The AFL Grand Final is on in Melbourne this weekend so it is a great time to get out of the place for a long weekend away and any excuse to go caching.I checked the weather conditions of North, South, East and West in my part of the country and West won out so Im heading over to Murray Bridge for 3 nights as I was able to get Thursday off and make it a 4 day break. The weather is looking good and I left Melbourne nice and early to make the most of my break.I have crossed the border into SA so let the fun begin. The ice cream series and the new Straya challenge caches was the main reason for heading this way when I picked which direction I was heading.I have finished the Ice cream series now to head to set up camp but there is always time for a couple more.I know the song and sometimes it gets stuck in my head when Im away.Sorry no emus were spotted this afternoon. Thanks Bublyn TFTC.
Travelling with iluvtrekking from our home state WA. Spending a few days in Murray Bridge to cache the surrounds. Loving the scenery that we pass as we move through the caches. Thanks bublyn
Find # 13979I'm in the Adelaide area for the Great Leap Forward event. Not just for the days event, but making it a week long trip of caching n catching up with mates.Flying solo......Day 8. Homeward-bound.Day started off with a tree climb and a big stretch off the ground. Then a bit of a look around Mt Barker. Then it was the trails. It's been a while since I've hit a long trail and being alone it was just me and the caches to fill the rest of the day in. Some power trails are tougher than others, ie parking locations and barriers can be annoying and chew up time. But happily I managed all hurdles. Even the odd orb spider that made some tracks mazes. Happily that what I'd pland out fell into place with only a couple of DNFs.End of day was a surprise with my biggest solo grab of over 300 in a day. But I have plenty more trails in SA to utilise if I want to better that score TFTC Bublyn
TFTC. Setting up camp for a week in Murray Bridge before the MEGA for 29th Feb!Moving to Ballarat for another week afterwards. Last hurrah travelling before wooding season at home starts!Happy caching and safe travels!
Something special or unusual goes here:No emus sighted today but found the cache and now have an earworm! The Generic Bit:Met up with Muff1 at Tailem Bend for a day's caching. We targeted the Straya series before a bakery lunch back in Town. Then it was off to find a few more caches and labs around the area. Some laughs are another little pocket of caches cleared....almost. A DNF during the day means will have to be back sometime. **SAs Leap Year Event GCA1DNA - keep the date free - 29th February 2024. - BOING*****Thanks Bublyn for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. *** Logs prepared and published through GSAK.
Was very much uncovered when we discovered it, so did our best to cover back up. No log book either but previous finder has a recipt that people are using
We had to sing Old Man Emu in our end of year concert in Grade 7, and that was considerably before 1992. Google reckons the song was released in 1970. It was only on returning to the car that I noticed the kangaroos over the road so Im guessing that theres at least one emu in there too?The SPOR was found partly scattered and the cache was open and empty. Ive put my name on the back of a receipt and rebuilt everything as best I can. Thanks for the cache bublyn.
Quick find with CherryRose while heading to Tailem Bend for a few days caching. TFTC TNLNSL
When we pulled up to look for Old Man Emu, a younger emu appeared at the fence on the opposite side of the road. When it discovered that we didn't have foot, the young emu headed off, looking elsewhere for something to eat. Accurate coordinates and the hint led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks Bublyn for the ache.
Thanks Bublyn for this cache, the emu came over to check us out when we pulled up ?? Found while staying at the Showgrounds ??

Sunday morning, an early start for the day - we had to feel for this one; with memories of John Williamson playing "Old Man Emu" in the background.
Thanks to Bublyn for adding this cache to the gameboard.

A big day of caching today with naughtybunny. Was a hot day today so we tried to stick to ones where there was the less likelihood of encountering snakes. This one was a quick find in the end. Must come back sometime and visit this nursery. Took Gold Lion Squishee, left Travel Bug (naughtybunnys). Cheers.
Quick find here, no animals in sight but it was a pretty hot day!
I popped a travel bug here.

Swan Reach to Murray Bridge staying in the showground.
Weather quite overcast but we headed out to do the mountain series & a few others along the way.
Road works along the way so we missed a couple.
Left a TB here Christmas in Paris but made an error & said it is in a different cache.
Thanks for placing this cache.

found with mogni. Found after the Come climb CP's TOWER event nearby and on the return home. quick find.
So another CP must do event, so of course I went a long for the fun. Unfortunately I am a little under the weather and this area was not quite as flat as I was expecting and did strain my poor cold infected lungs. But with some help from my friends I made it and got back to my car (thanks James )
I will need to return for another wander to collect more caches in the area.
Found with sir_spectre
Thanks to Bublyn from mogni

A peacock had escaped. Luckily it was not the old man!
Thanks to Bublyn and **clear skies** from TeamAstro. [^] Cache the planet! [^]
We are on our way to join up with a small group of cachers to do the On Your Bike Series, today is a stopover in Murray Bridge to visit with family and, of course, doing a small amount of caching.
Our appologies for the boiler plate logs but I have got so far behind with my logging this is the only way I can catch up.
We have had a great day and found all of the caches that we targeted, we did any running repairs that were needed and all caches were left in a good condition for the next visitor. SL TFTC

It was very funny as I stepped over it and didn’t even realise. Lots of fun and put my name in the log book
Heading to Naracoorte today to spend the start of the year with the husband. Had a later start than planned which always seems to be the way so the planned 40 caches became about 20.
It was too hot for caching in my opinion so 18 was more than enough. My cappuccino pav just about survived the journey.
Thankfully no snakes and all caches attempted were found.
Yes the Emus were watching TFTC !

Found after completing several series... only 1 dnf for the day ... great day of caching with hevwalker, froghoppin and Mattycat. Really enjoyed the day- lots of fun, laughter, exercise and stories to tell later to all our caching friends. TFTC Great cache
After completing the 3 new series near Murray Bridge & Tailem Bend with scramping, froghoppin & Mattycat we decided to continue our journey back to Murray Bridge & find some around town...
The sun was beginning to go down but still enough daylight to find this cache...
Looking across the road we could see a few Australian animals in the enclosures. There were a couple of kangaroos fighting too...

A great day to find a cache (every day is a nice day for that!)
An even better day to team up with froghoppin, then Hevwalker and Scramping, for a few more caches.
Quite a few it turned out. This was one of them!
Quite a wildlife party over the road!
Grateful thanks to Bublyn for hiding this cache on our SA geo map game board

Most Geocaches are located and logged using some or all of the resources of GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife), Garmin Montana 750i, Montana 680t, Etrex 35, Samsung S20+, Samsung S9, with Geocaching App, c:Geo, or Geooh Go, and Android Auto and other maps... or often with just plain old dumb luck!
---
Please do stay safe when caching.
Lookout for mud, snakes, surprise cliffs, wild goats, wombats, bulldust, and lightning,
try not to get tetanus from rusty mint tins... but especially lookout for bugs. [xx(]
Make sure Travel Bugs are the only bugs you share and pass on
We really appreciate all those placing quality caches out and about especially away from the city crowds,
it keeps our game safe, fun, and interesting
