Find # 14576Been a while since I've been out solo for a long trip. But things change over time. And I'm living the past.So with some time off work, I've jumped the border wall to chase down some long trails in South Aussie... don't know how many I'll get. But I've got quite a few downloaded. I do have a short hit list ( of 2) caches to help with a challenge. All others are just for the Adventure and countryside views. Armed with all the necessary TOTT from tweezers and magnet grab to 6m ladder and 8m fishing pole. I believe I'm prepared for all that I'll come across. (Just had to leave the Kayak at home )Day 1 home to Murray Bridge.A quick stop. Had the info worked out and then managed a quick find at GZ on dusk. TFTC OZGrumpy

Travelling with iluvtrekking from our home state WA. After spending screening Murray Bridge due to car problems, we are today caching towards Keith. Very foggy morning and visibility now on the highway. Could see where it had been - but not there. Had previous finder with us to confirm. Replaced. Thanks OZGrumpy

Continuing on with my South Australian caching tour and the mad collection of caches in the state. I am again part of the BOLD 7 team doing the mad assault on as many caches as we can. Today is going to be a mad long day as I am driving to Mt. Gamber and surrounds to chase some LGAs and some special caches. So glad to have finished off over the 300 of the Bike series, the ice cream cone art was fun, the anna tommy art was hot, the stayla challenges were cool. Now to move onto a different area of the state. OH the big Lobster is on the cards today. Love a Big Thing rings true today. First off today is the morning event. Was nice to see so many people turn up to the event. From there it was off on the drive. I am really loving the countryside of this state and the people are friendly while still watchful of you. We signed the caches as BOLD 7 and replaced them as we found them. Thanks for the hides and the great caches. Mum we will be late home.

We joined forces with the rest of the group consisting of Connie & Rick, pacman, muzza, micaparamedic, McLookers, Papi4506 & Geoturtle37at ROTF 211 as we had done the others on a previous trip with maccamob. We picked quite a warm day for doing a power trail but the laughing and stirring between the teams made the time go faster. We stopped here for lunch and to do this cache. With this many eyes the cache didn't take too long to find and our signatures were added to the log.To save room in the log book we signed as Vic1Thanks OZGrumpy for the cache

Out with a group of fellow cachers from Victoria, on our way to the Adelaide Mega. We have stopped here to have a break and some lunch before we complete the ROTF serries. The guy mowing the grass seemed a little bewildered as to what we were doing there. We all wandered over to the cache during our stop here and once we'd all had a break, we were back on the road again. Thanks for placing the cache and giving us a break and some shade for lunch.

28-Feb-24
Papi4506 and I had joined up with a group of fellow Victorians to attempt to complete the ROFT power trail before heading into the Adelaide Mega. This was a great spot to stop and grab some shade and lunch. A nice quick and easy multi to do whilst having a bite to eat. Thanks for bringing us here and giving us some shade to eat under and for placing this cache.

Day 2 of our trip to the Great Leap Forward mega event in Adelaide, accompanied by our new Canadian friends jtee and janjorjack. After exploring a section of the Great Ocean Road yesterday, we spent last night in Hamilton, and today is the push to Adelaide. A quick little multi and leg stretch here. TFTC OZGrumpy.

Three of us heading to LGA hunt today. Lots of scenery and enjoying our impressive country. Thanks to all the SA COs for fab caches!

28-Feb-24
How very exciting the big trip has finally arrived! Down from Brisbane with a host of other geo friends with plans aplenty, enough to almost see us needing to extend or make a return visit. With a day up our sleeves and a desire to fill our LGA grid some of the team split away to go on a massive LGA run down to Mount Gambier and back. Id love to say it was a fully researched trip, but it ended up being a more spontaneously planned trip. Some areas we sought the favourites, others the cache type and sometimes just the well maintained and accessible. I particularly loved this day as this is a region I spent a lot of my Christmases and Easter visiting my grandparents, so the towns brought back fond memories.Thank you for your cache which has added to my wonderful caching holiday.

Our first day of caching towards Adelaide to join in the festivities of the Leap Day Mega. Targeting exciting caches along our route we traveled uncharted locations really enjoying the sights each cache took us to.This tennis club has certainly seen better days! A very interesting location with its abando buildings and old fashioned swings that one half of the team remembers from her youth.Cache in good condition. Thanks OZGrumpy for the multi placement.

I put the word out to weredunn4 that if the weather this weekend wasnt any good for kayaking, would he be interested in heading down Tailem Bend way to target the ROTF or Wandering Heroes power trails.Unbeknown to me there are some high terrain caches he didnt have that are close to the ROTL series, so I got a resounding hell yeah lets do this So here we are creating another very long line of yellow smiley faces and boosting the daily average Quickly found here today and log stampedYet another GSM cache completedTFTC

Cheezel was keen to tackle another powertrail of caches, so the ROTF series was chosen for the weekend (plus a few others in the area), so we jumped in Cheezels bushbasher and headed out into the sticks.Progressing through the powertrail from the Sherlock end to MeningieDid the calcs for the multi and found the cache. No tournament today. There is a wall close to the courts so guess you could practice like the Don. A net was up and the court not too bad so you could do some serving practice.

Thanks OZGrumpy and clear skies from TeamAstro. ️ Cache the planet!

Well there was an event I saw published in Bordertown hosted by Roaming Howie and since I was able to have 4 days off I decided to head over to attend the event and then to also do a few of the On Ya Bike series to finish off my D/T loop.
Throw a few oldies into the mix for my Ausmer grid and it was going to be a busy weekend with lots of Km’s.
So after attending the event, finding the ones required on the OYB series, surviving the heat then wind and having a good nights sleep last night today is a new day.
After checking my map I realised I had missed a challenge series yesterday so I came back up this way to find those ones.
I’m now heading back in the right direction with a few hours delay.
Collecting caches that I come past as I have a bit more time on my hands today.
A nicer day today with the heat turned down a bit.
I don’t think that has been much game set and match going on here for awhile and I don’t think that the oval has had much use lately either.
A nice easy multi and I’m glad that the grass has been mowed.
A great idea on the cache container as well.

Big things are continuing to happen! Are you joining the fun again in 2023?

stopped to get my multi count closer to 1000, i hope to stamp a challenge cache for 1000 multi's on the last day of the 2 week holiday. quick solve and find.
Left with Mogni the day before Christmas to go down to Mount Gambier for Christmas Day. Then on the 27th left for Victoria. Plan A was to go to the Ottway Rangers, complete the Geo tour in Ballarat and then head to Geelong and take the Queenscliff ferry over to Sorrento then grabbing new LGA's on route to almost the New South Wales/Victoria border and the old 2001 cache near there. Also attending a community day event, a CITO and a couple of other events as well. Then head in to the high country and come back to SA in 11 days. Things didn't go to plan. Turns out that one of my almost new tyres was defective ( side wall blown out ) and blew in the ottway ranges on a narrow road in the rainforest, Drove to Melton to stay overnight and get a new tyre there, tyre machine broken and the other 5 tyre companies not open so off to geelong for a new tyre ( and some caches on the way and in geelong ) . The event we where going to attend in geelong didn't turn out, he was late by ALOT to his own event. Then to ballarat to same day since we had a b&b booked for the next few nights. Planned on getting the ferry at 1200 and ended up on the 400 pm ferry but we did attend a event and CITO in geelong. Then we drive into the rear end of a thunder storm with forecast 20 mm dropping for the next few days. Cancel the high country and change targets to letterbox D/T for fizzy grid only using letterboxes and same wirh the multi fizzy grid plus fizzy grid only using victorian caches plus any challenge caches we where near. Plus getting a few more victorian 2001 caches. And finally any caches that had 40 more more favourite points. Only got soaked to the bone for a couple of days but the water on the tracks was noticeable. On the return home tried to get the rest of the missing LGA's around the Melbourne CBD i missed in the last mega. Still a fun trip was had if not the planned one.

#20294. Day 22 of our holiday in SA and sadly we are leaving for Victoria today. We turned the day into an 8.5 hour travelling day - you know how it is, when you keep stopping for caches. Did several multis, a couple of AdLabs, had a detour to Mundulla and generally threw the schedule way out of whack. Saw many fields of gold - such a gorgeous sight and many grey and threatening skies and rainbows. We shall return of course.

Rob read me his log for this one so I guess he has said it all really. The oval was truly impressive with grass as high as an elephant's eye...... We were soon on our way to GZ and I do like this type of hide with the tube keeping everything tidily in place and making it so much easier to retrieve from narrow-necked containers. We have seen a few like this on our last trip and it is another great idea to take home.

Thanks OZGrumpy

26-Sep-22
First leg on our way homeward from Tailem bend to St Arnaud with BettyBoo3747 and the geodoggies.
The forecast wasn't good but the rain mainly held off while we were caching.
Did a pile of multis, and a couple of AdLabs on our way.
There are all those things you mentioned here, but we suspect they have not been used in quite a while.
The grass on the oval was a sheep's dream - green and a couple of feet high. Would be a bit trickier to play footy there!
Fortunately the grass around the tennis courts had been recently mowed otherwise we might not have been able to count them!
The equipment in the little playground were buried in the long grass. You have to give the kids a machete for them to play there.
A nice little multi though, and the geodoggies appreciated the walk.
Thanks, Robmc.

I found this D1.5/T1.5 Multi-Cache on 21/9/2022 at 11:59. It was find #15573 for me. Thanks OZGrumpy for placing and maintaining this for us to enjoy in the wonderful state of South Australia.

Found quickly after solving the multi, bent over to get cache and got my hair hooked in a branch with little flower nuts on it and couldn't get unhooked, so ended up leaving some of my hair hanging on the branch as a testament that was there and found it. It was sad to see so many abandoned sports ground around the place but at least they are putting the oval to good use and growing a very healthy looking crop on it. TFTC

17-Sep-22
Found with scramping on our way to Murray Bridge. We took a few detours collecting caches that had appeared since last visiting the area.
This was another interesting spot to visit in this series. The Sportsground could do with some TLC however it appears someone has sown a crop on the oval so it is very lush & green.
The co-ordinates for the final location were calculated & the cache was found quickly.
Thanks for bringing us here, OZGrumpy Smile

Another cache find on our 2022 South Australian Adventure. It is a wonderful day, just perfect for geocaching. Once again we are on the trail, this time the ROTF Series and others we pass along the way.

Cache #11693
Heading home to Adelaide today after visiting family in Melbourne for the weekend.
Had a list of caches that would be looked for, starting with four Used to Churches, then a Game Set and Match and finally two newish traditionals within 42K of home.
This one was the fifth and had been solved at home. By now it was well after dark so no-one around and a quick find by torch light.
Thanks to OZGrumpy for putting out this cache for us to find.

I somehow managed to be lucky enough to win a great state voucher for $50 off accommodation. The idea being to put some money back into regional communities after the pandemic. Uni and Medusa and I went away for a caching trip around Kingston using the voucher to stay at the caravan Park. We spent lots of money on diesel and food so the voucher did it's trick.
We stopped and found this cache on the way.

The first find on a long weekend road trip to the SE with an owl and dragon. The caclulations were done before the car stopped, it didn't take much longer to locate the cache.

Thanks for the cache OZGrumpy.

24-Feb-22
Owl, Sushilord and JJ52 had been planning a trip to Mount Gambier since Bowerbird's accident and it was finally happening! Of course, it would take hours longer than it should to actually get to the Mount. This was the first cache of the trip and a case of follow the leader (JJ) to the cache. The multi part was determined later. (As sometimes happens.)

24-Feb-22
On the way to Mt Gambier with Doctor Owl and sushilord of course we had to stop and find a few caches along the way that all three of us had not found. [^]

This was the first and one I had solved at home so it was a quick park and walk to GZ where it was obvious where the cache would be. Big Grin These tennis courts are looking very tired. Sad

Thanks for the cache OZGrumpy. Smile

The first find on a road trip to Melbourne. I’m already behind schedule, so playing safe with a GSM for the multi for the day - always good coords and a safe hide. Poor old Yumali is not looking too flash on this cool February morning, but all is well at GZ. Thanks for this cache OZGrumpy, caches along the main highways are much appreciated.

Found with Team Waldron during a trip to the south-east for a few days. On Day 1 we travelled via Meningie, the Coorong and Kingston SE to Millicent and Tantanoola. On Day 2, we toured around Glencoe and completed the STCL series, Colour by Song series, and the AooA series (and found any other caches along the way). On Day 3 we cached around Tarpeena then to Mt Gambier to do the Adventure Lab caches and down to Port MacDonnell. On the final day we completed the Honan Mint Trail and found the southern half of the Awaken and Live series before time got the better of us and we headed for home. This was the very last cache for the trip. Thanks for the cache OZGrumpy!

Keep a lookout for bogs, snakes, surprise cliffs, boxing roos, wombats, bulldust, and floods,
try not to get tetanus from rusty mint tins and don't fall out of trees...

Now everything's opening more - even more important to sanitise and safely distance!!!

Found after attending the 2022 Mega event at Wangaratta.

I drove across from Adelaide with Freddo. We took a week to get there and back as we meandered our way around northern Victoria, camping mostly along the river and generally avoiding contact with other people as far as possible to minimise covid risks.

We targeted some specific caches of interest, but also took the opportunity to find other random caches opportunistically as we were passing. Most of the puzzle caches we found were solved prior to leaving Adelaide in preparation for the trip.

My last cache for the trip. A nice little multi and an easy find.

Thanks OZGrumpy for the cache.

Silver to the cachers on tour.

Who is this Novak person?

e.Gregory1 and Freddo decided to travel to Wangaratta for Geocaching Victoria’s first 2022 Mega event. The attraction of GeoMaze icon was just too tempting. We packed the Land Cruiser for a bubble environment. There would be some public exposure but we would be keeping it minimal. Fortunately we did not bother with any warm clothes. Fortunately we packed some Bushmans with +20% DEET. There were caches to find and we found caches. We saw a lot of interesting places and met the occasional geocacher or two in the field.

I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count.

This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and a Samsung S8. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs...

Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun.

Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke für den Cache. Gracias por el caché. Bedankt voor de cache. Kiitos kätköstä. Zikomo posungira. Terima kasih untuk cache. Hvala cache. Köszönöm a cache. Nga mihi mo te keteroki. Dankie vir die kas.

Joint *FTF* with gridge98 @0823 was heading out this way today and saw this was still up for grabs, heading towards GZ I felt I was being followed, I turned to see another vehicle pull up behind mine, I quickened my pace as I knew where the GZ was located, but this stranger was gaining, got to the final coordinates in a neck and neck dead heat the stranger turned with a smile with introductions over and log signed we headed off in our separate directions. a very nice place to stop for a break TYFTC Ozgrumpy another quality cache
