Thanks for bringing me here, favourite point from me.

Found by Mary and David at 12:30. We went to see the original Nessie in Scotland, but she didn't show. We also remember the earlier version here at Lochiel. Think we like the current version better. Enjoyed the interpretive trail too. Our thanks to allister w.

#24472. The monster installation seems like a bizarre idea (a definite whiff of Simpsons monorail about it!). That makes it ideal for a virtual. Troodles sent answers / posted photo on behalf of us both. TFTC.

Today StreetWalkerNZ and I are travelling from Port Wakefield to Moonta Bay, but of course not the direct route . We plan to find some Postman Pat letterboxes, visit Lochiel, then onto the Sad Fisherman trail. Most caches were a quickish find, but we were plagued by flies. In the end, I'd had enough of the little b&%#@$s, so these sad kiwis had to curtail the Sad Fisherman finds and head to Kadina for a restorative coffee. Thanks to all the COs for the entertainment today. Polished off the letterboxes (with a couple of DNFs) and here in Lochiel looking for a coffee - all we could find was a butchery! Did find a toilet and a Loch Ness monster, though. TFTC.

TFTC. Wolly was looking away!

30-May-24
Today was day 3 of 6 for our SA trip from Qld. Today we drove from Port Augusta to Adelaide. Not meant to be am all day trip, but when you add many cache stops, it is. Today was raining, but that didn't stop me from hunting down the ones I had on my list. Was very grateful that most were a quick find. Not very pink for us to be marvelled by, but we could see tinges on the edges.

Well you never can tell where you will end up.This past week I have been on a short bus trip round the Eyre Peninsula. Before leaving home in Sydney I had looked at the suggested route and planned some caches I thought we might be close to.So this afternoon we ended up at Lake Bumbunga for a quick leg stretch and an opportunity to look at South Australia's monster. Most people stayed on the viewing platform but I dashed down to the salt lake to get a better look at the salt and the monster. Some of the flowering plants on the track were interesting too!Great spot to stop, interesting and fun.TFTC # 5934

So many times I have driven past here, but this was the first time stopping at the new Lochie artwork. They have built great viewing infrastructure here, a credit to the town. This one had been on the cards for a while, we were just waiting for Tweety2 to get her 3000th milestone at Capital GeoBash so she could stop limiting her finds. Today was finally the day, with a no cache limit - except that its now getting quite late in the day and we still have a lot of kms to cover. TFTC!

03-Apr-24
As it was raining when we left Adelaide this morning, we chose the second option for this one. Not knowing if there had been any rain here, we didnt want to deal with muddy shoes. Have watched the evolution of this fella over the years.

27-Mar-24
6 years later, we are back to Lake Bumbunga ans this time there is no walking in the pink mud for Mr. P while I was getting the answers for the EC. A new smart Lochie in place, which attracts a lot of people.V#78 of 4506Greetings - pilot03

I have had a great few day, caching on the YP; flying out tomorrow & planning to stay at Port Wakefield tonight. I just couldn't resist this Virtual cache - today is adot-day for me for Virtuals & I have a fantasy of filling the calendar sometime (probably in a few years' time!).Anyway - a bit of a drive out of my way & here I am! I was disappointed that Lochie didn't show up well in the frame...Thanks for bringing me here, allister w.

I'm in SA for the leap day Mega, some caching and a restful 5 day holiday. Let's see how that rest goes in the middle of so much new caching grounds!!! Today is day 2 and my Adelaide to Yorke Peninsula day. It's certainly got warmer today! What a great vitual, thanks for bringing me here!

28-Feb-24
This is a very interesting cache. I was kind of expecting to see a lake when I got here, pink or otherwise. Obviously there wasnt any water to see and I guess thats about normal for the end of February. What i did see though was the monster, very clearly

27-Feb-24
I had seen Lake Bumbunga on the internet and it looked beautiful in the photos with dark pink hues in the photos. I was excited to see this for myself so we did a bit of a detour to come and see the lake.We obviously were not here at the best time of year to see the pink as there was only a slight tinge of pink to be seen today. What I did see though was my first snake. As I had left the carpark and was heading down the track a brown snake about one and a half meters long crossed the path in front of me. Gosh was it fast, I had no idea they could move so fast. I wanted to take a photo but by the time I turned my camera on it was nowhere to be seen. I surprised myself that I didn't feel bothered about it, but in saying that I wasn't going to follow it, I just let it go about its business then I went about mine.We took the required photos and headed back to the campervan, looking a bit more wearily as we headed up the paththanks for placing this virtual cache and thank you for the smiley

Purrfect Di suggested we go for a cache and a beach today (that's why she's purrrrrrrfect Razz )So off we went with Jack to find your cache! We'd been before and taken the pics... but where are they? From 16 December 2023 to 19 December 2023, I and J plus the little one visited Coffin Bay National Park and Lincoln National Park, together with countless cities and towns on the way. We also found over 40 caches during the trip, including traditional cache, mystery cache, multi cache, virtual cache, EarthCache, and Adventure Lab cache.Today is Day 1, we found 9 caches. This was our first find for today. While travelling to Port Augusta, we stopped here for the pink lake. It was an unplanned stop. We visited here many years ago, but this time, we can show our little girl about the rare pink lake and the monster in the water. She played the pink salt in the lake, and enjoyed it. We took photos in the photo frame. See attachment. Thanks for the virtual cache, allister w.----**South Australia will host a Leap Day Mega Event on 29th February 2024. Found by The Empire + HLeaving the picturesque city of Port Augusta, we embarked on a road trip that promised both adventure and a touch of treasure hunting. Our destination was Murray Bridge, a journey that would take us through various local government areas (LGAs) in South Australia. Along the way, we were on a mission to find some easy geocaches in LGAs we hadn't explored yet.The drive was a mix of anticipation and exploration. As we cruised down the highway, the landscape transitioned from coastal plains to rolling hills, with the Flinders Ranges in the rearview mirror. The diverse beauty of South Australia never ceased to amaze us.Continuing our drive, we wound through charming towns, each with its unique character and stories to tell. We made a couple more geocache stops along the way, each one offering a new perspective on the region. It was like a scavenger hunt that led us to lesser-known spots that we might have otherwise missed. As we approached the lake, the first thing that struck us was the overwhelming contrast between the clear, blue skies above and the enchanting pink expanse below. The lake's water was the most striking shade of pink, ranging from delicate pastels to deep, vibrant hues. It was as if an artist had poured buckets of pink paint into this natural canvas.Reports of the Lochiel Monster are largely anecdotal, and there is limited scientific evidence to support its existence. Most accounts describe it as a long, snake-like creature with humps, often with the head or part of the body protruding from the water. Witnesses have claimed to have seen the creature swimming or surfacing in the lake, leading to speculation and mystery surrounding its identity. We'll have to come back and explore some more when we have more time! Thanks for the cool virtual cache allister w.- MVirtual #217@empiregeocaching

Time for another Tuesday Trek and after wondering where the greenest pastures might be, the emergence of a mini series in Moonta tipped the balance in that direction. But of course there were going to be quite a few to find before getting to the main course. So after picking up the Rat it was north to Bute before heading west. Today, for a change, it was mainly traditionals but I did manage to include quite a few from the nice CFS series as well as a virtual for quite a variety on another rewarding day out caching.
Had seen Lochie and even taken a photo soon after installation. This time, with miles to go and caches to find, didn't get as close as we could have but have attached a photo with Lochie in the background for the well sighted to see.
Thanks to allister w for putting out this cache.

Heading south to Adelaide, spotted the pink lake. Approaching the southern tip saw a rest area and decided to pull in for a look-see. Then I spotted the monster and noted a virtual resides at the same location.

Heading down the path to GZ, there were two foreigners hogging the frame, taking snap shots at different angles, dangles and postures. So I waited, then waited a little more and after 10mins decided to just snap away a selfie where I was. After getting back to the car, the visitors were still there snapping away. Suppose if I waited long enough, they would be snapping Kama Sutra poses. But I had a flight to catch and could wait their results on the fans only website.

Impressive little spot to stretch the legs, thanks for setting up this virtual here allister w.

I didn't even realize there was a new Lochiel Monster. I came with mogni and strolled back in the rain. Nice to see a virtual here. This would be a good place for a lab cache.
All logs where stamped or written as " JAMS " ( JJ52, Allister W, Mogni, and Sir_spectre ) plus Tallbikestan for this trip. I forgot to get the JAMS stamps out and they where in my geocaching bag and that was buried in the back of the car, so the first section of the trip was done by pen on the log sheets. The JAMS crew were off to the June Long Weekend Event in Kyancutta via Whyalla. As any geocacher would understand Whyalla is on the way, you just go to follow those green dots down the road. Left some caches for every one else to find in Whyalla. The JAMS crew came 5th on game day of the June Long Weekend, 4th was only 1 point in front of us.

Southern Autumn adventure Day 37. Mid North section of SA trip Day 8. Port Pirie area Day 3 and travel to Nuriootpa via Lochiel and Balaklava. Before I headed off from Port Pirie, I went for a short loop around to the east of town to get a final few caches. Once On the way, I made a point of stopping at some of the small towns to squeeze in a cache. Once I had arrived at Nuriootpa and set up the van, I took myself on the Barossa Rail Trail with the scooter for ten interesting caches, although it did begin with a DNF.

There was plenty of shallow pink water on display today. It is a pity people seem to feel the need to walk on the lake to get a close up the monster. I was happy with my images from the frame.

Thanks for the cache allister w

We were heading from Adelaide to Perth via the Nullarbor. What an interesting feature on the loch near to the road. I think I had downloaded some caches for the trip so that's how I was aware of this artwork in the pink lake. So cool. Alas, the other cache around here remained elusive, but the monster was frolicking in the water. Don't get to see such a sight every day.

Last year we visited Nessie in Scotland and now we saw it here

Together with my favorite geocacher Milonguera we traveled to Australia We went to Melbourne via Singapore and from there we explore the south, the center and the east coast.
We walked around Melbourne and had a nice meet & greet event. Than we visited Philip Island with the pinguins and the Great Ocean Road. We fed and petted kangaroos We drove to Adelaide, visited the koalas and continued to Port Augusta.

**Thanks for the cache!
Thanks for showing the location and for hiding the cache. You should come to Berlin in Germany to find a lot of interesting geocaches, visit lost places in the surrounding Brandenburg and meet nice people at many events.
I wish you a lot of fun and great adventures while searching for the next geocache!**

Ich bedanke mich bei allister w für den Cache, das Zeigen dieses Ortes, das Legen und Pflegen der Dose und den Spaß beim Finden! Thanks for the cache!

»Lochiel Monster« (1.5/1.0)
*Dies ist mein Cache Nummer 19912.*

Viele Grüße von XETRO aus Britz im Süden Berlins.
