After just completing the nearby Grampians Rail Trail...and logging 7 caches, we pulled in at yet another of Duntulum's hides. Been past it hundreds of times. Thought we should get it and add to today's total. Could actually see the cache container from the vehicle when we pulled up.

Found at 10:20 AM GAFF1.This Mitchell guy has been every where man! I read a story about him as told by his team who said that he had "iron guts" and could eat just about anything. The story was about those Mitchell cockatoos that no one in the expedition would eat as they tasted like rotting fish - except for Major Mitchell! Thanks to Duntulum

I was heading up to Dimboola for a CITO today and did not realise it had been cancelled Friday evening until I was checking what time it was planning on starting. It was cancelled due to the heat and the total fire ban as well.It was going to be hot picking up rubbish so it was for the best.I was in Stawell at the time and as I was in no hurry to get there now I decided to do a couple around there first before heading to Dimboola to do the newish trads up there and any others on this side of the road.Arrived at Dimboola and then opened the Geocruisers door and the heat hit me.I have found what I needed to do in Dimboola and now its time to start heading back east and find somewhere to stay for the night.Made it to Stawell and I have driven past this monument to Major Mitchell that many times and it was time to pay it a visit.I have called into a lot of these and boy did he get around. Thanks Duntulum TFTC.

Together with Suscoe, we had been looking forward to another trip to South Australia for quite some time. Plans finalised, an early start from home and we were on our way, with Bordertown the rendevous point. Quite by chance we caught up with Suscoe at "Poor Diggers" in Stawell. Together from there we found a great variety of caches, including this one and completed a number of Adventure Labs as we made our way westward, grateful for the half hour we earned before reaching Bordertown.

Thanks to Duntulum for adding this cache to the gameboard.

It was time for another adventure out west. After deciding not to camp overnight nearby, it was a zero dark thirty start with a few hours of driving before the sun rose. Well, I can only assume the sun was up as it was not visible through the fog and mist. After a couple of events and CITOs it was time to find a few caches.

A quick find here. Major Mitchell sure got around!

Thanks Duntulum for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy.

YAY - found Major Mitchell Stawell. Nice quick find. AND Log sheet is full. Struggled to find a spot to scratch my name. Think I wrote over the top of someone else. Thanks Duntulum for setting up this cache.

Mmmmmm? What a strange monument …. ‘Major Mitchell passed by this spot’ …. really??? Thank heavens we don’t have to celebrate every place where people pass by. Have heard Major Mitchell wasn’t a particularly nice fellow in historical terms either. After puzzling over the wording on the monument I attended to the cache - of course I went the wrong line initially, but got back on track and made the find. Thanks for another cache in the area Duntulum.

TFTC. We are camped at Green Hill. Lake Ararat for the long weekend as we make our way slowly to Penola. An overcast morning with promise of sun today. Decided to take a trip out to Stawell to complete the Adventure Lab and pick up other caches that have been placed since our last trip out this way. A productive day with 8 finds as well as the Adventure Lab.

On a road trip with Michells&hound and allister w over to Ballarat to complete the Geo Tour as well as other highly favourited caches and odd ones we were going past. We had a great weekend with four seasons of weather over the three days and even managed to attend an event in Sebastopol before heading home. Saw lots of the countryside and very interesting places in and around Ballarat. [^]

A quick stop here as we headed in to Stawell. Big Grin

Thanks for the cache Duntulum. Smile

29-Dec-22
One of four caches found on an end of year dash to Melbourne, that is not particularly caching related.

Im not sure how many of these Major Mitchell obelisks there are, seems each one comes with a cache.

A quick find here, thanks duntulum.

17-Dec-22
We stayed overnight in ararat after doing the fireworks for the carols there and after finishing the clean up this morning we thought that we would reward ourselves with a lab cache in Stawell and anything else that looked easy to find as we were feeling old today.

As we pulled up here we had a feeling of de-ja-vue and a quick check showed that we had been here before for a previous cache that is now gone. We missed the turn off into the monument and after a u-turn we headed back to the right location and pulled in there and as we were turning around Diane spotted the cache from the car and all we had to do was add our name to the log.
It would be really great to see what the bush looked like during Major Mitchells explorations compared to what it is now.

Thanks Duntulum for the cache.

Deja vu?

November 2022. Time for the second Victorian Mega of the year. This time in Whittlesea. What is it with W's? Time for another epic road trip. Who will join our merry crew? We traveled from South Australia and camped in the pig pen. It rained. It blew. It was sunny. It was not sunny. All four seasons. Beautiful location and some awesome caches.

Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun.

Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke für den Cache. Gracias por el caché. Bedankt voor de cache. Kiitos kätköstä. Zikomo posungira. Terima kasih untuk cache. Hvala cache. Köszönöm a cache. Nga mihi mo te keteroki. Dankie vir die kas.

Found by Rebel Acts in the company of Omegaman1971.

A four day weekend gave us the opportunity to catch up with the rest of the Crew and head to South Australia to do the Border track and caches in the Big Dessert area, lots of laughs and good times were had over the weekend. There were plenty of good quality caches to be found along the way.

We were led by Tackle Head who has been going to the Big Dessert area yearly for thirty five years.

This is one of the caches found today. Nice bit of history.

Thanks Duntulum for the cache.

Mrs Riddell has just completed walking in Mitchell’s footsteps from Passage Camp where the Murray and the Murrumbidgee joins, to Portland… over 5 years segmented into 5 day lots.
COVID added 2 years. She completed this 3 weeks ago which has then seen her do the Aussie Camino from Portland to Penola in 2 weeks and then some get out of jail free days cachingbin Mount Gambier and Millicent … not long enough!
So this is timely.
TFTC… easy!find.
