We are in Horsham for a long weekend away. Having never cached in this area, it is going to help us with a number of challenges. The hardest being GCA0HZW, where you need 20 geocaches in each Victorian LGA. We should get that in Horsham, probably not in the West Wimmera, Hindmarsh, and Yarriambiack LGAs that we will all be also visiting. After getting my 7000th geocache during this morning adventure, we had lunch. Then, it was time to head north into the Hindmarsh LGA. The primary targets are the Pink Lake, Dimboola, and the challenges on the edge of the Little Desert. After a nice lunch at Cafe Oma's Cafe, we went for a stroll around town collecting a few geocaches. On the way back to the car, the owners of the National Bank of Australasia invited us in and showed us around. Including the gift shop, the bank vault, and all the work they have done in the AirBnb rooms. Definitely might be staying here next visit. This took a little bit of thinking because I kept wondering if my GOSr coordinates were out. Nicely hidden here, well done. Thanks for the cache, Tassie Expat.Hunter
Ive searched for about 20 minutes on two separate occasions in the past month and still had no luck finding this cache.
Thanks to dalerious for adding the log strip. Full one removed and another added. There's enough space for Summer I hope.
Log full. We added paper to it. Coming to Dimboola for the 2nd CITO of the day, we stopped for a bight to eat at the nearby pastry shop. Apparently they close early on a Saturday. Instead we sourced our meal from the cafe but ate it at the vacant tables in front of the Bakery. This was a mistake, as like ants at a picnic, we attracted swarms of people thinking the shop must be open. [B)]Among the passers by was Freddo who wasnt after a pie, he wanted this cache just a couple of doors up the road.Straight after finishing our meal, catnap777 and I had cache for desert. We were originally lured to the border by a string of events and a set of solved "This is SA" puzzles, but having had our first taste of deep sand 4x4 driving, cat' and I couldnt resist daring ourselves to delve a little deeper into The Little Desert spending most of our time there before eventually emerging feeling rather triumphant having not bogged ourselves once. TFTC tassieexpat.
5 October 2024 Very nice cammo. We added a log sheet as the other was full.Thank you tassieexpat . dalerious and I were on the road again and this week we were heading to Dimboola and beyond chasing specific caches and D/T attributes of course. We saw these puzzles on the map and they were situated in the Little Desert, how perfect is that.We hadn't done alot of sand driving before, but we were well prepared for the journey and experience. All the tracks were accessible and our vehicle handled the conditions admirably. This area of the State is awesome. This country is awesome. My goodness we live in a beautiful part of the planet. The wildflowers were out on show but strangely not many reptiles. It was on the colder side though, and we did get showers every now and again. We definitely don't need an excuse to visit the Desert country again in the future.
Quick cache find here. There is only so many places you can look.Today was the day to find this cache. Today is Saturn's day the fifth day of the octavus month of the Roman calendar in the wonderful year of twenty twenty four. We found your cache container and added some inky stuff to the paper sheet or note pad you have supplied for a log book or scroll. The cache container and log book or scroll were in good condition. It was a bit cooler today. It was so windy today. A few showers. With the log signed and the cache replaced it was time to leave. Onwards to the next cache. Woot, that is not to far.I would like to show my respect and acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the Land, and their continuing connection to it. I wish to pay my respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and to Elders past, present and emerging.I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. Hmm, I wonder if this moves.... yep found by Miss12 whilst wandering back to camp from shopping
Spring Victorian Incursion 2024.Day Two: Kaniva to BallaratWeather: still quite windy, otherwise perfect. Saturday afternoon seems to work well here. There were people in the street, but all down the other end and so I was left unsupervised. And it didnt take me long either. The cache is just a little big for its hiding spot, giving the game away. I had a bit of trouble getting it out. Ive tried to replace everything optimally, but I think a slightly smaller cache would work better here. Still a great hide; its always a pleasure to find something creative like this. Thanks for the hide tassieexpat.
A sneaky little hide we stumbled across this afternoon while attending a wedding party adventure Thanks tassieexpat for the cache. Fave point added.
H is for Hooray! Made an easy find of this cache which was most thankful as the street was packed with hungry diners and locals socialising outside the bakery. Great cammo. Thanks tassieexpat for another sneaky hide. Loved the blossom trees lining the street. Quite stunning.
I loved this cache. We (ConnieandRick, and I) parked, and I looked up and signed. Connie laughed, knowing that I had looked up and thought this would take a while. It wasn't to be. The very clever camo was just a bit askew, so I reached out, and bingo, it was the cache. I hope I have put it back together in the way it was intended. Loved this, thanks tassieexpat
Makeing my way back to the border, slowly getting caches on the way. Quick find here after reading about the machinery. TFTC
Found it with plenty of muggles about. Getting it was easy, now to put it back without being seen. Great spot to visit. Nice town.
Exceptional camo...took a bit of lateral thinking after abandoning a few options. Brilliant! Brilliant. On a multi mission with weirdobiker after the Lameroo Ludicrous Leg Warmers events in SA and now heading back east via a through different LGA's. I'm thoroughly enarmoured with Dimboola, its public art and tributes to its history. Its been great exploring the country out west with plenty of highlights to remember. TFTC and the lure. A FAVE for creativity!
After being in Lameroo for the annual JLWE event this year with an 80s theme, we are slowly making our way homeOut and about with Ronice88 today to pick up caches here, there and everywhere.Very clever hide and a bit tricky. Deserves a favourite point from me
Found on way to attend the JLWE, this one has us stumped, looked at it but I think the old machinery caught me eye and distracted me as when we returned it almost hit usnow I cant unsee itThanks tassieexpat for showcasing this area and contributing to this great game for myself and others to enjoy. Happy trails!
Found on the way to the JLWE Lameroo EVENT!! Thanks to the Uni PAF we came back and found the little sucker!!Thanks tassieexpat and clear skies from TeamAstro. Cache the planet! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
It was the final day of my slowly caching my way home to Adelaide from Bacchus Marsh; with the plan to find a few caches along the way before making the final stretch home. Having picked up a couple of caches on the way out of Horsham, the majority of my time was spent between the Dimboola area and Kaniva. With a decent number of caches put out in, and around, Dimboola since I was last in the area, it was nice to make a dent in finding them. When it got late in the day, and I had found all the caches that I was after, I put the GPS away and made my way home. Apologies for the generic log as I have plenty to write from my trip away.Find #9830, at 12:53 pmTFTC
Found this with gridge98 on our road trip to Victoria. We took the great ocean road to Warrnambool, then to Ballarat and Halls Gap. Fantastic trip away over 5 days. Thanks for the cache!
A nice hide here tucked away, wasn't too hard for us to find today after a break in the mugglescourtneyrose_ and I headed away to Victoria for a 5 day trip for me to partake in the Ballarat Marathon. Along the way we made our way to the great ocean road to explore the area, after both of us had not been there for many years. We then headed to Ballarat for 2 nights before heading to Halls Gap for a scenic experience for the night before making our way back to home to Adelaide. Thanks for the cache.
Found at 2:28 PM GAFF1.We had trouble settling in on the right location and finally at a distance of 12 metres we spotted a nicely camoed "container" that held t he bison tube.Looking at the farming equipment we were impressed that they were all made by hand at blacksmiths shops! Thanks to tassieexpat
With Featherwaite we're on our way home from Canberra after the GeoBash Mega over Easter. On our way we set our route to take in LGAs that I have no finds in. Day 1 we made it to Wodonga and Day 2 we arrived in Terrick Terrick NP and Day 3 we were home.Unless stated this cache is in good condition.Apologies for the generic log.TFTC
Found with Team Waldron on our way back to Adelaide after attending the Capital GeoBash mega event in Canberra over the Easter weekend. Thanks for the cache and series tassieexpat!
On our second day of our current trip to Adelaide, we headed from Ballarat to Kaniva, caching along the way. This was one of the caches we visited in Dimboola. We last visited Dimboola not long after the first caches in this series were published. At the time we missed one, and it was a priority for this visit. Unfortunately we were behind schedule and so had to limit our cache hunts this afternoon. The positive outcome is that it gives us another reason to return to Dimboola.Accurate coordinates and exploring each option with our hands, led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks tassieexpat for this cache and the series. We enjoy visiting Dimboola.
Driving through the town. Had to get at least one cache here.TFTC SLSneaky indeed
I was heading up to Dimboola for a CITO today and did not realise it had been cancelled Friday evening until I was checking what time it was planning on starting. It was cancelled due to the heat and the total fire ban as well.It was going to be hot picking up rubbish so it was for the best.I was in Stawell at the time and as I was in no hurry to get there now I decided to do a couple around there first before heading to Dimboola to do the newish trads up there and any others on this side of the road.Arrived at Dimboola and then opened the Geocruisers door and the heat hit me.They even had a market on in the Main Street as well.I met the CO last weekend and mentioned that I will be back but I didnt think that it would be this soon. Now lets see how many I can find. Now in the Main Street and luckily for me everybody was either at the market or escaping the heat.Hooray for me as I found it in the second place I looked which is not very often for me.A great sneaky hide.A fav goes out to you for this one. Thanks tassieexpat TFTC.
Last day of a brilliant 4 night break to South Australia, which included the Great Ocean Road with our new Canadian caching friends jtee and janjorjack, then running around Gawler, Williamstown, Gumeracha and Victor Harbour, and of course the Great Leap Forward Mega Event in Adelaide. This was a much better option for us than sitting around Ballarat while evacuated from our home that was right in the middle of the Beaufort bushfires (and yes it miraculously survived, thanks to the artistry and skill of our firefighters). We spent last night in Keith, where we had a great meal with the friendly locals in the pub. This was the perfect lunch stopover for us today. We ordered some takeaway, then walked over to find this cache. After it had been found and returned, we were loitering around making notes on the phone when someone came up to us and asked if we were geocaching and if we needed help. Explained we had already found it but had a lovely brief chat with this lovely lady before we went our separate ways. TFTC tassieexpat. Favourite point for this clever one.
I couldn't leave Dimboola without finding another of this series. I loved the old Holden signs here, and I can imagine a few Toranas sitting in the yard ready for sale. I checked the old electrical box first, nope, nothing, and then found this inventive hide. Pen was broke, so a photos it was - not posting here cos spoilers. Thanks!
Another very well hidden cache. Thank you tassieexpat for placing and maintaining I spy with my little eye...H for us to find today.
Found with Feathertop as we headed home from the Adelaide Mega event. A super neat cache here that blends in well. Fav added.
On my way to the Great Leap Forward Mega in Adelaide I made this my first stop of the roadtrip. Off to a good start here with a quick find. Back when I was growing up we called a Holden a Chevrolet. So I spied a ....C! A C...hevrolet, and a C..ache.Thanks for the crafty cache, tassieexpat.
The eagle eyed feathertop spotted this well concealed cache. On the way to SA with feathertop, micaparamedic, ConnieandRick. A favourite from me.Thanks for the cache tassieexpat.
Just wanted 1 cache on the way through today. On the way to SA with Mclookers, micaparamedic, ConnieandRick.A favourite from me.Thanks for the cache tassieexpat.
An ultra quick find by feathertop while on our way to Adelaide with McLookers and micaparamedic.
12:51A reasonably early start from home and we were on our way westward toward Adelaide for The Great Leap Forward Event. what a gem we spied here - well deserving of a FP.Thanks to tassieexpat for hiding cleverly designed caches in interesting locations. 36558
TFTC! 26 February 2024 3:53:50pm 7344 thanks to tassieexpat for the cache! A stop off on the way to Adelaide.
We had both noticed this as we were walking along earlier but didn't realise what we were looking at. When we came back to search for the cache, we didn't take too long to realise what we were looking at. Thanks for a great cache.
I love caches that are hidden in plain sight so this was excellent. Thanks for this great cache.
Me Riddell had a Torana! So this was a pleasure for him to find.He found it very quickly, but we are posting a favorite point for the exceptional camo.TFTC
Quick find as passing through, grabbing a few each time I pass through here.TNLNSL Thanks
Last cache for our afternoon walk before stopping for afternoon tea. Love the camo for this one, we just had to avoid the locals adding more Christmas decorations to the fence here. Thanks for the great hide tassieexpat.
Awesome town. Came for Adventure Lab. Thanks for the geocache in such an interesting location. Enjoyed the town steam train and parks too. Supported local business buying a few drinks.
This is a tricky cache to find, we decided that the best tactic for us was to appear to be checking out the machinery on display here, note we really did not check it out at all being so busy looking for an item that might be a cache. We were fortunate here today, there was hardly a soul around, they might have all been at the sales. We looked high and we looked low and in between, believe it or not we are not telling what level we found the cache on. SL TFTC
With good coordinates we located the cache in its hiding spot. The nice piece of camo was impressive and we are adding a favourite for the effort. Thanks tassieexpat for the sneaky placement.
Found by Mary and David at 11:00. A quick find in the lovely sunshine. Loved the Monaro sign - D owned two in the late '60s and early '70s, an HK GTS327, and an HQ GTS 350. A FP for the sign and the memories. Our thanks to tassieexpat.
Find # 13078Off on a full days solo Caching adventure around the Western Vic area.I've had a half baked plan around the area and it was time to go for it. Horsham, Dimboola, Jeparit, Rainbow and then follow a Silos Art Ad Lab heading home.A great (top of) 20deg day, to be out n about. With a bit of wind to kick the dust n sand up. Dimboola, in my plan, was going to be a 1 or 2 grab, then head off.... well, one thing is, my plans don't always go the way intended when flying solo. Yep, I managed to go for all here and had fun doing so.Finally located, great camo. My other issue was there were 4 police officers having lunch out front of the Bakery. So not wating to linger on I tried to make it quick, well this slowed me down. And yes the inevitable happened. "What are you up to?""Ummm, Geocaching""Oh, is there one here?"After showing the officer the cache n hide, he showed his partner and then after a bit of a chat we headed off. The camo makes this one memorable, so does being sprung by the police TFTC tassieexpatAdding a fave
Found the little blighter No need to go over fenceStill think co ords out a little Tftc
Lol ..had to return as their was a Muggle when i first arrived at GZ. then upon second search l just missed the cache. then on 3rd more closer inspection of everything found it. Nice camo, almost got me.
