So excited to finally make a rendezvous with the Little Desert! Not at all sure what we would be in for so a nice surprise that geomobile liked it. On a multi mission with weirdobiker after the Lameroo Ludicrous Leg Warmers events in SA and now heading back east via a through different LGA's. Its been great exploring the country out west with plenty of highlights to remember. TFTC and the lure. A FAVe for longevity!

I'm out and about with Ronice88 today after the Lameroo JLWE events. We decided to head out to the Little Desert to collect this old cache and to collect another one which was not too far away. It is great to find these older caches that have been in existence for more than 2 decades

Been meaning to come into this part of Little Desert since I started caching in 2005, but never got here till today. If not for a new multi at Kiata Cemetery, I ventured into here.
Over the Yeats a few more cache had been added, plus a new one nearby I got a surprise FTF on...
Anyways, the Damn is full, who would've thought that in the middle of summer in a desert?
Stumbled around for a bit, working my way through the thick scrub to finally get to GZ and this now very old prize!
Had a bit of a read of the original logbook, which I could've been in if had come here 15 years ago! That was the days when cachers wrote their log in the aptly named 'Logbook', rather than the inane stamp and run mentality that prevails today.
Anyways, thanks for adopting and keeping this one going for all these years.

Thanks

last cache of the holiday and targeted because of the age 2001. I like the cache container. short stroll to gz, did take out about 6 - 8 spider webs. Surprised to see water in the little dam nearby. Stopped to get a cache or five in a new LGA.
Left with Mogni the day before Christmas to go down to Mount Gambier for Christmas Day. Then on the 27th left for Victoria. Plan A was to go to the Ottway Rangers, complete the Geo tour in Ballarat and then head to Geelong and take the Queenscliff ferry over to Sorrento then grabbing new LGA's on route to almost the New South Wales/Victoria border and the old 2001 cache near there. Also attending a community day event, a CITO and a couple of other events as well. Then head in to the high country and come back to SA in 11 days. Things didn't go to plan. Turns out that one of my almost new tyres was defective ( side wall blown out ) and blew in the ottway ranges on a narrow road in the rainforest, Drove to Melton to stay overnight and get a new tyre there, tyre machine broken and the other 5 tyre companies not open so off to geelong for a new tyre ( and some caches on the way and in geelong ) . The event we where going to attend in geelong didn't turn out, he was late by ALOT to his own event. Then to ballarat to same day since we had a b&b booked for the next few nights. Planned on getting the ferry at 1200 and ended up on the 400 pm ferry but we did attend a event and CITO in geelong. Then we drive into the rear end of a thunder storm with forecast 20 mm dropping for the next few days. Cancel the high country and change targets to letterbox D/T for fizzy grid only using letterboxes and same wirh the multi fizzy grid plus fizzy grid only using victorian caches plus any challenge caches we where near. Plus getting a few more victorian 2001 caches. And finally any caches that had 40 more more favourite points. Only got soaked to the bone for a couple of days but the water on the tracks was noticeable. On the return home tried to get the rest of the missing LGA's around the Melbourne CBD i missed in the last mega. Still a fun trip was had if not the planned one.

I have been Geocaching for the last year as part of team Dromaniax. We have enjoyed the Geocaching caching around a lot of Victoria in that time. From our first trip up to the Murray River, the next trip to Lake Eildon and the area around Buxton, an epic trip to the Little Desert to attack the This is SA series, then a great trip with our father to the High Country in Victoria, a trip to the Mornington Peninsula and a trip to the Albury-Hume Reservoir area.

I finally decided to set up my own account and am claiming all the caches I have found as part of Dromaniax.

Thank you for this Traditional cache Team Piggy.

*Found on the 27 Nov 2022 @ 10:54 am.*
*Cache find # 13692.*

After an overnight stay at the nearby campground with a couple of celebration events, it was now time to find a few other caches in the area.
I headed to this one next and after a nice little drive in, I was soon at a spot to park the car, from there it was only a short walk to GZ where the cache was found without any problems.
It's always nice to find these oldies.

**Thanks to Team Piggy for placing this cache.**

There is no way the Geoturtle37 wasn't going to at least attempt to find this one. She loves looking for the older caches.
We were camping at Kiata with a great group of friends so we piled into the least amount of cars possible and made our way to this. Even though we were in 4WD's, there was no real need as the worst we came across was a largish puddle which people that joined later had no trouble getting around. Having had a glance at the photos of others, ours was certainly a small puddle. Thank you for taking over this cache and keeping such an old one going. A favourite for us both.

26-Nov-22
I was so excited to be with the group when we found this nice old cache. I do try to find as many as I can. We took 4WD's out to this but if you drove carefully, they weren't necessary. Thank you for making sure that this cache continues to live on. It would be such a shame for one so old to be archived. A favourite for me as thanks.

It was time for a break and the chance to sneak away to my second “The Tritonz’ desert trip was too good an opportunity to pass up.

We departed camp on some small journeys to explore. This was one of them. We tricked from the parked cars and soon found the cache.

Thanks Team Piggy for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to find.

We spent a wonderful weekend camping out at the Kiata campground, celebrating geocaching with great friends. The weather was kind to us and the weekend was full of fun and laughter. We carpooled to do a bit of 4WDing to this cache, the tracks had a few big puddles but nothing too hard. The cache was found in excellent condition. Thank you Team Piggy for maintaining this golden oldie cache to bring us out here to this lovely location.

09-Sep-22
Being a wet day I was worried about how the road might be, but it was okay, although with each turn onto a new road/track it got a bit worse. After leaving the main road I followed a bitumen road; often one lane wide, but sealed and good. Then I turned off from that to a good gravel road, then turned off that onto a sandy road, but okay. The last turn gave the worst bit of road, but despite being wet and there being puddles, my Subura had no problems and it was an easy drive. Nothing like I had worried about Big Grin! I think a 2WD could get there without problem, as least in the dry and with some clearance. (The last track says 4WD only.)
I was confused which coordinates to use, and first I followed the instruction to use the 2003 coordinates. After finding nothing there I walked the short distance to the coordinates at the top of the page and then made a quick find. Those are the coordinates to use; ignore the comment in the Geocache Description. Use the cache coordinates. Cache and log were good.
This will be good for a few challenge caches and was the main cache I wanted to find today. TFTC Team Piggy.

Plans had been made for a weekend away to find the This is SA series of caches in Little Desert. We had planned that AusFox;, Sims_family and my muggle brother. Unfortunately for AusFox;, caught the dreaded Vids and wasn't up to the weekend. So my muggle brother and I headed off for a long weekend of camping and caching. We found this cache quite quickly, and the cache was in excellent condition. Thank you for this cache Team Piggy.

With a bouncing GPS making me walk 3 times further than needed, I passed through bees, spiders and many sharp sticks which was voiced quite regularly by geo-kid. Easy find eventually when the GPS was nice

10-Nov-21
After arriving at the campsite we decided to do a couple of the local walks, plenty of birdlife and wildflowers, the soft sand made it a bit harder than we are used to but still very enjoyable.
After reading the information about this spot we set off to find the cache, luckily the GPS lead us nearly straight to it. The cache is in good condition (this type of cache seems to hold up well), replaced undercover and headed back to camp for a well earned beverage. TFTC

We love off road driving and this was a bonus.

Found on a trip to the Vic high Country.

It has now got to the stage where we have over 750 draft logs waiting to be completed. These range back over at least a couple of years.

We are not a fan of generic logs but with everything that has been on our plates recently we reluctantly have to admit this may be the only way we can get this back log cleared. If your cache is in our backlog it usually means it is one that we wanted to spend more time creating a much more bespoke log than this. But we are not managing to achieve that goal. So in the interests of getting the backlog cleared we have decided to resort to this long form of TFTC as a way of getting a large number of them cleared.

We apologise for the lack of commentary specific to your cache or event. We are somewhat targeted in what we go after. There are unfounded caches within a few kilometres of our home which we published before we started 8 years ago. We have just never got around to o looking for them. We like unusual cache types, puzzles in particular, older caches, and tend to target a much more wider group of caches when we travel. We like remote caches and caches that bring us to an interesting place. It is likely that this cache found its way into our find list because it fits one of these criteria.

As cache owners we appreciate the effort that goes into hiding and maintains caches so thank you for that.

Found as part of our trip to the St Arnaud Mega event. On Day 1, e.gregory1, gridge98 and I left Adelaide on the Thursday morning, straight after the Earlybirds event in North Adelaide. We travelled a long and circuitous route via Bordertown, Nhil and Warracknabeal to find caches in 5 additional Victorian LGAs that I had yet to visit (namely Buloke, Loddon, [Greater Bendigo - I’d previously visited], Mt Alexander, Hepburn and Central Goldfields). On Days 2-4 we met up with Freddo and Davidwazza. As a group we systematically completed each of the many series around St Arnaud and found all other caches along the way, signing the logbooks as DEFF98 (Davidwazza, e.gregory1, Freddo, Featherwaite and gridge98), as well as attending the events and completing the Lab caches. After the Mega, e.gregory1 and I headed back to Adelaide camping out in Little Desert NP overnight. On Day 5 we had intended picking up caches around Mundulla and Mount Monster but a last minute change of plans saw us head into Ngarkat CP instead, for a solid drive and a few extra rewarding cache finds. Many thanks to all the cache owners for placing the huge variety of caches around St Arnaud and to all those who organised the Mega and the fantastic weekend away. Thanks for the cache Team Piggy!

18-Nov-19
Found during a trip to St Arnaud to attend the Mega event.

FeatherWaite, gridge98 and I left Adelaide on the Thursday, taking a circuitous, but scenic route to St Arnaud to pick up a few caches in some other Victorian LGAs. We met up with Freddo and Davidwazza at the event that evening and teamed up to complete a couple more caches that night together before camping out of town.

Over the next three days we cached very solidly in and around St Arnaud, finding a diverse range of Traditional, Multi, Unknown, Virtual, Letterbox, Wherigo and Earthcaches as well as attending all the events associated with the Mega. We also managed to complete all the Lab caches over the weekend. Logbooks were signed D.E.F.F.98 (Davidwazza, e.gregory1, FeatherWaite, Freddo and gridge98).

On the Sunday afternoon, after the final GIFF event, FeatherWaite and I began making our way back to Adelaide, picking up a couple of caches before camping in the Little Desert NP. The following day we grabbed some nearby caches then continued towards home with a side visit to Mount Rescue to pick up a few caches along the tracks there.

Thanks to all the cache owners for placing and maintaining the caches. They included a huge variety of containers, hides and puzzles, many of which were very clever or amusing and had obviously taken considerable time and effort to construct. Thanks also to all those who organised the Mega and the associated events. I’ll be looking forward to the Mega at Millicent in South Australia next Easter!

Extremely good customer service from a CO with regards to their EC had me reminded that we haven't logged their EC after approval (months ago) nor did we log a couple of other caches when we had lost reception and the caching app we were using didn't save our logs offline. This was one csuch cache.

This was a target cache while in the area, hubby grumped and moaned but he ended up enjoying himself.

Being the first time in Australia, Jobär and me, we had to decide about geocaching or looking for some touristic spots (and even sometimes both at the same time). We were prepared at least for the grandfathers of a cache which had to be done to fill our matrix.
After visiting The Grampians and find some aboriginal rock art we went on to South Australia, crossed the border and entered a new timezone. Now we are half an hour nearer to home Wink. But here we drove the gravel road as long as we could manage it with our campervan, then we went on to this little desert to find another very old cache. Thanks for bringing us here and many greetings from Germany. I still wonder, why somebody built up a mill so far away from everything else ...

On our tour with a campervan through southeast of Australia minebine and me today drove fron Horsham to Keith in SA. This Oldie was on our to do list and so we left A8 to drive to the cache. At the last crossing we parked our campervan and walked by foot the last 500 m. On the way we met some kangeroos. The container was found quite easily. After signing the logbook we read the plates geting some information on the place. Thank your for maintaining this Oldie.

A ripper spot here that is well worthy of one of the states first caches. Cheers and thanks from me! Big fave awarded.

When you've exhausted your local supply of DT stars, what is there to do?
You do what any good Viking would do - prepare your ship and go plunder the DT stars which are so abundant in neighbouring states!
So it transpired that this weekend the honourable Vikings Tritonz, Jacko, Quasar, SedgwickDave, AHomburg and Pacman set off from Melbourne and embarked on the 'Adelaide DT Raid'.
And what an adventure-filled boy's weekend it was - with a full complement of kit including ladders, kayaks, 4WDs, torches and climbing gear no GZ and no cache was out of bounds on this expedition. There were no earthcaches, no PTs, no number chasing - we were just reaching for the brighter stars. We returned home 4 days later with an amazing haul of stars and smilies.
Thanks to all the COs who contributed to the fun.

Day 1 and we're still in Victoria. Just couldn't resist this older GC6 cache! And it's a very special location too - feels out of this world. Definitely worth the little detour.
Thanks Team Piggy.

Leaving our accommodation in Nhill we headed towards The Little Desert to explore a little area we hadn't visited before using the caches to show us the sights. The weather was very blustery and the rain was getting heavier on our approach. With the sun trying to poke out its head and the rain getting lighter we were able to make this find without the use of our very wet raincoats and enjoy the ambience of the desert in our search.
Thanks Team Piggy for placing a cache here in the Little Desert for people to discover.

We were visiting family in Kalkee for school holidays and decided to head out to the Little Desert for a drive and a bite to eat and we couldn't resist a cache or two while we were here. We set out East from the gz and followed Warners track and came in from Pump Jack Track before heading North and finally ended up winding our way towards the gz, or as close as we could before walking the last 60 metres or so. The cache was soon found after a short search and we continued on towards the campground just up the road to set up for lunch. Surprised that this one has not been found for a while considering it was a far easier drive to the camp ground than the way we found our way in today. Great to get some unloved and a very old cache while out exploring the area today. Thanks Team Piggy for the hide.

26-Jul-16
We were keen to make the find of this old cache given we were in the region. No problems finding the roads in even though the rain made conditions slippery at times. Interesting bit of history at the old bore and then onto make the find nearby. Great to see another cache still going. We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC.

While travelling with Mutex I’ve found a lot of caches all over Australia. You know, I like the discovering, especially in nature, but am not that much intopcs and internet ..and logging. So we spend a whole day together to indicate all the caches we found together out of his list. Hope you don't mind the standard text aslazy me has to log quitea few now. HopefullyI'm gonnawork on that Wink

At the moment Pfote and me are on a work and travel backpacking trip through the world. After I've spent a full year in Australia Pfote joined me for my second year down here. We will definitely try to collect a lot of boxes and all the special things in every state all around and through the middle.

Our current part of the journey is a roadtrip form Melbourne via the great ocean road to Kangaroo Island and back to Melbourne. Of course, some catching stops are necessary!
This was one of the caches, we've found on the way.

A week travelling to SA for work had me staying in Warrnambool, Mount Gambier, Victor Harbour and Murray Bridge before trekking back east. I did stop for a few caches, limiting myself to drivebys unless it was late in the day. Saw some amazing country (dry) with some fantastic views.

I stopped here on the journey back to Melbourne, great spot!!

Thanks for all CO's for placing these caches!!!

What else do geocachers do when having a weekend away geocaching[?]
Take some friends and make it a darned good weekend!
Moneydork, Tounga, Sushilord, Uni & Medusa, Skippy & Audra and myself headed to Ballarat and we had a blast! Cool
Enjoyed tea with some local geocachers on Saturday night: Sully1, Bogong Hazy and Snaphappy [^]
Kayaked on Sunday and then rode pushbikes too Surprised
The things we do for geocache finds, I haven't been on a bike for years!

All up, I found 113 caches Smile and had 4 DNFs Sad
We even managed to find some that we had DNFd last time! Cool

I apologise now for the generic logs on these caches. I am unexpectedly heading back to the area now, about 5 weeks later, and am madly logging so that I know what I have and haven't found.
Please understand that due to some issues this end, I have been short on time and therefore haven't logged these as I would normally do, with a seperate comment for each cache.

I thank each and every cache owner for the wonderful caches which we found in the suburbs and in the bush! Cool

Well well, A Team Piggy Cache.
Who'd have thought I'd get the pleasure of meeting the man behind the name on York Peninsula just a week after we found this one.

On a bit of a geotour during what remains of my holidays, MuggleWife is back at work so I'm off to Mildura and Renmark via Bendigo and Swan Hill then back to Melbourne through Pinnaroo, Bordertown and Horsham.
Day 3 of my journey has me on the downhill leg now, back towards Melbourne but still with a lot of caches in between.
Arrived to spook 4 emus drinking on the dam, nice. Found after a short walk in the bush. Another oldie to the tally.
Thanks for placing this cache Team Piggy

An AWG bushwalk out on the Trig point loop from Kiata Campground gave several of us the chance to log this cache at 1:30pm. Really enjoyed our walk through the desert. Scrub was much thicker than I had expected. Lots of flame heath and other wildflowers about even at this time of year.

On our way to the OzMega in Murray Bridge picking up a few caches on the way. We thank the many cache owners for putting out and maintaing these caches for our pleasure. There have been challenges as well as simple drive byes to break the journey, there have been a few DNF's also.

Apologies for the generic log but we plan to do quite a few logs in the next few days.

Trekked into this hide in the motor home. All OK. Will need the new logbook shortly. A fantastic spot to visit, deserving a favourite point

My wanderings today brought me out into the Little Desert Smile
This is an area I have not visited before and today with half a dozen caches to chase I got a good taste of what is here Smile

I was a bit apprehensive about what the track might be like to this GZ, but I need not have worried Smile
A family sedan could get to GZ if driven with care Smile

I read the information board and wandered around the waterhole before heading into the scrub.
And soon found me a cache Razz
So good to find an 'oldie' and read the logbook entries from before I started caching Razz

The olde bucket has had its day though !!
10 years in the mallee sun had made the plastic brittle and the lid is cracked Sad
The bucket would not survive another summer !!
Another lump of the lid broke off as I lifted it Red Face

I replaced the olde bucket with an 'earthy coloured' PVC pipe container.

TFTC !! May it live on for another 12 years .... at least !! [^]

Found on trip to gluepot
surprised to see the size of the cache almost out in the open. Next time I'll read the description but that's a bit like reading the instructions and who needs them. A great spot, as we pulled up 2 emus were drinking at the dam.

The dam is full and ready for the next fire season. TFTC. Big Grin

When you come across a cache code of only 5 digits you know its an oldie. Its great to see such a cache still active and in such a out of the way location. Enjoyed finding our way in here. SL TFTC

This was our 2nd attempt at this one. 1st time it was nearly dark and raining so GeoMum threw in the towel. Came back today when conditions were better and GeoDad found it in no time. TFTCSL Took nothing, left mighty bean.

Took bottle opener and left sabre tooth tiger. Thanks for the cache - great location in a lovely park. Saw lots of native orchids on our walk in.

No problems finding this one. Stopped about 400m from cache and walked, seeing as we only have a 2wd and there had been a lot of rain.... coordinates were perfect. Smile Thanks very much for the cache. I will have to come back here with my binoculars, there were so many birds in the area and the waterhole would make a great spot for a bit of birdwatching.

Having come up a ½ a day early to going riding in the central block I spent my time wisely by collecting a couple of caches in the eastern block.
This was my second and wasn't where I expected to find a bucket hidden in the desert. Always nice to find one of the older caches.
My thanks to Team Piggy

We don't know why but there is always something satisfying about finding one of the real early ones and to still have the original log book makes it even better. We enjoyed the walk out to the cache and then came back to check out the information plaque
Thanks Team Piggy for keeping this cache going
