On a time limit and couldnt see it anywhere.

Sadly I had no luck here Ill be back!

We were able to drop by and replace the logbook and cache container today. The first container was in situ for 20 years!

31-Mar-23
Called in to grab this with sir_spectre as he had been telling me tales of his adventure driving down this road with a load on concrete.... scary.
Thanks

i passed this way yesterday in the truck and had to drive/crawl down the extreme bit of the road to the lookout and then through the farmers gate " hugging the hills in the truck " down almost to the sand on the beach. There is a stone house getting rebuilt about half way to the right where you can see the dam. Stopped on the way back to find the cache ( and blocking the road ) only to look for about 40 seconds to find the farmer/site owner wanting to go down the road. What are the odds ?
Returned today with mogni. GPS would not settle but found it after a short wet search in a logical spot. The lid is missing a section but log was dry. I left it upside down. Sorry to not replace the container but have just taken everything out the boot to repack for the rutherglen mega in victoria. I do think this location has better views than the lookout and from the beach. fav point for the location. Also nice to get a old cache 2003.

27-Feb-21
In all our travels we would not have even thought to travel to this location.
(Ha Ha). In your dreams, these cachers do.

[:(!] Thanks for an awesome effort.

We've actually never driven down this road until today. The geocache took a while to find, and I ended up with my pants covered in prickles and burrs. Eventually we had the container in hand and managed to write our name in the logbook.

With a fairly strong southerly blowing today, there were a few gliders gathered at the carpark below. We drove down to the lower park and ate lunch while watching one feller practising his flying skills.

Thanks GPS.

25-Jul-20
Lovely spot took a bit of looking to find but found it, cache needs a bit of attention ️

26-Jun-20
Wet conditions meant the track to this was a little "iffy" but we got there. Wow .... the road certainly drops after the cache!!! We soon understood the cache title .... very spectacular! Log was dampish but we were able to sign it without problems with our tank pen. A favourite for the adventure!!

17-Apr-20
Quick find but unable to sign log as it was wet. TFTC

05-Jul-19
Took the trek up the massive road to unveil a pure slice of heaven. Then onto the cache... found eventually but everything is soaked. Managed a signature then went on to admire the scenery. Thanks for bringing us here and the cache

Jesswrigley and I were staying for an extended weekend just outside Cape Jervis, and today was a small detour to Victor Harbor and surrounds. We attended the 5 km Parkrun in Encounter Bay, followed by breakfast, and a drive to Port Elliot and then Goolwa, collecting a few sporadic geocaches. We then drove back and stopped off at Ingalalla Falls and drove to a few oldie caches along the coast before arriving back at Cape Jervis just in time for dinner!

Had spotted this oldie of GPS' as CO, and so this cache was certainly on our list to find during our visit down south. Although it was Summer, the weather was nice, and the road was dry enough to allow our jeep to easily make the journey. We were glad that the CO was kind enough to not require us to go down the extreme section, and nevertheless we had awesome views of the coastal surrounds.

We searched around 10 min for the cache before finally making the find. The cache seemed to be within 4 m of GZ. We did think difficulty 1 / terrain 1 may be a little conservative for this cache's requirements to access, however I'm sure this is old school grading that remains unchanged since cache placement. Nice to have found this less visited cache, thanks GPS.

16-Feb-19
Took a bit of rummaging around but eventually found! Amazing road leading in, with some spectacular views of the coast!

08-Dec-18
After a drive down the back roads I reached a spot near the cache. Great views from here.

Thanks for the cache Gordon Patrick Samuel.

Found It!
An amazing little spot you'd never visit if not for caching! After a bit of poking around I spotted the cache and then went back to admiring the awesome views! Although I was left wondering why there is a 3 phase power line going down to the bottom of the hill...

Found the cache before spotting a hand glider just down the road.
A steep road to park on and with only a 2wd the road was bumpy at times.
Mick from 3LG did a great job driving and not going over the edge near bottom of road.
Linda stopped to take photo's.

Found with The X Trailers on holidays here from Qld and earthlight as well, it was a great 4 days with plenty of laughs along the way, toady we are now starting to make the homeward journey and the weather is quite nice to us with only a small passing shower, was a fairly quick find for us today after driving our 2WD down there, when you see a sign that says 4WD only you have to at least try and see lol. TFTC

26-Sep-15
Searched a while but no luck. Nice view of the ocean

22-Aug-15
Do not go when wet!!!!

20-Jun-15
Found the cache after almost 2yrs since its last human visitation.
The GPS coordinates were about 3m off according to my phone, but after a 2 min hunt and a bit of scrabbling around in the bush on hands and knees we found it. Well hidden and well camouflaged - we were virtually on top of it before we could see it - but very happy to have it in hand. Signed the log and returned to the Geocar with a big smile.
Stunning day down at Tunks today - hardly a breath of wind, but quite chilly - did a lovely 7km hike from Tunkalilla carpark to Boat Harbour Beach in Deep creek with the Geowife - saw a pod of dolphins, a seal, dozens of kangaroos and a few keen surfers on some big green clean waves. The quality of the road was ok for 2wd cars to get to the Tunkalilla car park - its steep but not rutted / not loose

10-Nov-13
Too much under growth could not find after coming across a 5ft snake earlier on our geocaching
will revisit later after summer.

14-Jul-13
Paper was a bit wet as there is a small hole in the container. But it was a great find, thanks Smile

10-Jun-13
I was supposed to be on my way home from the JLWE: I eventually left Normanville at about 5pm Wink
During the day I had a great time doing the locus cache on numerous caches with absolutely gorgeous scenery all around [^]

Loved the drive on this road, it only got tricky when dealing with vehicles going the opposite direction Wink
What amazing views and it is well worth coming to do this cache, at least!
I continued on down the road to the car park and watched the sea, sky and people walking along the beach for a while Cool

02-Sep-12
I found a convenient parking spot, behind another car. Just as I started looking for the cache I heard voices. Concerned that I hadn't blocked them in I went to check. On hearing that they were okay I dived back into the bush - god only knows what the thought of my actions!

The cache was spotted on the way back in making for an easy smilie. (If this is the original container it has lasted well, but it has developed a small hole and will require replacing at some stage.)

The road down to the beach appears to have recently be worked on and now has a decent surface.

Thanks for bringing me here Gordon Patrick Samuel. Oh, yes it was a spectacular view from on high.

02-Apr-12
A good drive to the cache. Didn't go down to the beach today. Probably good fishing down there. Thanks Gordon Patrick Samuel.

29-Dec-11
On our drive down to the cache, there were a few off-road trail bikes scooting around, with their associated vehilces and trailers we had to drive around as well Surprised. It looked like they were all up to no good Twisted.
Stopped at GZ and had to look around for quite some time to find the cache (We think the D1/T1 is a little understated - probably more like D2/T2 considering the crawling around we had to do) Razz.
TNLNSL.
A small ute drove up the steep incline while we were there, so it's probably OK for cars when the road's dry [8]. Noticed the bottom carpark was empty today as well.
Thanks Gordon Patrick Samuel.

after crawling around and standing to find millions of prickles stuck to me butt decided Nat0507 can get in to find this one lol tftc !!!

02-Dec-11
Found after dealing with all those horrible evil prickles that stick to ya like poo to a blanket.. Still have to get the rest of them out of my socks.. Great spot, Haven't been to Tunk for years and years.. Still a fantastic special place..

02-Dec-11
Looked straight over it the first time but thought Id have another look before giving up. What a great hide Smile TFTC

02-Feb-11
Every now and then, we find a cache that is just right for us ... this is one, a combination of things really, the journey, the view of the Southern Ocean, the sunshine and the challenge of finding a well hidden cache. Those things combined with the possibility of some exciting photography and the perfect seaside picnic spot (down the hill to the car park), make this one of our favourites ... Thank you !!.

30-Jan-11
Was out on a drive with the High Range 4WD Club down south today in the heat and grabbed a few caches as well.

Great view from this location but the wind was all wrong for the hang gliders. TFTC. Big Grin

I was there too, on hands and knees and found the cache.

Nice easy find with a great view early this sunny morning. Couldn't figure out the name of the cache until I drove to the end of the road and a sign said it all. Very calm this morning so maybe that was why there was no "hanging out" today. TFTC

Fantastic view from here! Very windy day with scattered summer showers. We continued on to the lower car park & followed the track to the beach. Great beach for walking - about 5km long and not a soul except us. Not a great beach for swimming though, nasty big waves dumping right in close to the beach.

29-Nov-08
No hang-gliders in evidence today. Just a bit of spitting rain.

TNLNSL.

17-Nov-08
Found it easily! The container has a small hole in it so hopefully it will be ok, I didnt have another one to replace it with. Enjoyed the view from the carpark further down the road, no hang gliders here today tho. The road had just been graded so not sure what it was like before but there are loose stones now! TFTC

23-Mar-08
While looking for this one the title of the 1976 Amnesty International benefit show, “A Poke In The Eye With A Sharp Stick”, came to mind!
However after few pokes, scratches and a bit of crawling under and over the branches the cache was retrieved and replaced.
T: Paperclip.
L: Lizard.
Thanks Gordon Patrick Samuel for bringing us to this remote spot with such a beautiful view.

28-Feb-08
What a view! We would never have come down this road if it was not for the cache. It happened to be a windy day and we travelled to the end of the road to see a few hang gliders. One was taking off just as we got there and we were able to get some good photos. (which i will try and upload)

We ended up watching them for some time before realising the time..

Took a while but found it. Busy road while we were there searching. One guy stopped to ask if we were ok. Can't be too bad a road this time of year if you can drive a ute down it.

Thanks Gordon Patrick Samuel. Good hide.

Found with Postiegirl during our 2007 Fluro caching blitz.
Ran into the Noodler again. He beat PG06 to the cache which was funny. An awesome little piece of road. Shame we were on a mission. I would have liked to have gone to the end of the road to see where it ended up.

Found 14:15. Day 3 of our Fleurieu Caching Holiday, 8th of 10 FFTD. What a perfect day for caching (Like everyday Big Grin!), despite the 100mm of rain. Funny how a little rain turns 2 inches of dust covered road into 3 inches of mud! I wish I could say 'Nice little drive-by', however I can't. On a clear day the views would be spectacular, and watch hang-gliders superb. Somehow Mrs E bogged the Geopatrol on the road on the way out! Big Grin. Took: Coin, Left: Muddy + Wet, SL. TFTC.

26-Apr-07
No one hanging out today. Probably very sensible people due to the high rainfall in the area. A fantastic view from the top of the hill and even the bottom despite the grey clouds overhead. Found cache just as rain was beginning to fall again. TNLN TFTC

Hung out at Hanging Out on what was an awesome day. Admired the view for a bit and then hit the road home after a great Easter weekend. Took strap left geocoin.

Out on the Motorbikes today. Great spot for the gliders. Excellent views of KI.GPS took us straight to GZ. TFTH. Big Grin

07-Jan-07
They were certainly hanging out today.
Lots of hang gliders up in the air with an equal number on the ground at the launch area.
There was even a remote controlled scale model glider putting on a show when we got there.

07-Jan-07
Lots of people hanging out today. A remote control glider was also hanging out so Geotoddler went for a closer look.
Found it after a quick hunt TNLNSL

21-Sep-06
Was camping at Stringbark so decided to do some caches around the area. Disturbed lots of crows flying around on the way to the cache - were hoping that it meant the Crows would fly on the weekend but alas not to be. Was too windy for anyone to be hanging out today. Left a dolphin magnet and a klem bear and took a screwdriver. Haven't been down this way for years so thanks for bringing us back GPS.

Another excellent view that we wouldn't have seen if it had not been for geocaching. Found the well hidden cache quickly, the GPSr spot on here today. Checked out the beach but no-one here today which is not surprising in this near gale force wind
Left Boomerang Key ring

Found this one today, very nicely hidden, nice spot. I used to 'hang' around here which is why I chose to look for it, strange I guessed the wrong spot firstly [B)].

TN Left Internode pen and signed log.

It was a very wet and windy day today and the road was not too bad but you wouldnt want to go beyond this cache without 4WD, Nice to have 4WD and a nice heater too anyway Smile.

Thanks

This was our second attempt to find this Cache. Finally We have been succesful - YIPEE!!!!
It is an overcast day today. We have seen some handgliders down the way a bit.
Thanks for the cache.
Took Gonzo
Left Dog Magnet.

27-Mar-05

As I was turning around to come out, I signalled a camper to proceed. No way – the girl passenger looked petrified!! No way they were going down -…… I wound down my window and the bloke driver said the ‘ol girl would not make it back up. Fair enough. A Nissan Patrol laboured up the slope – so no way this older Nissan camper would have made it. A cruiser would have had to tow it up I guess Big Grin.

Left a love heart keyring and took the tiny tissues.
Thanks GPS, clear skies, Astro.

Defiately not MIA, just lying in wait.
No aerial activities tody unfortunately so without there distractions cache was found pretty quickly and is in good condition. Took a racing car and left a golf ball and Gonzo to entertain the next visitor. Cheers GPS
PS. Great view from here isn't it!

This was about the only time today that the GPS put me right on top of it.
Am I following Richary or what?
16 of 19 for the day.
TNLNSL
No one hanging around today.

17-Oct-04
Like the previous log, I found this about 7 metres down the hill from where the GPSr wanted me, lying out in the open. No visitors for a few months yet the grass near GZ was quite well trampled. Not sure what is going on here.

Took a grasshopper figure and left a clip, before replacing it back where I thought it should be and hopefully won't roll away. The hangers were out today as well.

Cheers GPS.

30-May-04
A nice view flooded the windscreen as we rounded the bend. We managed to find a parking spot 100mtrs from the cache. It looked like the cache had rolled down the hill a little so we replaced it as best we could. Took modelling clay and left a car in a tin.

13-Mar-04
Headed a long way down the wrong track and wasn’t getting any closer than 2.3km when the track abruptly terminated! Hmmm - a cul-de-sac all the way out here! Surprised Headed back and found the right track and the right location. Had to make like a wombat to locate and retrieve this cache! TNLNSL. Spotted a couple of ‘Birdmen’ in the area – so this is where they train for the Glenelg Birdman Rally! Smile

08-Jan-04
Found at 16:30.
Everyone else's 3 minute attention span had expired, so with 4 in the car I found it alone.
We'd come here by mistake on our way to another cache.
Took nothing, left nothing (the person with the goodies was in the car).
Thanks GPS.

It was Cold and windy, Found it ok, we had to dodge for cover from the rain. The road was wet and slippery in some places.Took Paintbrush Left Toy Horse. Thanks Gordon.

Whoo hoo, good thing we were in 4WD's that dry weather track was wet, slippery and so much fun! No Hangers today, too cold, wet and windy, rained so hard we had to hide in the car with the cache and wait for it too ease up. Took penguin keyring, left pen and mickey mouse clip. Thanks GPS.

03-Sep-03
Found by Mary & David at 1410. GeoCalais had no trouble with the dry weather track in today's lovely weather. A few potholes to be dodged but no real problems. Great views at GZ accompanied by the sound of the surf down below. Another place we would not have known about if not for geocaching. Took letter opener, left key ring, snake and hair tie. Many thanks to GPS.

17-Jul-03
GPS,

A perfect spot for a picnic on the grass. Park rangers over on the hill looked on. Sheep the size of ants at the foot of the hill frolicked in the sunshine.

No hangers-on today, just a couple of well wet suited seal look-alikes catching a wave or two.

We ventured down to the take off point and watched row upon row of waves curl in.

The lighthouse on the island and the pages filled the rest of the horizon.

Fantastic spot. Thanks for the cache.

Regards

Freddo and friends.

PS Unfortunately no whales today.

Took nothing & left Modelling Clay.
A great view from this area, beware on the road in, the surfie bums seem to think that blind corners mean they can use the wrong side..The rapidly oncoming Pig-mobile Bull-bar soon changed their ideas.

Thanks for bringing us to a new place, lovely view, plenty of cars passing by. Took hose adapter and left an electrical double adapter

What a great outlook - we will definitely return on a warm sunny day and a picnic lunch. The road in is steep and interesting but take care especially if you are in a 2wd and it has been wet (though Jock and Alex didn't seem to have any trouble). Took sharpener and left padlock. Thanks GPS for showing us this wonderful area.

What a party cache, Piggies and Baby Boomers Jock and I all over the place. Me, I just signed the log when it was passed to me and passed it on to the next finder.
Great view across Backstairs Passage, thanks GPS.
