T4t$. Was very happy to find this 21 year old cache. Container is showing rodent damage.
I havent had much luck with TeamAstro caches so far. The one in Blackall caused me no end of grief and when I finally got to GZ it was missing. My trip to the moon started out really well. I found all the numbers I needed, calculated the waypoint, and drove out there. The GPS said I was within 4 m but there was no sign. There were some phone numbers but they didnt make sense so I messaged the owner and he was very accommodating. I eventually did reach GZ after a pleasant lunch with the peacocks. I usually look everywhere but the right place when it comes to hides in rocks, but the last few days I have had incredible success, and this one was no different. The well hidden container was quickly discovered. I signed my name, put the logbook in a new plastic bag after reading through it and returned the rocks as they were. So now I have finally been to the moon and the moon has the ORIGINAL logbook from 2003. Fantastic; thanks for the cache. I suspect, sadly, it will be quite some time before I go on any more planetary explorations with TeamAstro, but if I do, I reckon Ill enjoy them.
TFTC,Did most at home but needed to be told I did something wrong at WP3 before I got it correct.Out on a caching mission today to complete a Challenge cache that requires you to find 6 of the oldest 12 caches in Mt Isa and 4 different types of caches. Had 1 from a previous visit Visited trackables and added a favourite.
After searching awhile the container was discovered. Wazza9 has been working on this multi for sometime. It was a pleasure to find this old cache. Stamped log and replaced. Thanks to CO
Awesome to say that I am the first cacher to log this youngling of a cache in this calendar year. Was really impressed at the final with heaps to see and keep me amused with Dam Walls, trig points and Q150 survey markers .Ended up going a little to the north of the dam afterwards also. Ive been looking at all these Comet caches for about 10 years,so its really really nice to tick another one off. Cheers the bug
We were staying for couple of days in Mount Isa to get as many caches as possible - quite successful when we left. We can be very happy with the result! Walks, hikes, bushbashing, drives, stops and goes, big caches, small caches, usual hides, unusual hides, stuck on dirt roads, wrong turns: we had it all. Thanks to all cache owners for keeping us busy and entertained! We saw interesting areas, more suburbs, in other words: we had a ball!Tftc TeamAstro
Enjoying my very first visit to Mount Isa in the company of RoddyC, hatzofff, and grannysmith1947. To save space in the log sheets, we are signing as Team Q4.There were a good variety of caches on offer, and the majority were easy enough to find and were in good condition, with no DNF's to record. The scenery was ever changing, and we came across some really spectacular views today. Thank you, TeamAstro, for placing this cache for our benefit and enjoyment. It is always exciting to find an old one, especially with the original logbook in tact. The dam and surrounding area out here was beautiful and a real pleasure to visit
TFTC smile 16993 out and about on a lovely day signed and replaced as Team Q4 Snickersallan Hatzofff and RoddyC and TBU another Oldie for a oldie FP Thank you TeamAstro for placing this cache for our enjoyment
Travelling with RoddyC, snickersallan and grannysmith1947 as TeamQ4 and TBUs.Day 3 in the Mount Isa area to complete some challenges and get some more smiles.A little search then widened and there it was. Great hide.TFTCache TeamAstro
More exploring around Mount Isa with hatzofff, Grannysmith1947 and Snickersallan. Signed as Team Q4.Today we journey to the lake and back after some really early hill work.Yep. Lotsa rocks!Log signed and cache replaced as found on 27 September 2023. TFTC, TeamAstro
We started at the furthest cache out on Lake Mondarra and worked our way back towards the City. Some caches were easy to get to, some needed bigger efforts, some were quickly found, some took longer .... It was a fun day out. Thanks to all cache owners who put out these caches for our enjoyment.
After a helping hand from a local cacher, this was a lovely drive to the look out.Cache in good conditionTftc
Day 19With the QOGM event now over it was time to head up to Mount Isa to a town we had never visited before bringing us higher in Queensland than we have ever been before. Our aim is to do some solved puzzles, multis, the virtual, labcaches and some older trads, not to mention sightseeing. Our first full day caching locally we set out after breakfast to explore the town and surrounding areas. With some help from the CO we were able to complete this multi today in such a glorious location. The hide took longer to find than it should but the fit Triton found it after his cache blindness disappeared. Cache in great condition. Thanks TeamAstro for the multi placement.
We are off on a trip to the Birdsville Races and then across to Queensland - the plan is for about 6 weeks of travel - all going well.
Week 1 we have travelled from Portland to Farrell's Flat near Clare.
Week 2 was Clare to Port Augusta.
Week 3 Port Augusta to Birdsville.
Day 25 and we are in Mt Isa for a couple of days. We decided to head out to Lake Moondarra and find a few caches by bike, Originally our intentions were to ride the bike trail but it was so nice out here we rode around the lake instead.
Calculations were completed and Mr Morris was sent out to make the find. There was a bit of grizzling about rocks and snakes but eventually he made the find.
Thanks for contributing to our holiday TeamAstro

Left the van early and headed to the lake to watch the early morning sun over the lake and surrounding area. We were not disappointed everything was so green looking, and the sun made the hills stand out. It did take us some time to find the cache so many rocks here to be looking under.. Gotcha??..On our way back to the car, we bumpt into fellow geos Greg and Judi and had a great chat with them. ?? Thanks for bringing us here ??
Day 85 of our greynomad trip up north from Vic, after a the JLWEvents in Wudinna SA, a tour of Maralinga and caching to claim LGAs in the Eyre Peninsula, through to Alice Springs, Uluru, Darwin, Kakadu and Litchfield we continue our journey back south. It is also day 84 of a streak.
Staying in Mt Isa for a few nights more than we originally planned as we require a car repair. Calculated coordinates a few days ago and todays task was to find this one and a couple of other Mt Isa oldies to qualify for a challenge. When we arrived Gem54 were chatting nearby to a local, but Mrs Gem54 led me to the cache, which they had taken some time to find. Thanks TeamAstro, for the brain and physical challenge, I don't like rocks, or spinifex and Mt Isa sure has its abundance of both.

Trying to solve as many multis/mysteries as possible on our short stay in Mt Isa, very impressed with the quality, some of the best geocaches on our BIG Lap of OZ !!!
This started off well, but at WP2 the phone number has gone missing from the gates, so researched Mr Google, whom eventually revealed a phone number which seemed relevant to the now decommissioned site, tried our luck with our calculated GZ which looked correct from previous logs, and WOOHOO the cache was found, well that was lucky, TFTC TeamAstro

So I start this cache in 2012, and because I had no idea on how to use a gps, and no apps on phones I gave up. Now 2023, a bit more time on my hands, and a new gps, I had another go, im glad i did. Thanks for the cache.
Loved the peacocks! Loved the views! Loved the birds! Loved the sun set as we found the cache. FP from me
It’s rather glorious weather we’re having in Mt Isa - great for walking and getting out and about. This morning we visited the WPs, had no trouble finding the required information and we were soon on our way to GZ. We even remembered to do the offset. (We suspected we might find the cache out here. )
Hmmm, so many options here but one particular nook looked good… and it was. We do enjoy finding these original logbooks too. The cache is in good order.
Many thanks TeamAstro for another cache in this beaut series.

We did this puzzle over a number of days. On the first day when we arrived in Mount Isa, we collected some information and put it aside planning to do the number flashing following day.
Seeing where waypoint 2 was, we managed to collect it after a trip out to the lake.
Today, Sunny but with a very cold wind, we came back out again and added our projection and distance bearings.
It was then time to go looking, and after a short search we soon had this one found. We then had time to take a walk across the wall of the dam and enjoy the beautiful views. Being a Sunday, there were quite a few families here also.
Thanks TeamAstro for maintaining this oldie, Thanks also for the great location at GZ and multi field puzzle.
A FP added.

Gathered the required information yesterday and today as pprass was in the vicinity he headed over and started to search amongst the 1,562,000 possible places that it could be hidden in - and with the projection that had to be made - who knew if the co-ords were within 50 metres of GZ
Any way had a look where it was thought it would be and blow me down - I could see a very nice little nook and there it was
Didn't think that was going to happen!
Thanks TeamAstro.

This day 2 in Mount Isa with the plan of finding as many caches as we can in the time we have here. The two main goals for tis visit was the Adventure labs and this cache.
We collected some of the information yesterday and got the rest this morning before heading off to gz. Here we were rewarded with a fantastic location with some magnificent views. We searched around for awhile with no luck but we were determined not to give up on this one as we really love this series and happily Diane spotted something slightly out of place and sure enough it was the cache container, the log book of which now contains our name.
Many thanks TeamAstro for another in this great series, a favourite point from us, we are getting closer to visiting all the planets.

Very nicely designed multi. I hope we get to do many more of the comet series. One of the cities numbers didn’t seem to work out so I spoke to a previous finder who put me on the right track. Still can’t see how that worked out, but it enabled us to continue on and complete the waypoints. GZ was a top spot and tied in nicely with the theme. If it wasn’t such a hot day we would have stayed longer and appreciated the location more. Thanks for highlighting it with this cache.
I had this golden oldie on my must do list for this trip.
Collecting the information needed, I made my way to gz this morning and quickly had the cache in hand. I loved reading through the old logs, so pleased to see the original log book still being used.
Thanks Team Astro for this great multi. An FP from me.

Day 4 of 8 (Cloncurry-Mt Isa-Cloncurry) of a Queenslander road trip with Kestal, clocking just over 4000km, to tick off boxes for different challenges. This was one of the first caches to be added to the list. It is one I have looked at many, many times over the years but never thought I would make it here. Having read some previous logs I was a little concerned at stumbling at the last hurdle and not being able to make the find. Fears were unfounded as this is a straightforward, easy to follow little multi. Although, we were nearly the cause of a potential hiccup…we knew there was no service at GZ, yet still left WP2 forgetting to make the final projection! I screeched to a halt along the road remembering this minor detail and thankfully we still had one bar of 4G left to make the calculations. These coords led us straight to GZ with the cache being in the first place we looked…Kestal being very pleased to make this her 6000th find!! A fave pt for the adventure and sheer joy at ticking of this multi, which is in a beaut spot! TFTC TeamAstro.
Day 4 of our tour around Queensland saw Eskies5 and myself venture to Mt Isa and back to Cloncurry. It was milestone day and a few caches needed to be gathered to hit the right target.
#6000
This adventure was planned out in the thought I could keep a tradition going with finding each of my milestones happening in a different state. Well COVID like so many other plans that have had there courses changed so was this one.
Our planned duck across the NT border from Queensland came into question a few weeks ago when other states started locking down and imposing border restrictions. So with plans changed I happily decided one of the many oldies on this adventure would become 6000. But which one? With so many to chose from.
As we travelled along and went passed Comet Moon in Blackall and Endurance in Longreach it was becoming more certain it was either going to be Porky Gorge north of Hughenden or Comet Moon in Mt Isa.
Waking up on Day 4 only a small handful of caches needed to be gathered on our way to and in Mt Isa to make this one the milestone.
With Waypoints ticking off we were certain we were on the right track until Eskies5 came to a screeching halt because we had forgotten one last step. Thankfully we still had the means to do the calculations and we didn’t need to turn around.
Arriving at GZ we went this way and then that before choosing the best path to the hide. Woohoo! The cache was in the first place we looked. Cache number 6000 signed and returned. TFTC and being a big part of this adventure Team Astro

Out to avenge a dnf from 5 years ago. And I almost messed it up again. It pays to read all the instructions on the fact sheet. So if you aren’t projecting you haven’t done all the work yet. A mighty multi that took me to the moon and back again. Thanks to the CO who knows how much I really enjoy a good multi. A favourite point from me for the clever journey. TFTC
Staying in Mount Isa and after messing up my final projection yesterday with fat fingers ventured outnlast night and checked the information again. I definitelynhad it right and this time the projection looked a lot better than the centrenof town! The CO was kind enough to confirm that I had the right projection so this morning I headed off to GZ.
I parked nearby and it was a lovely 9 degrees with a wind chill thqat took it down to 5 degrees. I had a chat to young bloke who was flying his drone before headed to GZ.
Once at GZ it was a short search and the cache was soon in hand. Elevation can be an interesting thing.
Once the log was signed all was returned as found.
A great multi that hqs stood the test of time. I can only wonder why it hasn't got more favourite points! They just don't give FP's out in Aus like they do in Europe. It gets a FP from me.

In town for my Nieces 18th... while all was quiet on the home front we thought we’d slip out and put a few more smilies on the map. Quick fund and happy to see the newly replaced container. Added a discoverable trinket, signed the log and replaced as found TFTC TeamAstro
Into the fourth week of my solo trip north into Queensland from Adelaide and, after spending a couple of days in and around Mount Isa, its time to head west into the Northern Territory. My original (rather loose) plan was to possibly go a bit further north to Lawn Hill. However its a bit late in the season and things have warmed up a bit too much (particularly for walking and camping), so I’ll leave that trip for another time.
This was my first cache for the day. I had planned to come out this way early, in the cool of the morning, to do a walk and find few of the caches in the hills. However, I ended up getting on the road a little later than expected and by the time I got here a long walk no longer seemed sensible. The other caches will have to wait for another trip!
I have previously found a number of this ‘comet’ series scattered around the country and incuded this one on my target list for the trip.
After collecting the initial required information yesterday for the first step yesterday, it was just a matter of completing the test this morning. Fortunately the cache was found quite quickly.
As noted by the last finder, the container has pretty well seen its day and is crumbling. However the contents were in good order. Knowing the CO and that it is unlikely that he will be here any time soon, I removed the old container and replaced it with a new one of a similar size. I put the contents from the old one into it. Hopefully this will last another 14 years!
Thanks TeamAstro for the cache.

It's a tragic thing travelling with a muggle mate driving that has zero interest in geocaching.
Stopped up here to cook up some brekky and coffee while waiting for the info centre to open, went and calculated where wp2 is......
Sigh..
....one day hopefully i'll come back and continue the hunt for one of qld's oldest caches.

Almost didn’t make it. Went to the original final because it seem the projection isn’t for everyone. Thanks for keeping this old one alive. Cheers for the placement
My muggle husband and I are on a trip from the to Mt Isa to stay with a good friend here for 3 days. Today we went to find this cache and spent awhile looking at 42 degree heat and decided to abandon. I sent message to the co to confirm my coordinates were correct and I kindly got a reply to say I was pretty spot on.. so we waited to it cooled down and came back. This time it took us around 30 minutes to find the cache. We looked in every spot near gz but the place it was. We then enjoyed the views from gz. This was the cache I really wanted to find this trip and so I was so happy to find it. I loved how everything tied in with the title. Giving it a FP for all the fun.Thankyou
A cache from 2003 in MI? Thats our goal today. We did stage one yesterday and we had a pretty good guess where about the cache might be. So decided to go on a little sunday trip today. A little confuse by instructions on the sheet and then again in the listing, we wondered about the proximity of the neighbouring cache, until we realised we still had to aim a little further. Found the box and then enjoyed the lovely area.

With Fangsoki and Crew153 in the mighty Canyonero, we hit the outback in search of the oldest and finest Queensland has to offer. 6000+ kms in 8 days - an epic journey. Day three and we are here. Being one of the state's oldest 100 active caches this was a must-find for our trip. And, being bluntly honest, we stuffed it up badly. But we did manage to find it in the end.
Trips like ours have to be aware of a schedule. It was 4pm and we "needed" to be more than two hours up the road before dark ('roo OClock'). We grabbed STEP one no problems, and as expected headed to where we anticipated GZ would be. SO far so good. For reasons now lost to our fuddled old age memories we believed the sign at the next waypoint had been changed and would be of no use to us. We had some vague intel on approximate final location so went straight there. Note for others ... the signs are all there.
We also believed the comment in the description about an offset did not apply to us. That was probably right, but it sure applies if you do this properly. We did not do things properly. Also of note - there really is no mobile coverage at GZ - really once you get to the first waypoint that's the end of the interwebbies. Don't be like us and intend to rely on them.
Right. At our chosen GZ we realised we may be in trouble as there are a lot of options to match likely GZ hide. We fanned out and searched (actually turns out we searched in the close area of final GZ, without seeing it). We spent far too long hunting aimlessly. That said, the Dam is quite pretty here and the odd forlorn look at it was its own reward.
We retreated to get the intergoogles (still, didn't cross our collective 'brains' to do this properly), got a bit more of a clue from nameless sources and back into the hunt we went. That worked and we did end up finding it (phew). Cache is in fine condition.
In order to help the CO we did (finally) get a photo of the sign on our way out. A quick in-car calculation showed that this sign would get you nowhere near finals so we proceeded on our way.
There is an offset in the description. If you use that offset it will take you to where we found the container.[8)][8)] OK, somewhat sheepishly I contend that there is nothing wrong with this cache and all the steps work together for a constructed multi-cache that leads you on the journey as intended.
Sigh. We rushed it and stuffed it. Take the time peoples to enjoy every step of this one, it is very worthwhile. For those playing at home we had about half an hour of roo-darkness, but arrived safely.
Thanks TeamAstro for taking me to this location.

When Fangsoki and Pprime (P') mentioned about a road trip to get the old caches in outback Queensland I jumped at the chance to see some of our great country. The 8 day tour covered some 6,000km and a day on a boat in the Whitsundays. I wouldn't have missed the adventure for the world.
We needed assistance from previous finders to narrow down our search. It took us way too long to get to the right spot but I eventually spotted a familiar looking disturbance of rocks and there was a cache hidden in there.
Another off the oldest 100 list for us.

Pprime, Crew 153, and I were out hunting Queensland's Oldest 100 caches - and this is one of them.
We had problems with the questions - but we managed to glean enough information from a friend. To GZ with us!
And do you think we could find it? Phone signal is very poor. Failure is not an option. I managed to send another message through to my friend but never got another one back. We headed back into Mt Isa for some much needed phone signal.
I then received SMSes from my friend. Quick! Back to GZ. We didn't find it straight off - but we found it with the help of some previous photos. Phew! Pprime will send the owner through some information that might help get the multi part going again.
A great spot to visit. Very happy we can cross this one off after a mammoth effort. TFTC TeamAsto

Well that was an interesting find. Armed with some old Intel, I searched where it used to be. Great view from here by the way. Some text messages to the CO and I was soon at the new GZ with cache in hand. TFT adventure.
Detour around Australia- family of 6 in a camper trailer for 6 months!
After spending 5 nights at Lawn Hill, we needed to come back into town and restock before moving further west. We spent a lovely few days in Mt Isa the mining town, and we enjoyed all the walks and views in the area!
This cache was on my list of must-do's after finding Comet Indarra at Lawn Hill the other day! I'm a bit annoyed now i have missed some of the comet series in our travels, so we might have to do this big trip again to get the rest!!!
This one had us busy for more than a little while. We were getting frustrated with our projected coords and when i was almost ready to give up, the geohubby stopped trying to correct the coords, looked up from the compass and saw the cache!! He was actually spot on!!!
Thanks for the cache! loved this one as well!!!

Hi there TeamAstro - today was our fifth full day in Mt Isa, and after a late start we to have lunch at the dam before looking for a few caches on the way back. We had done our homework for this cache yesterday and by chance met up with FelixII at the town lookout. The cache and log are in good condition - SL. This is our find #4929 - thanks to TeamAstro for this cache.
In Mt Isa for a few days shopping before heading north.
we gathered the info a month ago for this cache but having only just visited the Lake we were unable to revisit last month. So today we made sure that the 'class' was headed this way. Interesting cache but a little unorthodox. Cache found within 5 metres of our projected GZ. Slowly ticking off the caches in the solar system
Today Mr Felix headed out to help introduce our game to some new friends met at Birdsville during the Big Red Bash.

Find #2077
After a long trip around through Broken Hill and the Red Centre, this was the first of three caches on my must find list. We didn't have time to look last night when we arrived so I got up before dawn and headed to the posted coords.
My phone locked up taking photos of the signs but I managed to get the information I required and then headed out of town. At WP2, the information was located quickly and easily and I was on my way to the final. After a drive, I was halfway across the dam wall when I thought I'd check the cache listing again for any notes on the hide. It was then that I noticed the projection. D'oh! Why is that not part of the info sheet? Better question, why is the contents of the info sheet not in the cache description?
Anyway, I was soon at GZ and searching all around the place but not having any luck. I did not want to DNF this one so I texted a previous finder. However, I finally located it before I received a reply. This is my second in the series after Comet Spit on the Gold Coast.

*Found with Waz and Vik in a roundabout way. We were both there last year as relative newbies and had never heard of projections etc. We attempted it the old fashioned way working out the direction and stepping out and we must have come within 5-10m as I discovered much later. This time while I am not physically there it was kinda of joint find as my parents called and consulted on how to do projections again. Given the lack of reception I just gave them the final coords and they wrote my name as well as a shared find. I enjoyed this multi when we did it and it took us to a lovely place on our trip around Australia and we even enjoyed a bash of French cricket with the family.
Update: have received an email from Team Astro and they are happy with my roundabout found log.

Finally found it with the help of a friend. Only took us 4 times. Thank you very much for the cache.
Yesterday we gathered the required information at WP1 for the multi ready for todays adventure. We gathered the required information at WP2 today and worked out the answers for GZ. We found the cache in its hidey hole, no muggles, so signed the log and headed off to the dam.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

We had made our way to Mount Isa today, and having set up camp and enjoyed a nice relaxing afternoon, it was time to head up to the Lookout and see what was required for this cache. We gathered all of the information needed, and decided to test drive the new sheet made by a recent finder. We had a new GZ calculated, and headed out towards the lake and began the search in the dark. Sadly the final GZ had us on the other side of the dam wall, and over the fence. This didn't seem right, so we headed back to town for a good night rest and decided to try and tackle it again in the morning We made our way nice and early out towards the lake again, this time with the coords from the original sheet, applying the additional offset too. This time we had a slightly different GZ, and began the search and in no time at all we had the cache in hand, and happily added our names to the logbook [^]

Found! After my second visit to the cache site I finally found the sucker after taking a step down. Being a new cacher I found this one pretty difficult to offset the old waypoint to lead to the new one as I'm only using my phone so I thought I'd upload an edited info sheet for people who don't have the luxury of time.
The edited info sheet can be found here:

Couldn't find... I don't understand why the information can't give the exact location Rather then having to track 337m. Anyways
The big move from Townsville to Mandurah WA. 5000km and lots of caches!:) Passing through The Isa and spending half a day here for some much needed stretching of legs and caching of course. Loved this little multi especially the final being at such a nice location.

We were very proud of ourselves for successfully completing this cache. WP's 1 and 2 were no problem but we really didn't know how to calculate the final GZ. It was only something in If's log that got us thinking and we found what we needed to finish this cache. Unlike If we couldn't do the necessary calculations on our GPS but did do them through the GCA toolbox.
Once we found the cache we abandoned caching for a few hours and enjoyed the area.
Thanks, a favourite point from us.

After heading to The Gulf we spotted a nice large cluster of geocaches a bit further south of us - so here we are in Mount Isa once again. The last time we were here was in 2012.
This was a nemesis cache for us back then, so this visit we made it a priority to remove it from our unfound list.
[/Blue]
Coordinate Accuracy: We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
Cache Condition: The container and log book are in good shape.
Took: Nothing.
Left: Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Had done step one and after work i headed for step two knew where i was going for step three too. Wrote my projected coordinates down wrong twice but finally I got it right! Plenty of places to hide but quite soon i spotted the hide.

Team cruzeycoop found it after working out how to project coordinates. Good hide, takes a little while to find as there is many good hiding spots in the area.

Team cruzeycoop has had to give this one a miss. Got to the "FINAL" coordinates but do not understand the rest of the steps in adding "142.5 degrees true" or walking the extra metres.
Nice view from the top.
Will give this one another try when we get some more information or help.

Camped at Corella Dam, but took a day run into Mount Isa,
to try our luck at this cache. Gathered all the information, and headed out to GZ.
After a bit of trial and error, and a wider search, we eventually found the hide.
Thanks for something a little different, worth a favourite point from us.

Arrived at the first co-ordinate, and solved Step 1. I am here on placement at the hospital from Brisbane, and without a car, was unable to travel to Step 2, and the subsequent final GZ. Still, a very great view from this look out.

Have been flying to mt isa for the last 12 months and had one crack at this one a week ago.
I was sure i had the location right, but with so many potential hiding spots its difficult to be sure.
Had a second shot at it tonight after work and almost walked straight to GZ after taking a slightly different veiw of the location.
This is unfortunately the last of the caches in the Isa for me so i suppose i will have to decide whether a drive to mary kathleen is on the cards.
Thanks Teamastro for the cache.

I came, I gathered data but then I had a DNF.
I was in the Isa for one night only while on my way home so had a crack at this but ended up giving up after having been in what looked like a likely GZ.
I ended up admiring the view and wishing I could have been behind one of the boats out on the water.
Maybe another time for me.

This cache has been on our to do list since we were in Mt Isa back on the 21.10.2009 when we made the choice not to go through the fence, WOW nearly four years ago, how time flies while having fun. .
Since then we have checked out the satellite image and felt we knew how to approach this cache from a different direction.
Now we have been through Mt Isa a few times since then but have always been on a mission and had no time to stop and have another crack at this cache. As we now work at Doomadgee Roadhouse some 470k’s away from Mt Isa and were given four days off we headed into Mt Isa, this cache was the first on the list for us. Back we went to the lookout as the info collected before has disappeared into a place that I am sure is very safe, so safe that I cannot find this place. All questions needed to be written down again as the info sheet was sitting safely in our motel room. We love safe places LOL.
Onto waypoint 2 and the info here was quickly gathered. Then onto the final. We headed to where we thought the cache would be and did a few things we felt uncomfortable about and came up empty. Back to the car and recheck our calculations and found I had not seen the numeral one. It is amazing how much difference not including the numeral 1 can make to your final calculation.
OK, back to the newly recalculated co-ords and still came up empty. It was getting late so headed back to the motel and choose to PAF. On talking to Team Astro it was mentioned about the offset. No, did not do that, certain we had not seen it on the cache page. Back to the calculation sheet and guess what we found, 337m at 142.5° true was on it as large as life. No wonder we did not find anything at our calculated GZ.
Next morning we headed out early with our third set of calculated set of co-ords and bingo found them to be true. A well concealed cache container was found. The cache is dry and in good condition. We are very happy to have a smiley for this one.
Thanks for the chat John. Next one on the mission list is Comet Kingfisher.

OK, im gonna have to give up on this one, I have recalculated my coords from step 1 and we drove out to the dam site, the coords I have calculated took me to an area where there is a large building surrounded by a fence, we looked all around for the sign with the phone number on but without luck, there was however two posts standing where a sign used to be between them, but no sign. I think that was our sign to carry on. OH well I must have cocked it up again. I read the previous logs and we had just been to the dam wall so TFTC anyway.
Did Not Find on the Central Qld leg of our Round Aust trip, see blog - http://mrlocks.tumblr.com/
Went for a drive up to the lookout, got the required intel but stuffed up the calculations, have re entered the data and a new waypoint added to check out tomorrow, LOL

My looking at Isa caches at camp last night revealed a "TeamAstro" cache lay in wait for me to find
So I dutifully did my research and thanks to a map managed to work out where waypoint two was
Driving into towne this morning I detoured out towards where I figured the cache was hidden and dropped by the gates near the dishes.
With the vital bits of the puzzle to paw I soon worked out where to head for next !!
No surprises there, given the cache name and all the clues
And after some other caches along the way had given me more than my daily quotient of exercise, I arrived at GZ before most of the crowd did
Except that I had forgotten that I wasn't at GZ.
Silly "If"
OK !! Using the GPS' "project waypoint' function, I soon had a proper cache impact site to head for.
Not hard to find once you spot the crater [^]
And a nice view too !!

Found as part of our 5 week trip from Adelaide to Lawn Hill and then onto the Territory.
Apologies for the late logs but Vodafone doesn't cover much of that part of the world.
We found 109 and had 10 dnfs, some more than once.
We went and found the cache and then had lunch in the park. Allison walked over to where the original cache is but decided not to enter the area. I was still looking for the new cache. Eventually found it safe and sound.
Now onto Lawn Hill.
Find number 4999.

The cache appears to be in need of owner intervention. I'm temporarily disabling it, to give the owner an opportunity to check on the cache, and take whatever action is necessary. Please respond to this situation in a timely manner (i.e., within 30 days) to prevent the cache from being archived for non-responsiveness. If you require more time please be sure to post a note (not an email) explaining the situation and how much more time you require. For ongoing issues please ensure you visit the page and post a note every month or so to keep everyone up to date.
Hi Astro,
It has now been four weeks (and four weekends) since we initially posted a "Needs Archive" log on this cache. As stated in that log, we don't believe that there is any "legal" way to retrieve the cache, and upon looking back through the logs:

the hole in the fence has been mentioned as an issue since way back in 2005.

the no trespassing sign has been mentioned in logs since 2007.
You mention in your note on 25 December 2010, "There is another way to access without going thru the fence with No Entry signs." So:
1. If there is indeed another way to access the cache, then spell it out on the cache page.
2. If there is no other way to access the cache, then please move it. (Local cachers have told me they are quite prepared to do this for you.)
3. If all else fails, Archive it. It will be a pity to see it go, but think of what may happen if an unlucky Geocacher gets caught and fined (or worse) by some zealous official that just happens to be in the wrong place at the time!

I will get this checked out. As far as I am aware, NOTHING has changed from the GZ situation since I placed the cache nearly 10 years ago. There was always a fence near GZ but you can safely access the area in question. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I will get it checked out on the weekend.

We had some time on our hands here and read the cache page. We tried the coordinates in one of the logs and found the box! A beautiful spot to spend time at and relax as we did. Thankyou.
Hi Astro,
what did your mate have to say?
If it helps, we know of someone who can move the cache to just outside the secure area for you.

Thanks for alerting me. I'll ask my mate who lives close to check out the scene. I don't want anyone doing anything illegal to get to the cache. It's a very old cache so it would be a pity to archive this in such a lovely area. I still think you can get to the cache from below so will still see if the route is available.
Clear skies! In the mean time have a nicpic at the facilities and enjoy!

We attempted the final location of this cache today, (S20° 34.811 E139° 34.374) and after many attempts from all directions we have opted to post an "Needs Archive" log because in our opinion there is no legal way this cache can be attempted.
Approaching from the lookout and over the dam wall - the far end of the dam wall is fenced off, and the hole mentioned in previous logs has been repaired. Signs on the fence indicate danger "no travelling".
From the picnic area below the lookout, any chance of walking to the cache is impossible as the area is well fenced up to the spillway.
There are newly formed tracks leading into the area of the cache, however there are posted signs indicating strictly no entry without prior written approval from thew water authority.
Approach from the north would be over the dam spillway and would, according to local authorities, be illegal and dangerous.

Cannot download the info sheets baha...........i checked out the gallery photos and I reckon I can find cache from previous hunts in this area
Attempted this for the 3rd or 4th time, and found the regular path completely blocked by council bunting and bits of wood etc. I attempted to find an alternative way to GZ, up a dodgy 4WD track, to approach GZ from behind. That was not a success either. It really is properly fenced off all the way round, and now even the approach (the wall) is blocked.

Great locations for the initial & final coords. and even the second was interesting. Not so keen about the nogo zone but we enjoyed a peaceful and relaxing afternoon with lunch at the park. TFTC.
Started figuring this one out yesterday but we required the car to make it to point two and GZ today. TFTC
Players, as previous logs have noted: There is another way to access without going thru the fence with No Entry signs. Please don't do naughty things.
Clear skies and have fun. Remember this is geocaching and that means it is not always just a walk in the park, though there is a beautiful park here you can walk in!

Had two goes at this, and still couldn't find it. There has been a lot of rain this year and the itchy plants are out in force. We didn't take the 4yo through the Do Not Enter fence - it's just not good training for impressionable kids to break and enter. There are very determined looking fences the other way round too now, not sure if that has always been the case. The hole in the fence is also mended with vigor and enthusiasm. There is a huge risk of snakes in this particular location at the moment, I would not consider it safe for kids at all. I might have missed something obvious, even after the breaking and entering, but it wasn't much fun and I came away itchy and a bit frustrated.
Maybe time to move it somewhere else?

Found it, but not at all happy with all the "Keep out" signs. Couldn't find another way in as posted by the previous cacher. climbed through a hole in the fence. If it hadn't been for all the information gathering before, I would have given up on it.
Cache should be moved to another spot (legally accessible).

Found it and enjoyed the tour. There is another way to access without going thru the fence with No Entry signs. Grabbed Rubber Ducky TB ,he's been here long enough. TFTC
This was a nice late afternoon find, our first for the area. I must say that given the do not enter signs and fences around it that it may be time to relocate this cache where you can just walk to it. As we are now in the area I would be happy to do this. Left Devil Duck and took croc! TFTC
