We didn't find it but was looking forward to visiting this spot again as it was 30 years since last there.
An amazing example of an age now gone.
I am giving it a favorite point even if it was not found nor signed.
The bees are still very active.

It's time to archive this one as it sounds like the bees have taken over the log in which the cache was hidden. Unfortunately, we're not in a position to travel and check at the moment.
Are you sure it's here searched everywhere. Bee hive makes it very dangerous. Disappointed
may want to check this one we spent half an hour looking everywhere doesnt look too difficult
Raining today so we had a look until we were soaked but were unable to find it. Might have better luck on our next trip home from camping at Robe!
Amazing feat of engineering and perseverance.

I couldn't find this geocache, maybe I'll have better luck next time!

How low can you go. Those old timers were crazy buggers. One of them, must have phoned the other, one morning and said, want to help me dig a little trench? Tftcsl. 10/26/13, 6:29 PM Find #518
TFTC Team Jeckyl very good,,, also found bee hive in the big peace of machinery, no one will ever be able to retrieve that honey until they have a good think about it
Been here a few times before, but never for a GC. Thanks for bringing me back to one of my favourite destinations in the SE. Still amazed at the task these 2 men took on. . Log was in tatters, so provided new logbook. Left old log for CO to recover. TFTC
Easy quick found. Thanks for the history lesson

A good example of the saying... "Where there's a will there's a way." An amazing achievement by only 2 men! Watch out for the hive of bees close to gz. Afterwards we drove up a bit more to the scenic lookout where more work was being done down below. Thanks for the cache and for bringing us to this interesting location.
What an amazing example of mans vision and drive to conquer the environment. Caching has again taken us to a place we would have been unlikely to find. TFTC
Found on our way back from Robe. GeoPartner found it easily while I looked at the cutting. Amazing is the only way I can describe it!
Suscoe and the sis and BIL were on a day out in the area.
Had heard about this amazing piece of work.
Saw the area that had been drained the saw the cutting.
Simply amazing!
Thanks o Team Jeckyl for showing us this engineering marvel.

Found on our journey home after a great caching trip to Mt Gambier.
This one had us stumped for a while as we started searching on the obvious structure. This was made particularly difficult as it is home to a bee hive with very active bees. Eventually we made the find but not before encountering some of the more agressive bees.
We had a good look around. Great place. Love these types of hides.
TFTC Team Jeckyl. Favourite awarded.

Down, down deeper down,
Get down, deeper down
I want all the world to see,
To see your digging for eternity [:o]
Or at least 3 years !!
Now that is dedication to a cause [^]
It must have drained the resources,
As well as the swamp [:o]
And us mere mortals now get to have a sticky beak at the end result here [^]

Found the cache quickly and easily. One of our team found it a bit hairy standing on the platform over the cutting. An amazing feat of engineering. On visiting this place about 23 years ago the equipment was all out in the open and things were a lot more accessible. I guess all the fencing is a sign of the times. Great place to visit, even if one isn't looking for a cache. Thanks Team Jeckyl.
At first we thought this was just more rusty machinery until we saw the drainage slot they created. It was amazing and by only two people over three years. TFTC.
What an amazing story. That is good old fashioned Aussie determination. Thanx for brining us here for our 100th find.
It is deep... I'm sure it was a lot of work but the land they reclaimed is worth millions. Some bee's have set up shop in the equipment near GZ so lookout for them.
Three years hard labour amazing the amount of soil and rock that was removed, quick find but avoid the nearby metal structure has a very active bee colony TFTC
A fortunate find as we had not planned this one but drove by for the site. What an amazing cutting. TNLN TFTC
My 184th cache.

# 1840. Robmc had found this one previously and brought me in here to show me this amazing drainage system. Was flabbergasted at the depth of the cutting. Definitely deserves a favourite point. Made a quick find here. Was glad it wasn't on the old piece of machinery as a swarm of bees seemed to be at home here. TFTC here.
Spent the weekend with a friend at Bordertown, and today was "road trip" day. We headed to Kingston then down the coast.
Saw this one come up on the map, and couldn't resist visiting this spectacle. Wow! And we have problems when our phone battery goes flat!
A muggle kid was sitting right next to this, so eliminated all the other possible hiding spots until she left, and sure enough there it was.
TFTC and thanks for bringing us here, Team Jeckyl )

Called in on way home from Robe, last time I was here the road in wasn't sealed. Took a photo of a family of emus in paddock along side highway. TFTC
wow! what an amazing spot.. did this one on a day trip to Robe. Driven past this place heaps of times, but would never have known this was here.. thanks for showing it to us and TFTC! Took owl, left Thomas name tag.
Haven't been here since I was a kid. Still a marvel of an Australians ingenuity. Tftc
Geo hubby spotted this one. Geokids were impressed by how big the cutting was. TFTC.
Driving from Robe to Warrnambool grabbing a few caches along the route.
This is an amazing place and well worth a visit - thanks for bringing us here.
Two men completed this fantastic piece of work.
The project began in May 1957 and took three years to complete. The length of the cutting is one kilometre and the depth at the deepest point is 28.34 metres. The width of the cutting at the top is 36.57 metres and three metres at the bottom.
Thanks Jacqueline and Peter #7194

Very glad to have made the side-trip to this location and the interesting view. Have to wonder why they didn't just dig a tunnel? Cache found easily.
Found to day with scojohara while doing a time control point for local state rally championship round. Great spot havnt been here since I was about 10. took tb cheers
Had to look around for this one as gps had trouble settling on a spot, but after a quick search the cache was in hand. Its a mavel what those men did.
Travelling from the UK we are driving New Zealand both North and South islands and the driving from Sydney to Adelaide my challenge is to find a geocache in every place we stay over........
Slight detour showed us this amazing cutting.

Almost gave up on this one today! Had to call in Hiluxury for a little bit of a clue!
This really was an amazing feat of perserverance as much as anything. Thanks Team Jeckyl, we had no idea this was here and it was definitely worth a look. Took soap, left moneybag charm.
Thanks, come here a look and found there was a cache,so on the hunt we went and found in no time at all,TFTC,TNLN
Would never have known this place was here if it wasn't for caching but unfortunately I think the cache must have been down the bottom of the ravine...
Maybe next time I am through the area
Thanks Team Jeckyl for the cache..

Found it on my holiday trip across Australia, go by motorbike. It's very cool here.

Crikey, that's dedication to a cause! I'm not sure I could put that much effort into digging a ditch. Very impressive. I made the search harder than it should have been by searching for something magnetic. TFTC and for drawing me there.
Definitely deep - makes me feel a bit queasy looking down - thank goodness for the fences!
Not sure what has happened to this cache - it is no longer a regular but quite small - listing should probably be updated to avoid any confusion.

Yes, this certainly is a marvel and an engineering feat! Thanks for bringing us here and for the hunt Team Jeckyl.
Came across this one and have been wanting to get this one tick off for some time.
Thanks.

what an amazing feat! left frog. took car.. which geo-baby then launched into the cutting with a resounding 'bbbbyyyyeeee!!!'... geo-dad was a meany and wouldn't retrieve it:) TFCF
2 blokes did that???
Bloody hell. They could certainly teach some people today about work ethic.

Boy thats a deep channel. Cache had me looking for a while as I was looking for something a bit bigger. Must have nearly stepped on it a couple of times before discovering it. Thanks for showing this area to me. TFTC
