A four day weekend gave us the opportunity to catch up with the rest of the Crew and head to South Australia to do the Border track and caches in the Big Dessert area, lots of laughs and good times were had over the weekend. There were plenty of good quality caches to be found along the way.
Today we did the border track led by our tour guide tackle_head.
This is one of the caches found today.
Thanks -Beaker- for the cache.

Well we finally made it to the Border Track and after much discussion and with some late minute planning we managed to assemble some sort of 4wd geocaching party and headed out this morning from an overnighter at Murrayville via Pinnaroo and headed Southwards. The crew consisted of tackle head, The Empire, omegaman1971, Snap Happy and Rebel Acts and we enjoyed plenty of laughs and banter as we made our way along the track and with the recent rains the track was firm along the most of the way with a few low clay areas being a little too wet but still passable with a little skill-full driving, some back seat navigation and throw in plenty of cursing and laughs and overall it was a great chance to come and explore this beaut part of the world. Made short work with this hide and the short walk was much appreciated by the back seat passengers as l thought l had done my diff with the continual whining coming from the rear of my mighty Triton even after l had stopped and turned the car off... many thanks Beaker's Bunch for the cache and for giving us a reason to venture out this way.

Our second day touring with 'The Crew', this time we were tackling the Border Track. Led by the enigmatic tackle_head in his trusty Landcruiser, we bumped and thrashed our way down the track, all the way to Red Bluff. Thanks for the cache Beaker's Bunch.

It was great to be out and about with the Crew once again for some caching fun and so many laughs.
This track has been on the to-do list for a long time and it certainly didn't disappoint.
Cheers for the awesome cache.

An extended weekend with the main destination of the 4WD border track between South Australia and Victoria. Friday consisted of an early start from Adelaide to Ngarkat Conservation Park, and along the way, a few small detours and the Geopets series just outside of Tailem Bend. On Saturday, we tackled our primary purpose of the weekend traveling along the one-way border track, and finally, on Sunday, we left the camp to complete some nearby geocaches and finish the This is SA geoart series near Bordertown, before traveling back home to catch a flight to Brisbane.
Today was the big day 4WD'ing from the start to finish along the border track. We started the day with a few geocaches around the camp, and a walk to the nearby EarthCache, before setting off on our journey. There were many adventures and laughs, and I think my jeep did well in at least attempting many of the dunes and hills. There was a field repair that was conducted, and a few vehicles needed some extra help getting through some soft sand patches. There was even some extra motivation been spoken through the radios by the Supa-team, haha. It was a fantastic group with a mix of Victorians and South Australians, and even a Queenslander who joined us for a section of the track!. The teams consisted of becNmonts, bucketeer, DAB, echocage1, Freddo, Geoturtle37, gridge98, papi 4506, Posums, Malco!, micaparamedic, mogni, Na’wal, sir_spectre, The_Tritonz, and the family team of Csaba!, SupaOrange, and SupaTurtle. There were also a few geocaching teams who joined us at the start and finish events, such as Brad&Janet, and Laighside Legends.
Managed a find way into this campground, and then a short walk up the hill through to GZ. Weird to have seen some hard rubbish about here also - to drive all this way to dump stuff here? Cache and contents in good shape, and even discovered a few TBs here, thanks Beaker's Bunch!

After touring the Big and Little desert’s during the week I was looking forward to this event as I had already done the top and bottom parts of the track so it was time to drive the fun stuff.
Quite a few of us arrived last night and camped out under the stars, it was nice putting faces to names of some teams that I finally got to meet.
I was enjoying the drive along the track and the friendly banter over the two way.
Time was going by as we have had to pull a couple of 4wd out of the sand.
We all formed a great circle in the camp ground and it looked a great picture.
We all headed off to find this one and by the time I got there it had been located so aneasy find for me.
Thanks The_Tritonz for organising this great event and for letting me tag along.
Thanks Beaker’s Bunch TFTC.

After spending last night at Pine Hut Soak, following light breakfast a large group of cachers assembled and deflated their tyres before heading to the start of the Border Track for a fun filled day.
The Border Track has been on my bucket list for some time and after missing the last Border Track event I made sure I was prepared for today's trip.
The lead 4WD just made it up the last dune with both diff locks engaged, and most of the rest of the group took the chicken track. After everyone regrouped we all headed off together to find and sign this one.
Thanks for placing & maintaining this cache Beaker

Today was the culmination of our planning, driving the border track !! After spending the previous night under the stars, it was time to hit the track and let the fun begin !!
I loved the walk to this one, spider webs and all !! A nice sized container greeted us at gz. TFTC -Beaker-

Today we drove and bounced, drove and bounced and then drove and got stuck. Supa fun was had. I talked on the radio and toasted marshmallows after dinner. I even saw a satellite on our night bushwalk. Turtle Out
It was time to hit the Big Desert. We had camped the night before and met up with many other caching teams early. We all set off for a day of adventure through the sand tracks.
We all squeezed in the car park in a nice circle and took off to make a find on this cache. It was found quickly by all.
**Thanks to Beaker's Bunch for hiding this cache for us to find and enjoy**

A huge weekend of geocaching with sir_spectre. We were targetted a couple of events on the Border Track and I had a ball. Still feeling shaken more than stirred but highly recommend coming out to do the track with a great group of people. Of course on the way there and the way back managed to grab a few others too.
This was a revisit to a cache I helped place many years ago. It is so good to see the original book in such good order.
Thanks to -Beaker- from mogni

We woke up very early to dive into the desert. We drove for many hours and found lots of caches with new faces from Victoria and South Australia. Tra La Laaa
The day started very early. Supa Orange, SupaTurtle and I met Malco! and Freddo at the Toll Gate Supa early. After a few hours of driving in the dark and a quickish detour I was at my first Caching Event. Day one consisted of soooooooooooo much 4WD fun. It was great to have so much support from the Victoria and South Australian Caches. The Supa's and I had such a great day on the sand and at camp. Thanks
The Border Event 2019 mob was here.
Paced out the (now becoming standard) 200 metres from where we parked the vehicles to GZ. Overthought the location, and the cache was eventually found in an very observable spot that I hadn't thought of looking at. After we all signed, it was back the 200m to the 4WDs and continue South along the one-way section of the Border Track to Red Bluff Campground.
Thanks for the cache, Beaker's Bunch

found with the attendees of the Welcome to the Border 2019 event. We have started down the border track and much fun was had by all. Some of us got to use our recovery gear getting ourselves out, others got pulled out.
I set off following Malco to this one, after some discussion was had about where to approach from. The cache was rather exposed, which made it quite amusing that it took a while to find! Thanks so much for placing this cache Beaker's Bunch
Nice view over the area from gz.
A massive multi day trip to the border of south Australia and Victoria. The trip consisted of 3 days. 1st day was from Adelaide to the border. Day 2 a drive along the border track and day 3 red bluff to Adelaide via border town.
Day 1: a trip with David Wazza to complete the geo pets series as well as some other caches around Tailem Bend before meeting up with brad & Janet at Tailem Bend and heading to Ngarkat national park for some 4wd and the caches around the area. After finding the first cache an individual decided that we would go down a track that was the quick way, actually a detour if about an hour or so extra. Sometimes it’s best not to follow the GPS.
Then collected some unloved then off to the campsite to meet (the tritonz, micaparmedic, becNmonts, posums, freddo, malco, super orange, super turtle, csaba, mogni, sir_spectre, bucketeer, papi 4506, Na’wal, DAB, echocage1 and laighside legends.
Day 2 was from the event .... to red bluff along the border track collect the caches along the way. At the start of the track one caching team had to pull out due to there car not being up for the track, funny to hear the kids on the UHF at the time turn the situation into a funny one. Mica Paramedics car had some issues with not starting as well as the Jeep hitting the reel tracks showing up the Pajeros, prados and land cruisers. Should of bought a Jeep.
Day 3 David Wazza and I left the red bluff camp spot for the this is SA series, a really fast drive whilst we replaced them all for the CO as requested, although most were in tact. We later went to cache near by and got caught by a farmer for quite some time. Still managed to find the cache though.
Thanks to the Tritonz for a great weekend of organisation and the cache owners for their placements.

A weekend trip out to Pinnaroo to tackle the boarder track and surrounding caches had been in the works for a while and this weekend we were finally able to make it happen. It was a pleasant morning as we made our way south from Pinnaroo, the tracks were dry and reasonably clear (though there was a fair bit of chatter over the UHF’s from other track users) as we slowly worked our way through the target cashes. It was a good day for me, picking up a few new D/T combinations that I had not yet found and as the sun was setting as we found the last of our caches, we decided to call it a day.

Found in the company of e.gregory1, brisal5, AnyMules, Laighside Legends and Munja during a caching trip along the Border Track, and into Ngarkat Conservation Park and Big Desert. Thanks for the cache Beaker's Bunch!
A weekend in the desert doesn't sound all that great does it? But you add some great companions, Anymules, e.grogory, featherwaite, Laighside Legends, Munja and for a while Brad from B&J. [^]Then you mix in, walking, 4WD ing, walking, caching, walking, camping, walking, camp fires, walking, camp yarns, walking, Ngarkat Conservation Park, walking, the Border Track, walking, The Big Desert and walking. What a great weekend. Did I mention the walking [?]
Yet another small walk our onto the dunes to find this one. Surprisingly most GPS had us on one side of the dunes and LL found it on the other. I of course found it in LL hands. [:o)] Great to stretch the legs and take in the views.

Been looking at this track for some time The only problem was that the 4X4 component of my ute was playing up and I Just didn't trust it on such a testing trip . Being a typical mechanic I had other stuff to do so It took me nearly 12 months to find enough time to fix the ute and gain confidence in its capabilities . I rang a good freind Geojill-11 and also ran it past my son Mark9375 and plans started to come together for the Easter school holidays. Fast forward to now and we headed of to renmark via the painted Silo trail as we wanted to do the track from as far north as we could and pick up other caches along the way Once on the trail the weather gods decided to throw in a curve ball with a series of 37 degree days and it was dam and incredibly uncomfortably hot in the desert with hardly any shade anywhere but as avid Geocachers we had a goal and pushed on. It was hot very sandy very dusty and hot hot hot. Did I mention hot in Autum of all things lol but we had a fantastic time and the ute performed above and beyound my expectations. Pushing on through the heat and the sand. In two days from renmark to Bordertown we did not see another single person on the track so we had no backup and the track was very well chewed up from the Easter long weekend thankyou very much for placing this cache and bringing us to this Fabulous yet extremely hot place TFTC
Moving along from our trip with 4bait and Geojill_11,Ouyen, Renmark, and now Pine Hut Soak/Pinnaroo (Bordertown Next!)
After peaceful sleep under the stars at Pine Hut Soak,we decided to get our backsides moving along the border track and get going. This was one of the many caches along the track that we gained. Some tough 4wd sections really pushed the car to the limits! And it sailed through smoothly

Found along with the hordes of others on the Welcome to the Border Event weekend. Great to collect a few smileys on this track today as we convoyed along taking in the sights along the way. My thanks to everyone that was there, this was fun doing all these caches as a massive group. Thanks to Beaker's Bunch for the placement of this cache out here. adding a fave for the remoteness of the placement.
Onwards to the next cache, there wasn't much option. Found while out caching for the day as part of The Border Track Team 4WD convoy.

29/4/2017 - A cool spot for a cache whilst on the Border Track following this morning's event - we are in the log as the Border Track Group
One of my most favourite days of caching - 4WDing on the border track with the awesome Snap Happy and other cachers.
----------------------
I've had a big, but generally a relaxing couple of weeks away in Victoria from SA.
Ballarat, Border track, Pinnaroo, Bendigo, Wedderburn, Swan Hill, Maryborough, Mt Beckworth and Mt Gambier are just a few of the spots I have visited during my caching trip. There was an emergency room visit, loads of driving, stacks of laughter, amazing food, lots of new learnings (oh my goodness!!), and a wonderful mix of fabulous people.
I am loving this country and getting out and about in it!
Thanks for the cache -Beaker-!

You guys spent a few nights camped here? Awesome! Big sky country - so much peace and solitude. Great place for a cache, thanks for placing.
A weekend of attending an event and 4WDing in a beautiful bush area: Hell yeah! Bring it on! [^]
Harry and I both attended GC70KAF Welcome to the Border and were amongst some amazingly awesome company for the whole weekend [^]
You could tell the city slickers though..... those who took off home real quick when sleeping at Red Cliffs campsite became a reality
They'll never know what they missed!
Fantastic countryside, magic sand hills and tracks and fantastic weather were the icing on the cache .... ummmm, cake!
12 caches found and the 1 event attended and a massive quality weekend to ensure that the memories last for a long time! [^]
I like finding older caches, especially ones out in the bush and this one fits the bill on both counts [^]
Thankfully I'll be camping out here tonight and yep, it doesn't get better than this! [^]

A welcome break here where we enjoyed the short walk to GZ. It's a pity not more people get to enjoy these rather isolated areas (but then it wouldn't be so isolated ) - this is clearly a seldom visited GZ. Unloved for almost 2 years - well, today the cache had heaps of company !
Thanks, Beaker's Bunch.

After attending the near by event , we set off in convoy with 13 other 4WD's for an awesome adventure down the Border Track picking up all the caches as we went, signing them as The Border Track Crew. A great spot to stop , we not only took the walk along to the cache but watched muggle 4WD's coming up the hill.

I had it all planned out. I would leave Melbourne early to head up to Pinnaroo in SA by myself and collect as many of the caches i could along the Calder. But the weather was against me today. The start of a 5 day Desert 4wd trip with my mates and it rained all the way until we arrived back home yesterday.
I cant believe i missed the cache at the Trig point before this one. I stopped there and had a look around but forgot to turn on my gps. By the time i did notice it, too late to go back on this one way track.
This one was fun to find. Heading up to where i parked was two tracks in the sand. The left one a member of our convoy got stuck half way up. As they hadn't let down there tires before driving on the sand. So i took the right and parked half way up.
A long bush bash across to the cache though i found it in good condition. The hike back to the car was made easier as i found a track across the ridge line.
Cheers for taking me up onto the great look out.

In need of a break, I've only been on the track for a short time and it is in the worst condition I have seen. Parked off the track and walked the 250 metres to GZ. Signed the log and headed back to continue bouncing my way further South. Thanks for the cache.
Found while having a "rest" from travelling the one-way section of the B Track. Liked the in kind colour of the ammo container. Mmmm, the black goo is still stuck on some of the other objects in the container and could do with a clean up. TFTC
Parking to walk the few hundred metres to get this one allowed us to get out of the stream of vehicles we found ourselves wrapped up in as it seemed the whole Victorian 4WD community descended on the place.
The cache was found to be in reasonable good condition, but as a testament to how hot it gets out here, the black rubber band of a set of swimming goggles [?] had turned to a sticky, gooey black mass – so we removed it. Otherwise no swaps. . This was to have been our 4000th cache, but a DNF earlier yesterday put us one out and this one at #3999 [B)].
Cheers Beaker

A great little place to stop and have some lunch (after finding the cache). Found while birthday-bashing with some moderately-old (and really old) farts! . TFTC.
Found with a group of geo-4WDriver/cachers on our way to Moderately Old Farts Birthday Bash in Ngarkat Conservation Park. It was fun driving along the track and look for caches to boot. TFTC.

When you get up over the hill you need to turn right at the camping sign. Ok no worries. Well that is if there wasn't 2 camping signs, one of which took you back down to the bottom of the hill via the chicken track!
Never mind we got there in the end, and it provided a great place for us to have a bite to eat.

Group of the Moderately Old Farts Birthday events. Beauty view from top. Signed the log. Thanks Beakers Bunch.
#1292 On our Border Track trip with our travelling companions DazzPete. Got to the parking/camping area and there were a number of tents set up there was no one around so off we toddled to GZ. I believe this was spotted by GeoP and extracted by GeoD. TNLNSL TFTC Beakers Bunch - top area for a cache [^]
We went sailing past this one last time we did "the track" and by the time we realised we were way too far doen the track to m ake an attempt. This time we had skullracing along for company and to make sure we didn't miss the turn.
We pulled in to the campsite and made the journey up the hill for geoP to spot the prize.

We had a fantastic time on the Border Track this day. The only ones we could see. The track was quite challanging at the moment.
Can finally tick this one of my list.

Have finally gotten around to doing the Border Track, killed a rim, blew a valve in the spare, and killed 3 antennas in the process, but it's now marked off my list and I enjoyed nearly every minute I spent in the area - TFTC
Whilst the cheif cook and bottle washer made lunch it was off into the scrub for the cache. Quick find in the end. Pretty quiet on the Border Track so far today. TNLNSL
Forecast for thunderstorms this weekend, thankfully so far so good.
Nice place to stop, very pretty view. Enjoyed the walk through the scrub.

Yes - as Freddo said, the party of 3 vehicles was camped here so we camped near Foot in Both Camps (camp there at the base of the hill). Off we went to the cache which I remembered to be in the opposite direction!! Just as well we went where the arrow said as the campers were concerned that we would run into Pop who was apparently digging a hole somewhere over there.......
Clear skies, Astro.
Another visit for this season of the BT. The sand into GZ was not too bad. We were aiming to camp here last night but we decided Pine looked sweet. Probably a good thing since a party had already camped here. They were just packing up as we arrived at 8.30am. We told them we were off to find treasure but they were more interested in breakfast. Great views. Thanks for a fun cache.
Should have done this one before breakfast. ( Bacon and Eggs tomato and Mushroom.) Was a great way to start Fathers Day.Then off to play in the sand hills and mud. T.F.T.C.
Arrived at 1.30 and camped here for the night. 4 vehicles here for Fathers day. Had fun on the whole track, lots of dunes and mud holes to play in.
Cheers from Barra & Son.
