Information gathered quite a few months back to start the journey to sign my name in this monumental cache as dalerious and I were here on another mission, on the way back home, ready to start unloading trucks that afternoon. This is the reason why I have left it till today to find it .It had not been a good end to the week. On Friday we said goodbye to our dearest and most illustrious pet. Pet is such a fickle term, as he was much more than that.Earlier in the week I had a plan to go to St Arnaud to finish off the "Star" series. We found ourselves too sad to stay home for the weekend, so we packed the car, and off we went.dalerious reminded me that we still haven't visited gz for this Derringer, and as the weather was mild we decided to undertake the journey before St Arnaud . The view was spectacular whichever way you decided to look. The walk was joyful with so many things to explore.I have been lucky to do a few Derringer caches, and I was looking up your profile to see what else you had. That is when I came across GCHN1A Catherine's Cradle. I also came across another 2 in the high country that I would love to give a go. Have to do some serious research before heading off to those one's though .dalerious and I enjoyed the walk, the scenery and the cache, and I would not have wanted to be in this beautiful place with anyone but him.Thank you Derringer. Cache found in good condition. Favourite given.
this was a lot of funour first visit to these fabled caves, we werent sure what to expectbut of course:its right up our alleywe love big granite boulders:mushroom rocksstawells sistersthe old galleries up buffalothis place fits snugly among themand this treasure serves as a stellar way to explore the region:see the sights afar from the lookoutand then see the sights close-up from in amongst the granitea winding trail through the rocky warren whats not to love?thanks for the fine treasureyou have picked a mighty spotwe had a blast
What on earth posessed me to go after a Derringer at night and when tired. I have no idea but the adventure was worth it, i loved it and am assigning a fav
Out walking with friends, and what a beautiful walk, stunning flowers, scenery. Thank you so much for placing this cache!

Many thanks Derringer for providing and maintaining this game piece for our enjoyment.
This one was a challenge. Following the GZ not all the way! A circumference around the GZ still didn’t come up with the goods. However our Geosense kicked in and soon enough the cache was in hand.

This was a great way to break up a long trip to SA.
Had done a few tracks here, but not this one.
Sure enough at GZ there was an eagle overhead.
Thanks

Out caching today with Stemicmitsar out North today to go out and do se caching around Melville Caves. With some multi progress and oldest 500 caches on the radar for the day.
Early start for a big day of driving and all in all no real issues or DNF's for the entire day. Thanks for the caches and the good day out.

*Cache find # 11736.*
Today I headed North with buhfuhguh to continue a mission we had started a little while ago which is now getting closer to the end.
Our mission had brought us to this area so while we were here we had to find a few caches.
We should have started with this one as it would of saved us a bit of time as we covered part of the same ground twice.
This one certainly takes you to a few scenic spots and is worth a favourite for that alone.
After visiting the posted coordinates, we took in the view, worked on the numbers, completed our mission and checked out the caves before then head too the final location.
We were now closing in on the cache container but before we did, I took a look at the hint and had a laugh as I know exactly what it meant, we then took that advise and made our way around to GZ were it wasn’t long before we had our names in the logbook.
**Thanks to Derringer for placing this cache.**

Found what I think was GZ (based on other logs). Searched for about 30 minutes with #1, but no joy this time.
Loved camping in this area so will be back again one day.

Amazing location! We were lucky enough to see the sunset from one of the nearby lookouts. Will definitely be back for more walking. TFTC!
Found it, after looking for 1:30hrs it was where I looked 5mins into my search, can't believe I missed it! My little trooper of 4yo wouldn't give up until we found it, even with a few scratches and scrapes to her knees.
What an AWESOME location, AWESOME walk, and just outright AWESOME!!! this is one of our top 3 favourites done so far!!!! TFTC!!!! In great condition and we will be coming back in the future for sure!!!
On a road less travelled and I was going to be an hour, maybe an hour and a half early for the pre Mega CITO event. [^]
Then I saw the rocky outcrop up on the hill and thought to myself that there really should be a cache up there. [8)]
I pulled over and looked at my app. There is and it's a 2004 Derringer Multi. OMG. [:o]
At the posted coords I made time to make sure my finals math was right.
I made time to visit the caves I never knew existed.
I made time to find the absolute quickest route to GZ.
I made time to find this sneaky hide (with a slight altitudanal adjustment nudge).
I even made time to take some pics and vid of my adventures.
Next time I will make the time to take my time to take in every moment of time in this timeless terrain.
There will definately be a next time.
TFTC Derringer. I was only 30 minutes late for the start of that CITO and I blamed you.
Everyone understood. [^]

Got a bit of advice from our new geo-friends chooknchunk which saved us a lot of time by not taking the wrong tracks. Remember- the shortest route isn’t always the easiest route.

Such a nice walk out here. Took the full track with geowhippet on way back from Melville caves. Fortunately a previous finder sent me the hint I needed otherwise I would not have found! Tftc
Last time I was at Melville Caves I had calculated the coordinates - but it was on my old phone, so I had to recalculate them, which gave a good excuse for the walk up to the caves before the longer hike.
I followed the Long Rock Circuit clockwise. The path is mostly straightforward until just before the cache, then it goes a bit wild and unmaintained. Getting to the cache itself was also a little painful the way I did it. I then overcomplicated the search a little before re-assessing and finding and logging it.
Thanks for the cache - it was a great circuit.

Awesome. We had to take shelter under a massive rock and wait for a storm to pass. We had to work for this one. Thank you for the cache!
In the area today checking out the caves and saw someone taking the numbers for the multi at WP1. Lucky for me it was another cacher Paul the Ball and he was happy to share the final calcs. Bit of a slog in the sun getting here and quiet a bit of a search, chooknchunks photo really through me off as GZ looks nothing like that! Almost gave up but a more thorough search produced the goods. Cheers and thanks Derringer for this oldie.
Tough climb to the GZ. I’m covered in cuts and scratches and torn my shirt! Finally located the cache to discover our pen is lost somewhere in the bush! Walk back to the car was just as bad! Left a small trinket for next finder!
Unfortunately it was time to leave Wedderburn and head back home but not before picking up some more quality caches in the company of TR! in and around Kooyoora State Park. We made the the slow trek up here to the lookout where we found the info while enjoying the views and exploring the caves. We weren't exactly sure if we had the correct GZ but after negotiating a path through and up the fitter of the team made the find.
Thanks Derringer for placing the cache here, the views are just spectacular.

After grabbing coffee in town this morning, it was time to hit the trail and grab some caches on the way home.
This was the first of the day, following TheTritonz today, we decided a nearby series was where we were headed before making the trip home.
Thanks for bringing us to this location.

We had never been to the Melville Caves area before. After spending yesterday visiting the Spirit Of Anzac exhibition and caching around Bendigo, we had dinner with our dear friends Romax, who mentioned there was a Derringer cache out at Melville Caves, and would we like to go out there. Instantly any ideas of finding numerous caches around Bendigo were put on hold for another day, and the grateful affirmative response was accompanied by tingles of excitement.
The views at WP1 were spectacular and we will definitely be coming back another day to explore further. However our mission today was to complete this cache. It was late morning by the time we arrived at the start of the walking track and the weather was heating up, so we took our time walking in. Which was a good thing because not only did we look after our not-so-fit selves, but we were able to really appreciate all the views, the rock formations and the flora on the way in.
At GZ, we soon found the original cache, however it was quite broken and, according to Romax (who was FTF back in 2004), it was not in it's original location. So after a bit of rock scrambling and some guidance from the master, the contents were placed in a new container, the log signed, and the cache placed in its original location.
The walk out took a little longer due to the heat of the day and therefore was quite challenging, but we made it back to the car all feeling totally exhiliarated on the thrill of what we had just achieved and experienced. Thank you Derringer for a truly rewarding journey today. Your caches are truly iconic for their great locations. A definite favourite from us.

Visited again by Roma and Max.
We were out caching in the area with our friends chooknchunk and took the opportunity to again revisit a cache found in our early days of geocaching and one of our favourites from that time.
This time we were on a maintenance visit as we had a new 1L clip top container with log book, stash note, pen, and some goodies for exchanging similar to the one we were FTF all those years ago, and of course we knew where the original niche was at GZ!
We retrieved the damaged container from a possie that included considerable cache creep, some 20m plus and re-positioned the new container as originally found.
Maintenance now carried out and all is ok ready to pose the same challenge for future searchers that we experienced originally.
Thank you again Derringer for placing this cache that has provided so much pleasure for geo folk for more than a decade now
Cheers,
from Romax.

The container was in very condition and therefore no longer weather proof and needs to be replaced along with the log book/s.
What an expedition. I was out on a day out with students from Wedderburn Collage when I found myself on the correct path to find the final location for this site, as I had already worked out from an other visit . I took the opportunity to find it. Well what a rock scramble, only find it after I had given up and started to head for home and saw it at the last minute. TFTC
Arrrrgh !! Arrrgh !! Arrrgh !!
I took the opportunity yesterday lunchtime to take a stroll up the hill from the picinic area below the lookout
And found out where this cache lay in the landscape
Or so I thought ??
This morning, the 'red X' on me geocaching map needed to be visited
And after an enjoyable stroll along a very nice trail, I reached GZ within half an hour of walking.
Oh where, oh where can this little cache be ?? [:o]
I searched here, searched there.
And after 15 minutes decided that a bit of a scramble might be in order.
I had forgotten to bring the phone with me, so had no cache notes to read for clues
After a scramble, and a climb into a bit of a cave, which was great fun, by the way [^]
I still couldn't find a cache
I was about to give up !!
But I couldn't ... the location must be right, 'cos it was so perfect
I was about to leave, after half an hour of intensive searching in the rapidly warming midday sun, when I looked out over the cliff for one more time.
Hey !! There is a cache container down there !! [:o]
I quickly scrambled back down and grabbed the pieces that lay scattered around.
I wish while I had been searching the cave a half hour ago that I had just "turned around"
The cache remains would have been in plain sight
Anyhoo !!, I gathered the bits back together and reassembled a cache (of sorts)
Well the logbooks are water damaged, but perfectly dry.
The container has a bottom with a hole in it, and a lid
So I placed it all back where I thought it might have come from ...
... which now I have read the cache notes is probably not the original location
Hey !! It is probably a bit easier to find now, and still exactly at the calculated coords
Could the next finder please bring a new box with them and hide it about fifteen feet lower in altitude, where I think it was originally hidden
TFTC, and a great stroll Derringer [^]

Found it with the kids in toe, although this one was a bit tough and dangerous for little ones. Great location though
Found with GCS14, a much more epic than it needed to be, as we went straight up the side! Fantastic view, fantastic location, thanks!
Found with Trumanasaurus7. Yeah, so didn't look at the hint before going for a challenging vertical scramble, the last part of which was very challenging indeed. However stunning views to be had at the top. Thanks for the cache!
Found on a family caching trip with the family to Melville Caves. We had a great time caching in the area over 2 days. We really enjoyed the trek out to the GZ and admired the views on a great walking track. I wish more caches were made like this. It really shows how geocaching has changed over the years. Our thanks to Derringer and a fav point from me.
While camping here it was nice to go and get some caches. Caching with Fergzter on his Birthday. After working out the gz we set of on a nice walk to it. With great scenery and and great walk we made it to the GZ. After having a bit of a look around we thought of where it could be and after a bit of a scramble the cache was in hand. TFTC.
Sorry Derringer for the generic log but I'm trying to catch up on my logging, I currently have over 1000 to log before hitting some powertrails in the US after the block party next week. As always I enjoy the hunt whether I'm solo or with some of my caching or muggle friends. Thanks to those who have accompanied me to make the day more pleasurable and many thanks Derringer for placing this cache.
This was our first multi cache and with the help of Port63 we managed to complete both parts of the cache.
Found with Port63 while camping nearby for the weekend.
As we are new to Geocaching, we are really enjoying the thrill of finding such hides as yours. Thanks alot for the enjoyment and taking us to such beautiful places with really nice views.
Although it was hot today and we have walked quite a distance, the walk was certainly worthwhile.
We solved the first part of the cache and got the co-ordinates for the second part. The walk through the thick scrub was at times, quite a challenge.
Port63 completed the last quarter of the hunt as I stayed at the bottom of the rocks. With a heal spur of 11 months, I figured it was best I stay down below. Port63 added our entry in your notepad.
Thanks for the cache

Found this one with the Bloody Tourists as we got close to this one had to leave one half at the bottom at the base of the hill with a sore foot as we came up from the road side lucky for me as there was a track that went up the rocks and almost straight to the cache took a Aus key ring and left a magnet the views from here were great just like the hole place TFTC Cheers port63
Find #105. Found with FUF009 at 3.35pm
After working out the co-ordinates to this on a previous visit to "The Caves" today was the day we hunted for the cache.
Lots of great views around in doing this cache, which meant many stops to enjoy them. Hate to think what would happen if one of those balanced rocks toppled over.
Don't know if we went the right way to this location or not, but we were up here and it was down there. Luckily for younger legs (FUF009) who scrambled down the rocks to locate it and bought it up to us to sign log etc, then took it back down to replace in its hinding spot.
Took Teddy Bear Hanie. Left Clip on Koala. TFTC

After working out the co-ords to GZ on a previous visit to "the caves" today was the day we hunted for the cache.
Me not being the fittest person around found some of the walk chllenging but with some water and a few (lots of) rest stops I managed to get there. the walk alone was rewarding enough with places along the walking track having great views over the area and a few great rock formations around.
At GZ it took us some time to locate the cache. but we weren't leaving without it!
Thanks Derringer for the exercise [|)] and a great Cache hunt

Solved puzzle and attempted to find, however dwindling light and approaching the GC from the wrong direction prevented us from finding this time. Will have to grab next time we're out that way.
I was lucky to pick this multi as my first target when I arrived at Melville Caves, that way I saved myself any backtracking later on. I'd recommend grabbing the numbers for this cache before doing the old blokes series.
Great views along the walk to this cache, the track winds around and under some huge boulders, and you can see some that are teetering on the edges of the mountain. GZ also had some nice views, the hiding spot was a bit hard to figure out - but I had a look in every location, and it was standing out like a sore thumb.

I originally collected the final coordinates for this two years ago but had to wait for another orienteering event in the vicinity to go in search of the cache (by this time I needed to get the coordinates again...). Convinced Geofus and Blairasaurus to come for a walk with me - I don't envy anyone who doesn't take the track leading SE from the campground - and it was a perfect spring afternoon with the wattle blooming and wedgetailed eagles soaring, topped off by finding the cache neatly stowed exactly where I expected it to be. Thanks Derringer!
WE did the sums but have run out of time during this short but greatly enjoyable stay in the Park.It looks like a bit of a walk (if we have the coords correct!) so will try to return to complete it.

Certainly not a drive-by, but after all what derringer cache is? We had collected the information for this cach some time ago (see cache note 16/4/2010). Having considered approaching this cache from the south, we are glad, for a number of reasons, that we opted to come in the way we did.
We are not sure if all the spiders are some sort of canary indicator of sorts but if they are there's lots of it going on here!
On arrival at GZ, H-P was quick to latch onto the final twist for this cache and left P-P standing scratching his bald head.
TNLN . . SL . . Thanks for the hunt derringer.

This was nearly the first cache I visited for the initial information, and turned out to be the last one I completed in this area. But what a great walk it was.
As everyone else had done this cache before, Chad offered to join me on the walk from the campground to GZ.
We passed great lookouts. fantasticly complex active webs, and a area of butterflies on our walk along the trail.
A bit of a twist at GZ to round it off.
Thanks, Robmc.

4stubbies found the first half but ran out of time to finish, so will mark this one for our return.
I visited the given coordinates and have the final location sorted. However there was a major storm brewing to the west, plenty of lightening and thunder, and by the time I got off this hill top big fat rain drops were starting to fall from a very black sky.
I had one other cache in the area which I wanted to collect, I managed it without getting too wet.
Finding this little beauty will have to wait to another day, I've checked out the final resting place on google earth. Can't wait, but it's a long way from home.
Thanks for bringing me here Derringer.

Stinga4 and i had grabbed the required info while picking up the nearby cache earlier in the day. After working out GZ Stinga4 who has hiked in the area plenty of times in the past said we could approach from the south after grabbing other caches in the park. While heading to GZ I just knew Derringer would have something up his sleeve. Again I wasn't dissapointed. Great hide. Topped off a great days caching(if a very soggy one) TNLN thanks Derringer for another top cache.
Jimmymaff and I were on our way to find this one before we left the park. I have lead a few school groups along this track so I knew where I was heading. We saw an owl in broard daylight We got to the GZ and we looking for a while and then jimmymaff clued in to the hint. Quite an adventure in the pooring rain!! But hey it was a well deserved cache at the end of the day. TFTC!
Got the coordinates and enjoyed an awesome view from the top! Decided in the end that it was too far to walk to GZ and Back Rd was closed, so we'll grab this one next time. Cheers!
could have been no11 of 10 on the 10 of the 10 10. but it was getting late on an already great day out, and the back road was closed from this side, so we'll be back to finsh up next time.
Gathered the clues on Friday afternoon on our stroll up to the Melville caves after setting up camp. Then found it on the Sunday morning at 11:15 with Been_there. Great location and nice walk in. TFTC TNLNSL.

As it was late afternoon and the sun was starting to get low on the horizon, so we thought we would collect the information needed to complete this cache and then search for the goodies on our next visit.

Finally completed this one. Tackled WP2 by climbing up from below, was an interesting adventure, kept company by faithful dog whilst the rest of the gang waited below. Was an easy find once I got there, well worth the view too. TFTC.
Oh Dear - I think I walked wrong the track (half way to the GZ) so give up return back to the car. Hope come back another time as I didnt know this area well... Need map for track... Maybe you could email me which best access for me to find the cache. Thanks.
Found at 1210. We stopped by to grab the info at WP1 in between caches, and once we saw how far away it was, we did a quick recheck to make sure that we were right, and just as I was casually looking around for a track to take us down, Rubik discovered that we could probably drive somewhat closer...so we did.
Some fabulous names of hills at WP1 and views.
Thanks again Derringer.

I was somewhat worried about what this cache might have on offer. The logs made for interesting reading but didn't really give much away. After collecting the clues and admiring the great views I punched the numbers in and thought "We can't possibly be expected to walk all that way!" I checked the maps and there was a road that got close, so we took it and the final climb was much easier that I was expecting. More great views on offer here too.
Thanks again for the cache today,

My second enjoyable walk for the day. Did the maths easily enough at WP1 but wasn't quite sure as to where to approach GZ from, as each time I set out from my chosen starting point, my GPS kept telling me I was wrong. As the alternatives were somewhat limited and the track it tried to put me on didn't seem to exist any more, I perservered with my original choice and subsequently arrived at the correct location. Perhaps my approach could have been shorter from a different spot but it was a pleasant walk anyway and I needed the exercise. A great stroll with so much to see. Plenty of wildlife. As I sat at GZ, filling in the log, two wedgies glided past, seemingly just out of reach and keeping an eye on what I was doing. Thanks, Derringer, for another top cache.
Found this one with my son jack at 3.00pm just as we hit GZ the rain started. We had the cache in hand with in 10 min. The walk in was breath takeing in more than 1 way. Made a swap and signed the log thanks for getting us out off the house cheers n.s.e.w.where?
Well done TrippleR for a great cache! Hard work but worth it for the views and satisfaction of another one under the belt. Took phillips screwdriver and left pencil sharpener.
Many thanks.

Found WP1 in the rain. By the time we had packed up camp the rain had stopped. Took a group of Geokids on a walk to GZ. An interesting walk with some great views. At GZ we looked everywhere with no luck so we tried a different elevation and found the cache. TFTC.
Well this turned out to be much more of a challenge than anticipated due to wrong approach direction. After completing an orienteering event here today we thought this would be a quick find and we would be out on our way. The first location rewarded us with fantastic views and an easy spot to find. After decoding the co-ordinates to GZ we thought we would try to get close by travelling down some dirt road call Barry's Reef road from memory. We got to within 560 m and went bush, we forgot the chainsaw as it was tough going. After plenty of blood sweat and tears from the kids we bagged the cache after a bit of a search up and down the general area of GZ. What a geat place for the cache, the views were worth the effort by far. I suggest a more on foot approach would make life easier than bush bashing and if you have a cut lunch take it as you won't get too many places better for a picnic. TNLN SL Many thanks for getting us out there for the views
Found with Karen and Corinna on our Brigewater and beyond caching day. Our last one for the day left the best for last it seems the lookout and caves at wp1 were very interesting and we took a few photos of the views. Of f to gz where this cache gets its 3 terrain rating but plenty of fun was had with the girls both falling most of the way back down to busy giggling and not looking where their walking. The find was made fairly quickly with the sun setting a quick log signing and departure thanks Derringer
This cache is indeed there and was a great introductory walk in this fine area. The first waypoint provided a birdseye view of the area and the drive to gz placed me at a comfortable walking distance from your cache. I guessed right and soon had the well hidden container in my hot little hands. Thanks Derringer.
we took a look at this one on fathers day. a glorious day, but no so glorious when we could not find the cache. The end of this one need some maintenance. Shall take another look , but not so certain it was still there.
I hadn't been here for along time and only to visit the initial 1st WP, it was nice to return and explore additional new country, thanks Derrringer TNLN

Worked out the clue easily enough and then the easier way to gz. Once there, and obviously like others, I was searching in a particualr area when I realised that Triple R probably meant three dimensions! The cache was then an easy find. Thanks Derringer for the walk in a lovely area.
Found @ 10:45am.
Found whilst on an Easter trip to the Big Desert with ggkof and friends. This is my first Derringer cache. I grabbed the TB Crater Lake Eagle to go for a ride with me.

Found @ 10:45 while on the way to Sunset country for Easter with Davroy and friends. Was a little worried about finding this one in the short time frame we had after looking at the previous logs. We decided to see if we could drive as close as we could to the calculated GZ to save time. Don't think it did, but it made it an interesting climb to GZ. Once there we had the cache in a couple of minutes. Some good view on a lovely clear morning. Thanks. TNLNSL
First of fifteen caches for the day the cache was found at 11:00, I left home at 06:00 and met up with pprass and rabbitto and then we headed on our way picking Dak and Muzza up along route. We arrived at the start and soon had the numbers required to get us to GZ after taking in the views we made our way to the cache location where we all went to the wrong altitude and began our search after some time we determined it must be at the other altitude and Rabbitto soon had the cache in hand. The views from both locations were excellent. Thanks Derringer for the cache.
Dear Derringer,
It is with much joy and heralding of trumpets that I announce that I have finally broken my "Derringer Duck" by the finding of your cache. To mark this occasion, Pprass, Muzza, Acts2 and Dak presided as witnesses. It's not that I have been deliberately avoiding them (although your reputation does preceed you) it's just that on every occasion of being near one, it was either getting too late to attempt or we have had time constraints on travelling to somewhere beyond. Now the door has been opened, it's time to knuckle down and work through the list.
I found your cache at 11:00am as the first of fifteen on our Calder Collective Caching Collection. We locked in the most distant caches on our list as the starting point and worked our way home as the day progressed. After leaving home before 7:00am, we met up on route and continued our drive to WP1, where we collected the info for the cache. We trekked to GZ where we searched high and low, before locating the hide in a spot we had all previously bypassed. A great heart starter for the day. Thanks for the cache. Left TB's Baa Baa Sheep, Bubbles Ducky and the somewhat appropriate 100th TB in our possession - Red Herring.
Kind Regards,
D B-A

This was the first cache of a five-man caching expedition to the area - DAK, Pprass, Rabbitto, Acts2YouthGroup and myself. After calculating GZ, we headed there for a good warm up walk to the cache. Nothing too serious for the group.
After some searching around, Rabbitto managed to find the cache. Thanks for an enjoyable and easy (by Derringer standards) venture into the bush.

Found at 11.00am GAFF5. The word had got around that a couple of us wanted to go up to the north west area of Bendigo to capture some caches that were accumulating. Within a few days we had a group of 5 intrepid > 1 kilo cachers with a good plan and eager to set forth at around 7.00am. The group consisted of Acts2youthgroup, dak, muzza, Rabbitto and pprass. The plan was to go straight to the farthest cache which was this one and then work our way back to Melbourne over the day - good plan eh!
It took us around 3.5hrs to get to the starting point of this cache, however with all of the banter in the vehicle it seemed just like a few minutes. We got out of the Patrol at 10.30am in a fantastic spot next to the boulders and took in the clean and warming air and the wonderful scenery. Very similar to Harry's Lookout actually. We got to GZ and started to look all over, but even with 5 > 1 kilo cachers no cigar after 15-20 minutes searching. Checked the hint which was no great help and then Rabbitto suddenly looked way over there and found it. I had the wrong co-ords. so I was looking way over the top of the rocks!. Thanks Derringer for highlighting this spot. tn/ln

First of fifteen finds in company with acts2youthgroup, Muzza, pprass, and Rabbitto. We decided to tackle the two Derringer caches first up, supposedly, in the cool of the morning. It was relatively cool for this one. We gathered the information at WP1, and set off to GZ. The walk to GZ was OK to start with, but turned nasty close to GZ.
Geez, I hate 'em in rocks! Adding insult to injury, this was another of those caches that provides a choice of altitude. Of course, we chose the wrong altitude to begin with. When we failed to find it there, Rabbitto tried the other altitude, and found it at 1100. Garmin: 1, Magellans: 0. We had decrypted the hint, but it didn't make sense until we found the cache. Thanks to Derringer for the cache.
IN: 'Crater Lake' Eagle TB (Temperature: 31°C)

This is a beautiful location with fantastic views. Got to location but decided it was in a perilous postion for somebody like me. Eventful day, gashed leg on broken branch and wife nearly stepped on a snake. Now travel with first aid kit.
Didnt know what exactly to expect ,as this is foreign area to me. What a fantastic area ,camp ground and surrounds. Did the climb thing and worked out the next co-ords, but had to leave that for a future camping trip as the light was fast fading. Thanks Derringer for a great excursion. I will be back!
Our last for the day and with light and weather deteriorating we didn't get to the neighbour.
Took the short cut and have the abrasions and splinters to prove it.
TFTC Took stickers and left glasses cleaners

We camped here overnight after the Vic End of the year event ready for an early start. We went to the lookout whilst waiting for a GPS lock, collected the required information, took in the magnificent views and still only one satellite lock. Went down and explored the caves and found out more of Captain Melville's history. With still only one satellite we went back to the lookout, stayed there for a further twenty minutes. Looks like the GPS gods are having a day off today as we still only have one satellite. Doing a Derringer cache with no GPS is not an option so today it looks like we'll just play tourist
Thanks Derringer for the great views

Found by bevfre 1.50pm Long walk but worth it, Took Stickers left blue button, thank you Derringer.
We had little Elli with us and started ok ,but ended with a DNF at 400m from the hide. We must of went the wrong way and found ourselves like bugs in a spiders web in the thick scrub...We'll be back, using the track that Romax wrote about.
Thanks for a fun day anyhow.

Found by Mary & David at 1615. This took longer than it should have owing to the nature of the terrain at GZ. The walk there was very pleasant, though, and the views were great. Took small metal clip, left a $10,000 Hell Bank Note. For some reason, the old tongue twister 'round the rugged rocks the ragged rascal ran' kept coming to mind. Our thanks to Derringer for another classic. Ran out of time to attempt its neighbour - we'll just have to come back again.
Third one for the day. After arriving at the first co-ords we expolred the caves then off to find the cache.
After attempting to approch from the wrong direction and having to back track and climb several hills we finally foung it at around 15:00. With the weather threatening we followed the path back.
Great location and a good walk. TNLN.

Found by Roma and Max at 10.30am. A pleasant walk in although weather is threatening.
Max is the gopher as Roma is still recovering after her hip replacement op, but walking is good physio.
Took: Glue Stick.
Left: Smiley Face, paper clip & Biro.
Thanks Derringer this starts from a great camping spot which we have used many times over the years.
