Out on our last day in Maitland area with iluvtrekking. Quite chilly but not rain or wind. Amazing wombat condominiums here to negotiate. Found the cow out 5 mts from where gps indicated in prickly bush. Thanks for the hide.
A drive around Point Pearce to find some of the caches thereabouts.
We loved looking at all the wombat ‘apartments’ nearby.
Many thanks for showing us this area Big Red Expeditions

After descending the cliff face we only then read the description of not needing to. It didn't take long after that to grab what was left of the prize. We did have a few spares on board so have replaced the container with a new one. A nice place for a short snack the off to the rest along this track. Thank you for the placement of the Clem's Victorian View cache Big Red Expeditions find number 7869 on 18 May 2021 at 1:56 pm
Can the next cacher that comes out bring a replacement I’m not sure how much longer this one will hold up.
So we did it, we took the plunge and early last year made arrangements to sell our little hobby farm in South Gippsland and ‘do a Big Lap’. Then Covid hit , super bad timing but it just made us more determined to go.
No full lap is complete without a lap of the little island first. So after tidying up our affairs and putting everything into storage, we celebrated Christmas with our families and hit the road.
We recently spent 7 magnificent weeks in beautiful Tasmania, then we just did a quick trip down the west coast of boring old Victoria, making our way to South Australia.
There we spent 20 odd days along the Limestone coast, bagging out on Abalone most days, very few crayfish though The Fleurieu Peninsula and beautiful Adelaide done It was then off to the Barossa to follow the footsteps of my Great Grandfather who lived in a Willow Tree with his family. That was a highlight of the trip so far, we then raked a few crabs along Parham (Thompson’s beach of course ) and foraged for Razor fish at Port Wakefield.
The Yorke Peninsula has no called our name, we’ll be here for a week or so,
A few caches along the ways
Thanks for being one of the CO’s who supplied us with a cache to do on the way.

Today, the weather was forecast to be dismal with thunderstorms and a rain drenching! Consequently, gridge98 and I retreated to the more dry vicinity of Upper Yorke Peninsula. Other than a few drizzles, we had good weather. We visited Paskeville, Kadina, Moonta, Balgowan, Point Pearce, Maitland, and Arthurton, with highlights of the mining relics, 4WD-ing along the west coast beach, and finally dinner and heading around Maitland. A long day out and about, arriving home just after midnight.
Some more grand views of the bay from this location. We spent a little time looking for this one, until the cache finally revealed itself. The logbook was in good shape, but the container lid was cracked. Thanks Big Red Expeditions for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance. It was also nice to have found this cache with 769 days [25.3 months / 2.11 years] of unfound love since its last find on 12/08/2018. A nice oldie 01/2005 hidden cache too.

2.5 years and we were the first one since. Cache didn’t take to long to find and the cache has definitely seen better days and needs fixing up
Today With the weather more promising on the yorke peninsula than in Adelaide, Davidwazza and I decided to head over and clean out as much as we could as well as doing quite a bit of beach 4wdriving.
In total 87 finds within 1 DNF for the day.
Thanks for the Cache

A day out exploring from our base at Moonta Bay. We decided to visit Chinaman's Well and surrounds and had a great day, driving on beaches, muddy and slippery roads and avoiding wombat holes.
A nice slippery drive along here, following some overnight rain. Nothing the Hilux couldn't handle though and it added to the fun. Showers were blowing through as we slipped and slid along the side track to the plaque. great views across, when the mist/rain cleared.

Enjoyed the day finding smileys and Mr Frog performing the occassional 'crop inspection'

Found with my Hero Husband (Moneydork) and a few other cachers on a weekend away. Thanks.
What a weekend!
Set out Saturday with Dennisc52, CPwanderer and Clare007 in Dennisc52's geomobile, accompanied by Moneydork and Tounga in theirs.
We met firesafe over there too.
I bailed ship on Saturday night when Dennisc52 and crew returned home, so that I could continue to cache on Sunday with Laighside Legends, firesafe and Moneydork and Tounga.
By the end of the weekend, I had finished the 'current' geoart on YP and totalled 275 & 3DNFs .
Part 2 of the adventure: Laighside and I had the pleasure of being driven by firesafe to some great caching and historical spots that I had never been to before.
Great drive into here, although the road was as smooth as a baby's bu.......
That must be one wide tractor to need a road that wide!
Great spot, lots of waterbirds and great views.

After a day yesterday down in southern Yorkes for some power trailing (and other caches as well) it was time for some 4WDing up the west coast with locus cache,Moneydork, Leighside Legend and Tounga, grabbing caches along the way. Thanks to all the cache hiders.
Found It!
An interesting drive out here with locus cache, firesafe and Moneydork. Took us a little while to get ourselves in the right spot at GZ but we soon found it!

For some reason, this cache wasn’t loaded in my GPS. Luckily DISK had it in his. I’d just stopped here to see what the plaque said . Some big Wombat holes around here.
Great to get over to this side of the Bay, I've been looking out from Port Victoria to Point Pearce for some years. I've even been fishing in these waters for some time. So today with A.C we made the trip.
Wow what an amazing view and amazing wombat holes. The birds were wonderful. TFTC

Touring Australia having left Perth in late February we are leisurely touring Australia after having attended Oz Mega.
Today we toured from Maitland to Port Vincent then up and around Pearce Point to Chinamans Well then up to The Gap all in company with iluvtrekking.
What a majestic coastline we thoroughly enjoyed the places that Geocaching took us to today. We took way too many photos and will have to cull some! We had the warmest day we have had for a week with the temperature getting to 20degrees! [^] We started the day with gloves and 2 jumpers but ended it in shirt sleeves.
Thanks for placing a cache to help us explore this area. [^] Entered Pearce Point from Cattle Yards and just loved the area and caches. Managed to avoid falling down any wombat holes, and even saw a Wombat. Very exciting.

Out and about with FelixII exploring the west coast of Yorke Peninsula.
We left the Maitland Show Grounds, where we are staying, and headed off westward to a strikingly beautiful and remote coastline which reminded us in many ways of parts of Western Australia.
We survived the wombat holes and paid our respects to Clem, thanks for your cache Big Red Expeditions.

We found this cache as part of our family YP camping trip. Over the 12 days we saw some fantastic scenes and did a heap of cool stuff. This really is a beautiful slice of our country. To top off an already wonderful trip, we also found 145 caches, 6 trackables, 1 pathtag and attended 1 event.
Thanks for the cache!!
Thanks for the cache!!
Just like theKellyGang to miss these ones Yesterday Grrrr! As we drove to the Honeycomb Tank never noticed theses ones so came back today to take fellow cacher to find the Honeycomb Tank and for us to find the 3 we missed. As we were spending a few nights at Wallaroo and catching up with few Cachers at a an Event Held by Dazzatron for us TheKellyGang, thought we would go for a drive to clean up some caches in the area of the YP. Out with a fellow Cacher today as we offered to help do a maintenance run with them. TFTC

Found by xxTTxx on a day caching with the kids. Thanks for the hide Big Red Expeditions
I enjoyed coming out here and seeing the bay. I especially loved the stranded seaweed decorating all of the bushes wherever the tide had come in. Nice to hear some of Clem's history from Mum Grom. Cache # 496.
This is a favourite spot for the Rocky Glen Grommets - decided to take Pop Grom for a drive and check out Port Vic from the sea - was a great day for a drive - checked on Clem's View and picked up a TB.
I really liked this location well worth the drive but dont get to close to the edge like I did.Cliff Young was almost not. Left a TB to take in the view and relax for a while.Another thing dont ask GUM-AKO for directions when leaving this spot, it was almost 4WD country the way we went.TFTC it was great.
A memorable cache in in many ways - Tk2 caught on a compromising trip, was it caching or crashing? vast marshland views that reminded me o fLord of the Rings, and a route worthy of the Big Red Expedition cacher name. Anyways - isn't the journey always moreimportnat than the destination?!! [8(]
TNLNSL thanks for a fun caching experience

Decided - drive the car for the day which cache? mmm what about Clem's Victorian View... So long way to drive the car and I make mistake take wrong direction but worth to see other side of ocean - beauty view as well.. finally found the track and found the cache - no problem. Another beauty view. SL. Thanks Big Red Expeditions for organising the cache and hunt.
Day 3 hiding day of the long weekend caching event. 2nd of 28 finds for the day/110 for the weekend. Quick Find after a slippery drive in. TNLNSL. TFTC.
We took the 4WD track in, but decided to come back out the other way. It was good to look back at where we had been staying for the last few days. TFTC
We have been planning to do this one for a while and today (40 degrees) was the ideal day - there was no better place to be - sea breeze, great location and a very symbolic place. Clem Graham was a master butterfish fisherman and we fondly remember him so the location had great significance to the Rocky Glen Grommets. We were even able to pick up Daisy the Cow (would you believe we once had a Daisy Cow painted on one of our kitchen doors - dead serious - no joke!!!) We were happy to bring her home - it was too dark to take her picture with the farm animals so we'll do the photos in the morning and then log them - she was very excited to see our cows - black and white but belted galloways!
We got to do a double whammy on this cache - I had a ball the first time doing some 4wd work on the way out, then once we were out in the open more, Derek (15) took over and had fun, lo and behold though, the tyre we had topped up earlier was a gonner and we were either stuck changing a tyre out there in 40+ heat, or we give it a quick blast with the compressor and I fly back to Pt Victoria for someone else to fix it - obvious choice, we flew but the Pt Vic boys were out so we hobbled over to Maitland but they were all closed too, so I had to change the tyre myself afterall, but at least it was on concrete under a verandah - then we got to do it all over again as Derek put a travel bug in the cache but didn't record the number, what a shame, only issue was that I now had a broken wrist and had to drive one handed - such fun we had, thanks heaps!
An oustanding cache for me due to the track getting there.
Came into Pt Pearce and turned left at the TAFE and followed the coast all the way round to the cache. I had a ball. Kangaroos, Wombat holes and even a little bit of sand driving and a narrow old twisty track. Spent ages doing this one and loved it.
The stand out experience of my 2 days away.

Like Clem, Tarmar likes this spot and so do the flies. Beautiful Spring day. TNLN
500m from the cache met a car driving out with an eTrex on the dash. Stopped for a chat and found it was J_&_J. Then onwards to the cache which was quickly found. Took a chicken and left a dinosaur. Thanks Bid Red Expeditions.
Finally got around to finding our closest un-found to home. The 2wd Hilux made easy work of the roads, coming in from Point Pearce. Miss J found the cache while I was wondering if a torch would be needed. As we left the cache, we saw a silver Vitara approach with yellow instrument on dashboard. Never guessed we would meet Richary way out here! Took Ribbit, left cat. Thanks Big Red Expeditions. Good to meet you Richary.
Enjoyed the drive, think we went the hard way, but had heaps of fun, took the easy way back, left Ribbit bear to watch all the Ribbit holes TNSL. Clem certainly has some Vic views.
cheers and thanks for the cache

What a road. Alice and James enjoyed the corrugations heaps. They loved the vibrations. I guess the fluoride generation does not have to worry about their filings falling out.
Great cache though. Impressive views from an angle I did not know existed.

Nice scenic drive in from Port Victoria. Surprised to see a very active wombat burrow on the cliff face, not far from GZ. Cheers!
Nice easy drive and a quick find by the whole gang, who then descended on the cache.
Took stuff, left other stuff.

A great fun cruise along the beach. Got a bit confused once or twice as we came in via backroads from Port Victoria. But we just kept close to the sea and soon had the cache. Beautiful blue sea and plenty of fresh air. TNLNSL. Special thanks to D from TDB here for showing us how to climb back from the cache.
headed towards cache went through point pearce then turned west ended up about 5km north of the cache. Wasn't real sure which road to take may try again if we go back some day thanks for an interesting drive.
Yes, a beautiful spot...found Brutus Travel Bug and we are currently planning his next stop. Will add photos to his travel log.
Great views of Victoria from here! Took the road from Point Pearce. Wasn't too bad with the low slung geomobile. Muggles were tending a boat about 300m away, but managed to conceal our logging process.
Left a Patch and took the ruler. Also left 'Brutus' TB to be near the sea again.
Thanks BRE
PS: the track really isn't that bad in the dry!

Found this one easliy after a detour from Pt Pearce. Great fun track, 2wd accessible in dry weather. We headed to Victoria for a nice lunch on the beach. Took USB extension, left pedometer and yugioh sticker. Thanks, GGG.
Its a long way off the beaten track and we came in through Cinamans Well, across the beach and down some GeoCruiser duco scratching sandy tracks that are not well used. Plenty of swans and shags or cormorants, which reminds me...
The common cormorant or shag,
lays eggs inside a paper bag
The reason you will see no doubt
is to keep the lightning out.
But these so ever unobservant birds
have never noticed
that herds of wandering bears
they come with buns
and steal the bags to hold the crumbs.
Sorry couldn't help myself.
Finally a great spot with a little elevation and a view of "Victoria"
No visits for a while but its still there.
TOOK: Green Purse/Wallet + some photos (attached)
LEFT: Small Ruler + Dinasoar.
Thanks "Big Red"
Cheers

Sorry you couldn't make it Mr Walker, but I take my hat off for a valiant try in a corolla! If you read the description, I said that the track was accessable in 2wd only in very dry conditions, which July isnt. Winter rains tend to turn the track into a mud bath and sends the local vegetation into overdrive. Perhaps when you're next on Yorke's in the summer months you'll be able to stop by again.
Got very close to this via track from Port Victoria, but can't agree with description of track. It was almost overgrown and very rough. I take my little Corrola most places, but after bottoming out constantly, gave up about a K from the GZ. Would have walked from there but had to be back in Tumby Bay that night and still had some interesting caches to look at on the way. Will certainly have a go at this agin when I have more time.
Took the long 4WD option in from the Point Pearce community. And this proved to be a ball! Signed log, enjoyed views then returned to Victoria via the short route. Cheers.
Now I know what the name means. Found the long way in on the 2nd attempt. Found a shorter way out. Took a rock (it's cool) and left a glue stick. Any idea wat the structure nearby was used for? Cheers and thanks.
Thoroughly enjoyed this one. Came round from Point Pearce and then followed the tracks through to Port Victoria to camp.
A great spot - some pics to follow. Will be back to do some more seriuous exploring.
Thanks

With all the camping gear packed up from the weekend spent across the bay (TheNavigatrix was diving the wrecks), we decided to head across - no - make that around to the cache.
I don't think we took the most direct land route but we ended up in the right place eventually. Steve the GoeLab enjoyed running the cobwebs that were built up of a weekend on leash by running up and down the hill once or twice.
MissAdventure rummaged in the car as she found a keyring that she is going to take to Japan in a few weeks. She eventually found a pink rock - it is a cool rock and a good swap.
Thanks for taking us across the bay.

No seriously we did not take the van there and were very glad we had decided to leave it elsewhere.
Congrats on being the first finders Liz and Bruce. Did you seriously take a caravan in there??? I truly take my hat off to you for that!

Took us a little while to find the right track in and definitely not caravan friendly. Came at low tide which was just as well as high tide looks like it covers the track in places. Enjoyed going to part of the coast we had not been to before. Good views - we also looked at the coast on the other side on the point and it was scenic too. Took shackle and left keyring. Thanks Big Red Expedition.
Nice views across the blue waters. If you walk to the top of the hill you can see the sea on both sides.
Interesting Pic and information about Clem at the nearby Pt Pearce Primary School.
GZ is a suitable location for Clem. TNLN Thanks Big Reds.
