Good find-took a little bit of hunting but we got there! Unfortunately we forgot a pen to sign the log!

01-Jan-22
It was my local hide for during my stay in Awhitu for summer holidays 2021/2022
Beautiful location and I'm glad that this cache was replaced by Supernannny! Thanks Helen
Best access to the cache is from the end of Hatton Road...
TFTC and Happy New year!

B4Dawn and I had made plans to adventure in the general Awhitu area to walk and clear out some caches but then the rain set in....ah we don't mind that lets go anyway...just pack the waterproof clothes and jackets!! There were periods it was quite clear and others with really bad wind and rain that made us question what the hell we were doing out but as always it was an adventure and of course some smiley faces to be had.

After finishing the park we drove closer to the start of the walk and made our way down to the beach....I love caching for bringing us to unexpected places like this one!

Didn't take long to find the cache.

Thanks for bringing us here - a fav point.

Spent an excellent day with Keylev. Super wet day, soggy hiking boots but a boat load of caches to show for it!

Lovely beach out here. Walked up to tree and was quickly found. TFTC

6th October 2021. Couldn’t locate. A lot more flax around since we last viewed this item.

05-Apr-21
Another great day on Uber harbour with cp123456789 a novice geocacher who’s got the bug

29-Feb-20
We came in from the Matakawau Rd end which probably isn't the best end to approach as the dodgy stairs had broken 'keep out' tape on them. At the top we saw why, the cliff edge has fallen away at one part so was very narrow so not recommended if you have kids with you. We soon arrived at the lovely beach and some kayakers were enjoying it as well but were far enough away to not worry about us. There was something very dead at gz so searching was very unpleasant as the smell was overpowering. Thankfully thanks to Supernanny's detailed log of where she had replaced the cache we made a quick find and were able to get away and get some fresh air into our lungs.

29-Feb-20
Last cache for the day after attending the Leap Year event at Awhitu. We parked at the given parking coords and walked up the dodgy stairs (ignoring the'keep out' tape.) Along the overgrown track, we saw erosion where the cliff edge had fallen away down into the sea below. It wasn't long before we were near gz - a lovely beach with the tide in and crystal clear water. It would be nice to say we had the place to ourselves - except there were some kayakers further along the beach. As we approached gz we smelt something dead - and didn't want to approach from that side, so tried from the other side. Reading Supernanny's detailed log of where she had replaced the cache, we soon had the cache in hand. MrsJAG paddled in the water to ease her wasp sting from earlier in the day, before returning back along the dodgy trail to the car.

Lovely spot. Thanks for replacement cache. Tftc

Came here today from Hatton Rd Track . Just a short walk .
Was amazed to see this little beach !
Had it all to myself today .
As others have said the container is gone .
Have emailed the Owner ,,,, but they may not be still caching these days .
Have tied a camoed bison at GZ .... Roots of tree .
Until they can maintain or archive .
Thanks for bringing me here cj.trex

11-Apr-19
Have looked in obvious place and seems to be missing. Previous cacher noted it wasn’t in good condition, 1 year later we don’t think it is there anymore. May need checking on thanks!

10-Apr-19
A DNF for us on this one today. Arrived just after sunset and searched GZ for about 1 hour but the lack of light & patience got the better of us. This cache has not been found for almost a year so skeptical if it is even there. Will come back once owner has checked everything is ok. Nice beach walk though!

26-May-18
I was glad to see that the weather finally was going to be good today after a week full of rain and cold. So I made the decision to drive to Manukau heads and visit a couple of Geocaches. I could find them all except for one and I really enjoyed the beautiful landscapes out in nature!
The path was pretty muddy but got to GZ without any bigger problems. Spotted Cache quick even if it is not in a very good shape. I was not able to close it properly.
Thanks for hiding this one!

05-Feb-18
Find number 3717. Initially I parked at the end of the wrong road so we had to move closer to save a walk. The tide was in so we had to take the track. Once at the top I did get concerned as we approached a massive slip. Some of the track had disappeared as well. It is safe but we had to be careful. Just before we got back to sea level there were a couple of "bridges" to cross. One had moved but was able to be crossed. My daughter was not sure about the condition of the next so she sent me over first as if it held my weight it would hold hers. The cache was quickly found. Not quite what I expect but I was glad to make the find. Signed and returned. Then it was back the same way. Thank you for bring me to this great beach.

29-Jan-18
Love the pun. Cache has seen better days though and log was damp. TFTC

27-Jan-18
Hi thanks for the fun

20-Jan-18
Plan for this weekend to visit Awhitu Peninsula Never been in this area before except Waiuku.
Met up with fellow cachers from Huntly on Friday night and travelled up on Saturday morning. Plan to start at bottom and work up.+ Cachers were signed with the team name HRT being first letter of our home towns (Huntly, Rotorua, Tauranga)
Generally caches were good but some a little damp, others requiring reading descriptions, hints and other cachers comments to make finds.
As the day went on we realised we would have to return the next day to complete, so this made it a Saturday & Sunday mission.
Weather was great and some amazing sites visited.
Wish to thank all CO's for caches placed. Great trip. SLTFTC

With Gap (of Fap and Gap), ABCDF4, and eyespyben... For convenience, we group signed the logs H(untly) R(otorua) T(auranga) (or P(apamoa), depending on who signed and how heat-addled we were at the time...) We've been planning a raid on the Awhitu Peninsula for some time, with a view to clearing the area of caches... It's time to execute this mission.

Awhitu Regional Park: As this one seemed just out of the park boundary, we decided to walk for it. The coastal views were pleasant on the way to ground zone. This hide requires attention, as the container is broken and the logbook is very wet. Did what we could to sign in... TFTC.

01-Jan-18
I had suggested to the Beconazes we head out to this beautiful park for lunch and a spot of geocaching. So as we were in the area Mr Beconaze suggested we divert off out of the park to pick up this cache while we were here. The tide was in, so we were walking in the soft sand just above the high tide line, as we were aware there may be birds nesting in the grasses, and didn't want to disturb them too much. reaching GZ, Mr Beconaze too the plung in the right direction and quickly had the cache in hand.

01-Jan-18
Found while we were out in the Awhitu Regional Park. What a nice little beach here. The log is very very wet and it was difficult to sign so it may need a little TLC from the CO

31-Dec-17
Was out in about today on the peninsula today and thought of finding a this cache Razz . I parked at the end of Hatton road and walked down and along the coastal boardwalk. After 5 minutes of searching the cache was soon in hand Smile . Thanks for the cache cj.trex Big Grin . TFTC!!! SmileSmile

23-Nov-17
GeoRick and I made our way over the track to get this one. We had a nice view of some kayakers in the bay. TFTC.

23-Nov-17
Out for a great days caching with Agazo on a sunny day. Nice walk along the cliff top. Mrs GeoRick spent some time taking photographs of the kayakers paddling below.

14-Sep-17
In my spare time today I decided to head up the Awhitu peninsular to find some caches. Although the weather report wasn't encouraging, the rain held off until I had finished my caching for the day.
Found as per the previous logger. TFTC, Biggles.

05-Jun-17
Canister is in need of some tlc, or a complete redo. Everything was wet. Will bring some new materials to it and replace if the original person hasn't soon. TFTC

23-Oct-16
Got to GZ via the beach just as the tide was starting to come in, and made a quick find in the likely spot where the title really made some sense. Decided to take the high road on the way back before enjoying a quick bite and then heading on my way - TFTC

16-Jul-16
Today was a chance to go caching with Mrs Dragon. It doesn't happen that often as the places that I tend to go are often too wild and rugged for her. As it turned out many of these roads we travelled it was a case of us both enjoying the drive, the countryside and stormy windy weather, and I going to retreive the cache.
Nevermind was still a day full of memories that make up caching.

This was the fifteenth of the day after passing through Waiuku heading for Awhitu Peninsula and South Head, it was now time to start heading back down the other side of the peninsula. Parked at the required location and quickly made my way down to the GZ (all the time working hard not to end up RSE over kite in the slippery conditions). Managed to locate in first spot and took a moment to enjoy the view before heading back up to Mrs Dragon waiting with the car.

Thanks for the cache, Thanks for the placement

06-Apr-16
Found with family during holiday trip.

06-Apr-16
Spent some time at the trailhead beach until walked the path to the cache. Easy find, tide was low. Greetings from Finland. TFTC.

19-Mar-16
Awesome, great location and fairly easy to find. It is still in good order.

16-Feb-16
#11626. Before setting out to get to this cache we realised that Hatton Road was not the recommended parking spot. However, after reading some logs we saw that some cachers approached from the that direction, so we set off down the track. Turned out that approaching from the north was straightforward, and we soon located the cache. TFTC.

16-Feb-16
The weather forecast for the next few days is for rain, so we decided that today would be the best day to drive up the Awhitu Peninsula to the Manukau Heads. This is an area that neither of us had visited before and it was an interesting journey.
We drove down Hatton Rd to access the two caches in the regional park, and hoping we'd find a way to get to this cache as well as there appeared to be a track on the geocaching map. Then we noticed the cache description had parking co-ordinates on another road. Bugger. We carried on down the road and found a path going down to the beach then a boardwalk and bridge across the creek. Soon we were at GZ where the cache was a quick find, nice container! It's a little worse for wear, and part of it has now broken off, but that hasn't affected the water tightness of the container at all.
A lovely bay, thanks for bringing me here and TFTC.

05-Jan-16
A clever little hide and a quick find on the way along the beach with stellaalouise! TFTC

28-Dec-15
Haha, very cute camo. And thanks so much for the walk out to the beach! We jut had to go swimming - spent perhaps two hours paddling on some makeshift 'rafts' with okayness, Kakesnz and Dor. Definitely bring togs to this particular find!

28-Dec-15
On a daytrip around the Awhitu Peninsula with Okayness, Snarsha & Dor. What a stunning beach. Nobody there and after a quick find (awesome camo although it is starting to fall apart) the "youngsters" spent a few hours with an impromptu swim. #3 today. TFTC

One of our favourite beaches around the Bach
Thanks for creating this one

13-Jul-14
Found it after a 30 minute search. Was confused by looking for a 'green' container Smile good hiding place though! Only got the clue after finding the cache haha

04-Mar-14
Found this one whilst killing time before our flight home to Australia. Didn't quite realise how far it was from Auckland, and after a couple of wrong turns, we only just made it back, without too much time to spare! A lovely and peaceful place - only regret we didn't have more time to explore.

23-Jan-14
Found after a brief search. Thanks for bringing us to this exquisite place which we arrived at just on sunset. Once we found it, the cache title made sense! SL. TFTC Smile

Was out at the heads today so made my way to grab this on my return. A nice cliffside walk and luckily the rain held out. A nice easy find thanks to the detailed clue. Thanks!

04-Aug-13
We took a wrong turn and ended up north of this cache. We approached the cache from the north over a slippery road and followed by a boardwalk...short walk over the beach.

Camping at Awhitu and had a nice adventure trying to get to this fella! Thanks!

14-Jul-12
Out and about with Lostcourse and FMZ this evening. After getting a joint FTF on a newly published cache nearby we decided to make the walk to this one. It was well after 1am when we made the walk from the carpark to GZ. On arrival to GZ, we narrowed down the items mentioned in the hint and made a quick find. Nice to see another old cache still surviving and in good condition. Left TB for moving along. TFTC! Big Grin

14-Jul-12
After a 1am FTF at the nearby Treasure Island cache, lostcourse, mike-miss and I decided to head around the shoreline to this cache while we still had our muddy clothes and gumboots on. On the way there, lostcourse decided he wasn't muddy enough yet and decided to roll around in the mud - he's strange like that. But since he was the one that finally, found after about 2 hours searching, the Treasure Island cache, we won't it against him. This cache, on the other hand, was a very quick find at 1:30am. A neat idea for a cache and a favourite for me, for the cache and the location. TFTC!!! Big Grin

14-Jul-12
Well, after successfully completing FTF mission; Geocaching Madness at 1am on the nearby Treasure Island, we thought another muddy beach walk was in order. Yes, after showing much agility on the cliffs of Otamanewa Island a small rock did cause me to trip and take a roll in the mud. Never mind, I was going to have to change my cloths anyway. Super quick find at GZ. Cheers for the walk and the cache!

Not a nice place at all. Like the cache though..
Due to the tide and all the weed on the foreshore the place smelt lol

Great day to be out and about to enjoy the beaches in this area. Arrived at GZ and surprised to see that it had already had a visit today. The cows must be wondering what is going on with all the visitors Surprised. Great theme going on here, we have a similar hide on Rangitoto T4TC.

20-Mar-11
Nice cliff top walk with the family, with the girls assisting with the find. Container is diametrically opposite in both colour and size to the one mentioned, but a great idea that I might have to plagiarise later. As an aside, my father in law (RIP) made the bridge at the north end of the "beach". TFTC

03-Jan-11
Great secluded beach. Birds eggs just above high tide mark have been fenced off. Found it easily. Great idea for a cache container. Thanks for leading me to this location.

23-Apr-10
Nice cache! Took Bee-Ware, and will find a new nest for it soon.

02-Apr-10
After setting up camp at the park we set about finding the local caches. A good walk before dinner to the beach, via the cliff top. (we saw the warning signs as we finished the dangerous part!) Had a couple of first timers with us so were determined to find it after a disappointment earlier in the day. A very cool container. Thanks bringing us here. TNLNSL Cheers BBMP+

Interesting walk along the cliff top, the cows all came over to check us out. Found easily without using hint, cool container and well hidden. Walked back around the beach with the tide approaching fast. Out: Tommy Tortoise TB, and Ullis Glueckscoin In: Bee-Ware geocoin and a toy.

Has anyone seen our Gogo home sweet home travelbug in this cache lately?
It's been there already for a long long time and want's to travel home to The Netherlands

23-Nov-08
Have to be colour blind to find this one. Located spot but no cache (as described) so went on to next one and suddenly the light went on. Hurried back and 'ding'... there it was. Glad it was East of Matakawau and not West. Surveying skills came in handy for this one. Took a muggler and her K9 for a workout. TFTC Took party poppers, left key-ring-jandals

18-Nov-07
Out on a caching day with Tufty. No problem finding the cache, despite the great camo! In keeping with the title, left a reflector. Cheers.

18-Nov-07
The 4th for Coldstream and I for today. We started from the other side but changed our minds and approached it from a different angle. We wasted a bit of time doing that. Should have kept to original plan. Never mind we got there in the end. Loved the "green" camo colour scheme. Great cache container. Walked along the beach to get here and then returned by the cliff track.
In: GoGo TB
Out: Nil.
Cheers for the cache.

Nice walk although a bit slippery in spots. Quick find and really loike the cache. Was peering at me as I was kneeling down to look. Absolutely illuminating!
TNLNSL B4 muggles came over from the other side.
Cheers, TFTC.

08-Jun-07
Took the dogs on this one! Found it with ease. Lots of muggles about, mostly children from the nearby Christian camp. They took a long time leaving and then we dashed in to retrieve the cache! Nice container!

Signed the log: took nothing as we had nothing to add.
When we headed back, the tide had come fully back in forcing us to wade (waist height at points) back to the beach. Lucky the dogs are good swimmers....

Thanks for a great adventure!

27-May-07
My mum found it. Yah! We took the easter egg because there was ants in the container. We left a sharpener. Good sticky walk to GZ. We laughed and laughed. IT WAS FUN!

10-Mar-07
Took a pleasant paddle around from the ARC campsite at Awhitu. Nice afternoon for it. Got to the beach no trouble and straight to the cahce. Obvious where it is located as all the plants are bent over. I tried to straighten them a bit but not too successfully. Good container, very clever!! TFTC. TNLN. Cheers

11-Feb-07
Found with BFR, was the 6th find for the day.
Walked along the beach and waters edge, managed to keep feet dry. A nice quiet area, only saw 1 local around GZ.
