Found during a caching circuit from Wartook, Zumsteins, Halls Gap and Heatherlie Quarry while staying at Horsham for a few days. Enjoyed the walk around the area of Heatherlie Quarry late in the day, learning about its interesting history. Thanks for the cache Hall of Fame!

Quick find of the clues, not so quick on a circuitous route to the final destination. Very interesting walk through the history and the wildflowers.

Plenty of information to absorb. It was a pleasant walk late in the afternoon through the township and the quarry.

Over our bushwalking years we have been here about 5 times, but we never saw half of what we have today!
We are so impressed! There has been an outstanding job exposing all the history here!

We really are impressed.
A Favourite Point coming your way!
Thanks for bringing us here again and opening our eyes!

We left a trackable sticker we received at the Recent Easter, Mega Event at Rutherglen.
We didn’t take anything.

Thanks for a wonderful historical tour!
We both really appreciated it.'

We didn't know about the history here but due to there being a cache we drove in to check it out. It was great to learn about the area and walk around the relics. A little bit of a search to find the cache, but we managed to find it and sign the log, then spend some time walking the rest of the loop. TFTC.

Cowgirl_101 and l headed to Halls Gap for some RNR, sightseeing and of course caching. This location was one of those caches where you have to thank the CO for bringing us here. This was such a great and interesting location. Had no probs finding the information required and then headed to the location. So many amazing things to see here. So much amazing information. Found the cache in great condition, signed the log and rehid the cache. Thanks again for bringing us here. A fav from me.

Thanks to Hall Of Fame for this multi.
Once we arrived at the listed co-ordinates we gathered the info and soon had some co-ordinates for GZ.
Off we walked enjoying the historical relics along the way.
A quick find at an interesting spot.
An enjoyable wander around this historical area.

Sorry for the delayed log.

This cache was found with ilukaperi on an outing to the western districts.

Spent ages trying to find the right boards. On a few hunches we found the final coordinates. Good job too, because I was getting grumpy as it was past my beer o'clock and Ilukaperi was making me do multi caches!

How rude!

01-May-22
Day1976 and I camped at a free camp past halls gap last night, and today was the only caching day we had. We had crossing off a some good caches already today, and got a bit saturated, then dried out, and then got drizzled on yet again, the weather seemed to have cleared.
Day1976 found it after some searching, while I scoured the signboards for information.

What a great spot to explore, thanks for the cache we had a blast doing this one!

Found with FUF009.
My 1st chance to get out of the City and I took some leave. It was also my birthday on the Friday.
We had initially planned to go camping but the weather wasn't so hot so day trips it is! And actually this was a great day trip. I love the countryside and the open road.
This weekend felt "normal" again after so long apart and in various lockdowns.

After a huge day 2 days ago, we'd had a day of rest and are back at it again today.
My 1st foray into this area and I was intrigued, worried about my fitness, entralled by the views and range of terrain and variety of features.

I found several points of interest but would really struggle here with some of the long hikes. My fitness was never amazing but lockdown has added several kilos and reduced any stamina I might have once had.

We managed to stay dry here.
A nice walk.

Find # 10111
Found with sharkiefan

We headed over Halls Gap way as sharkiefan had never been here before.
So with a small number of caches on our list for the morning and some sight seeing thrown in while at Halls Gap, we were in for a great day.
Despite the rain while we were in Halls Gap we managed to keep relative dry and still had a good time, even checking out one of my fav lookouts.

Our short list of caches became quite the long list of finds by days end, as sharkiefan realised a milestone was getting quite close, and we could make it there with the caches on offer.

So with sharkiefan navigating after lunch, we criss crossed the countryside making interesting finds and seeing some cool sights.

Just loved this area. All the old implements and all the history around, just awesome to find.

We had camped last night at the Plantation campsite near this cache. We had packed up camp and felt that a walk in the morning would warm us up as it was quite chilly. The vestiges of fog were weaving their way through trees as we made our way up to the Waypoint and made the necessary calculations to find GZ. This is another of those places we probably would have missed out on had it not een for Geocaching. What an amazing area that has such significance to the architectural history of this state. The cache was in excellent condition. Thank you for this cache Hall of fame.

09-Feb-21
What an amazing area! Another place that we would not have known about if it wasn't for geocaching. The old train lines curved around the cutout and the pics on the info boards really showed what it was like. GZ was located quickly. Contents in good condition. We learnt so much that I will give a fav pt. TFTC

I’m normally not a big fan of multis but I have to say that this one was incredibly wel thought out and in such an awesome location. I woke up this morning after free camping in a nearby area over night and decided to grab what caches I could around me. Very glad I stopped for this one! Enjoyed seeing the ruins and old huts and rail line. A great little place to show people. I don’t have any FPs left I’m sorry but I very much enjoyed this cache thank you!

After a great MEGA event uin St. Arnaud we went on to Halls Gap in the Greampiens NP. On the way we searched and found some caches. In the NP we went on some hikes, saw some good waterfalls and spent great days at the Free Camp. Again and again we searched and found geocaches. Thank you to the owners.

thank you for showing. it was nice here !

If there is an easy way and a hard way to locate a cache. You can count on me to take the hard hard. after being stuck on the wrong side of the heap waiting for the newly arrived muggles to leave again. I emerged to make an easy find in the end. Thanks for the amusing interlude to the afternoon

18-Sep-19
Grabbed this on the way back to our house sit from an unsuccessful attempt on "Leap of Faith" and Mt Stayplton. The route via Hollow Mountain is not really viable for us, with Mrs Juc not into heights and ledges. I noticed this Multi and the nearby EC on our way out, but with a bit of extra time on the way home, they were definitely possible.

The tired legs were unsure about getting out of the car again so soon, but once in motion, it was probably not a bad little warm-down and they loosened up.

Stopped at the sign to grab the clues, did the quick calculations and headed off via the history walk, grabbing the EC answers as we went.

A nice quick find at GZ, with the last entry in the log from some muggles who'd unearthed the cache while trying to chase down a skink.

Thanks for the multi Hall of Fame.

Time to wander across to the Grampians and perform some cache maintenance. We were booked into a cabin for 2 nights and it took 2 heaters to get us warm despite several layers of clothing.

After lunch we headed to Beehive Falls letting the satnav direct us. We didn't let us direct us on the way home and it took half the time. We really enjoyed visiting this spot.

Bloody multi's Twisted. We collected the numbers and put them in, but couldn't find anything at GZ Sad.
Went on to look at the nearby EC and checked our original co-ords, only to find we'd entered one of the digits wrong Red Face. OK, back we go to try again.
Quickly found Wink. TNLNSL.

GeoD used to visit the Grampians on a regular basis for holidays way back in his youth. Since then he has brought geoP here for a visit but this was all way before we found geocaching. So today was a trip down memory lane on both our accounts. We gathered the required information then traipsed around a bit before making the find.

During my stay in Grampians and after intensive hiking for a few days, I decided to explore the area a bit differently, finding a cache with a historical significance was the way to go. I appreciate the opportunity to see all the equipment and surrounding of the Quarry.
My geosenses failed me and locating the prize took way too long for its hiding spot. I guess I was still in the rock scrambling/difficult terrain mode after all the hikes Smile
The cache has hibernated through the winter well and is in a good condition, guarded by a lizard

Found today on our short get away to Halls Gap for the weekend. After collecting the required information we made our way to the GZ and admired all this history in the area. What an amazing story this site tells. I will make sure to pay attention to the stone at Parliament the next time I am in Melbourne. TFTC Hall Of Fame. Worth a Favorite Point for sure. Cache is in great good condition.

Also dropped off 2 x Travel Bugs.

I'm not normally a fan of multi caches but I'm really glad I took the time to find this one. The history left behind is incredible. Thanks for bringing me here.

11-Jan-17
We parked at the designated parking area and enjoyed the walk into the information hut and then continued to the area where the buildings are then onto to GZ. What a fantastic area this is an so well preserved. Life really must have been hard back when the quarry was in operation. T 1 x TB TFTC

After tackling a climb up Mt Difficult with Jacko83 we made our way back to the base and around to the quarry.
We enjoyed reading up on the history of the quarry and some of the aspects of the sandstone we had just climbed. After doing the multi calculations (twice, as the first attempt had us at an unlikely GZ) we made our way to the cache which was found in a very appropriate location. We then strolled around admiring the remaining relics.
Thanks for highlighting the history here, Hall of Fame.

After a huge day doing Mt Difficult, we decided to swing by here on route home.

This was a first visit for me, and what an awesome spot. However the multi maths took a bit of working out, with the final numbers placing us way off. After getting a more likely spot, we went for a stroll and found the cache - lots of cool old machinery around.

A great spot - thanks for highlighting!

Great spot that a lot of people don't seem to discover, well not compared to all the usual Grampians tourist hot spots. Not that we were complaining as we had the place to ourselves a few days ago (few days late on logging it!). Had a good wander around after visiting the nearby waterfall which was great to see with some decent water flowing over it. In fact as I write this we have a river forming along the roadway outside our pop top van! It is bucketing down...
Back to the Quarry. Haven't been here for many years, great to see history still in reasonably good condition. Found the cache easily, in good condition. Log signed & some muggle friends now converted. TFTC
A favourite point for the location

Decided to head to the Quarry this morning for a quick look before the long drive home. I had forgotten that I had downloaded this one to my GPS, so I had a pleasant surprise when I switched it on and had a look (more out of habit than anything else). A nice simple multi which really showcased the history of the area. Really interesting to see so much of the original infrastructure in place. The cache itself is in good condition and was located after a short search. TFTC!

I can't believe I finally go caching in my absolute favouritist area and it has taken me this long to sit down and log them! Here's hoping scrappy field notes and an even scrappier memory are up to the job Red Face Always love an excuse to have a doddle around in this area, particularly at this time of year when the orchids are out - and there were heaps so was a bit hard to stay focussed on the caching but soon had the target in hand - after much crawling around on the ground for orchid photos Wink

We really enjoyed this multi and the adventure it took us on.
We had a great time walking around the old relics here and appreciating all the hard work that was going on here back in the day.

I found this awesome cache with Ostara74 while we were on holiday in the area. What a brilliant hide! We enjoyed the hunt for this cache a lot. The local area was very interesting and a great place to visit. Thank you to Hall of Fame for their efforts of making and maintaining this cache. Thanks also for bringing us to this amazing spot. I love that caching brings me to new and usually relatively unknown places that I would never even know about, let alone find, if I wasn’t hunting for a cache. This very cool cache was my 1532nd find.

20-Apr-15
Found together with Pathfinder24.
After our first night of camping in the Grampians we were ready to explore the area. We noticed that there was both a multi and an earth cache in this area and I was tempted by that while this plus the off road drive to this place tempted Pathfinder24. Thus we headed off and got some close views of the mountains on our way. We enjoyed the short walk to the quarry and collected the necessary information. After calculations were done, we headed to GZ where the cache was located shortly after by Pathfinder24 on good coords and useful hint.
Thanks for the cache Hall of Fame! Lovely historic area that we really enjoyed visiting Smile Favourite point from me Big Grin

This cache again showed me that you can always find some secret spots with geocaching. Without this cache I wouldn't have come here and learned about the history of this area.

Thanks for this nice cache.

I was in the Halls Gap area with the young kids and, while they slept, I made a quick run to visit the quarry and do a couple of caches. It was a great spot to roam as I was the only one here and was able to browse at my leisure.

Cheers Hall of Fame, thanks for the history lesson.

We are staying in the Grampians for a few weeks from SA and had a brilliant day caching in the bright sunshine in the Northern Grampians.

We love coming to these fantastic historic areas that we would never have seen if not for geocaching. It looks like a great effort was made to preserve the historic relics in the January bushfires earlier this year.

All is safe and well with the cache. Many thanks for bringing us here Hall of Fame.[^]

We dropped in a pathtag for the next finderBig Grin and are giving this cache a favourite point.

Found on 22/03/14. Nice day out with geofam in the Grampians. Spent quite a lot of time at Heatherlie exploring. Kids had a blast! This was out first attempt at a multi! I think we had better acquaint ourselves with using a GPS and co-ordinates, as we were all over the place to begin with. But eventually got there. GeoSon is really outdoing his father on the finds of late. Much to GeoHubby's disgust!!

This year we have a long winter holiday where we are travelling in the Pacific. We are doing sightseeing and geocaching. Now we will spend a six week period in Australia where we will drive from Melbourne to Murray Bridge and then via Grampions to Canberra, Sidney and Brisbane.

We had a lovely day in Grampions looking at kangaroos, lookouts, waterfalls and other nice things. Hetherlie Quarry was orúr last stop today. When we arrived at the parking place there was totally empty. We walked the way up to the information board. We read the intresting story at the information board and strolled around and looked at the things that was left on the site. Then we also looked for information regarding the nearby earth-cache.

Thanks for showing this intresting place. We give a fp. Greetings from two Swedish cachers.

An enjoyable walk, though I was glad it was only an 18 degree day, as a 35 degree day would be shocking here, let alone 45!

Gathered the info and calculated the next step at the same time as the earth cache.

An interesting area, and I'm glad that we stopped off on our way home despite having passed by on Saturday but didn't have a chance to stop then as we were running late.
