Rutherglen Mega Trip. [^] Day 11 - Myself and Anymules are still making our way back to S.A. via a convoluted route which just happened to have caches we wanted. [^] After staying overnight at Bendigo we were up early and doing more caches before heading over to St. Arnaud and surrounds. Big Grin Into Horsham for dinner and onto Kaniva for our last overnight stop. Cool

We made the calc's and made our way to GZ. First we found the blue ring from the lid. Surprised Then we spotted the cache. It was upside down as it was broken and the lid was no longer attached. UV has taken its toll[:(!] We stamped the log and replaced as found but it will not last the winter as is. Time for some TLC. [B)]

Cache container is quite busted and contents could use a good clean up.

I found your D2.0/T2.0 Regular Multi-Cache called No Pub No Beer. on 13 April 2023. It was find #18346 for me. Thank you yt2 for placing this cache for our enjoyment in the wonderful state of Victoria.

Well there was an event I saw published in Bordertown hosted by Roaming Howie and since I was able to have 4 days off I decided to head over to attend the event and then to also do a few of the On Ya Bike series to finish off my D/T loop.
Throw a few oldies into the mix for my Ausmer grid and it was going to be a busy weekend with lots of Km’s.
So after attending an event, finding the ones required on the OYB series, surviving the heat then wind a forgotten challenge series then a few oldies and making it back to Victoria for the night it was time to head home.
Collecting caches that I come past as they say just one more.
A nicer day today with the heat turned down a bit.
This cache was one of the reasons it took me 12hrs to get home from Kaniva but that is all in the fun.
A nice quiet little town with a great park and after working out some coords I thought that I had stuffed up but after looking at the satellite view I took a chance.
Made my in to here and after a bit of searching I added my name to the log.
Another oldie found.

Big things are continuing to happen! Are you joining the fun again in 2023?

Last day of holiday today . We had a big sleep in so peaceful by the lake. We got ourselves all organized and husband headed off back to Naracoorte with the Moho and I off on a roundabout journey all over the countryside back to Adelaide. A 5 hour journey turned into 10 .
Enjoyed the long trip and the extra finds. Noticed when I got home a new AL with locations in places I had just been so will have to head back to the silo trail.
Thanks to all the CO to adding to the game and for all the prompt maintenance.
Have wanted to do this one foe years. Glad I finally detoured today but added about an hour to my journey. Was confused with the questions as couldn’t find any plaques wonder if the memorial stone has had an upgrade kn recent years? My first GZ near the cemetery looked promising but no access. Read back through logs and realized I needed to be somewhere else. What a daring expedition I had over the railway bridge (terrified a train would come exhilarated when mission complete). Took ages to unearth the cache at GZ it really needs some TLC. Epic giving this one a FP

Found after attending the 2022 Mega event at Wangaratta.

I drove across from Adelaide with Freddo. We took a week to get there and back as we meandered our way around northern Victoria, camping mostly along the river and generally avoiding contact with other people as far as possible to minimise covid risks.

We targeted some specific caches of interest, but also took the opportunity to find other random caches opportunistically as we were passing. Most of the puzzle caches we found were solved prior to leaving Adelaide in preparation for the trip.

Thanks yt2 for the cache.

It was rather damp when we visited and maybe that is why we didn't locate the cache without a PAF. Not sure how we missed it when we first searched. Thanks for placing the cache for us to find.

I used to come up to Jung before I had a licence, I can't tell you how long ago that was. Can't say that it was much livelier when I used to visit. Thanks for the cache and bringing me back here.

Wasn't too sure if the numbers were correct but took a chance. Went to the wrong side at first but once that was sorted we headed to GZ without difficulty. Then it took more of a dance before finding the cache. The lid is broken so returned it as best we could to protect it.

Heading to SA today we followed the trail of unfound Adventure Lab's and caches along the way, making it a very zig zag route.
A quaint small town leading us to a lovely location that we thought we had stuffed up at first. Tried our luck however and found the cache there in good condition.
Thanks yt2 for the tour.

With a bright and early start from home we headed towards the Southern Wimmera, to collect a few more scattered caches. Our route took more twists and turns than we had expected, luckily we were rewarded with a good number of those addictive little yellow smilie tokens.
WOW A golden oldie - almost 15 years on the gameboard.

Had a bit of trouble with this one as the questions are a bit obtuse.

**"FEEDBACK TO CO"** Time has taken a toll and the lid of the container has broken and will let water in.

Our thanks to 'yt2' for adding this cache to the geo-gameboard.

Found during a trip to St Arnaud to attend the 2019 Victorian Mega event. The weekend was spent primarily with e.gregory1, FeatherWaite, Freddo, and gridge98 as we geocached around the vicinity of St Arnaud. All of the events and CITOs were attended, we completed the available adventure labs and lab caches available at the showgrounds, many of the creative trails were gasped at their construction, and interesting puzzles were solved and collected during the weekend.

We all left on Thursday in two separate cars, and met up at the evening event, before finding a camp spot for the night in a very CITO location. On Friday, we targeted the StARS (St Arnaud Ramble Series) and the higher quality, well-constructed geocaches that were famous here in St Arnaud, and got lucky with the 2019 published series that we managed to snag FTFs on. Sunday had us continuing to find the other sets of high-quality caches around the neighbouring town parks, the challenge series, before spending a few hours at geocaching HQ participating in the labs that had been published. The event was also great to see some of the South Australians honoured with geocaching life awards (in amongst everyone on the list). Our final day, Sunday, had us do a big loop finishing off our geocache collection, driving all the way out to Kooreh and around via Stuart Mill, walking the conservation park at Mount Gowar, and finishing off at the GIFF event. A massive weekend that turned out to be a great mega! Thanks to all those who organised the Mega and the associated events. The variety between the local high-quality caches, the new series placed by the mega team, and those who needed to be around for the labs and main centre fielding questions was appreciated immensely.

Today with our final day in St Arnaud, we went east and south focusing on some of the *Original Road* series, and the various geocaches that were placed along these routes. Once we did a loop through Stuart Mill, we did a final drive around the town vicinity, performed a hike around Mount Gowar, and then attended the final GIFF event. From there, we went separate ways from e.gregory1 and FeatherWaite, and made our way towards Horsham for the evening. This cache was found along the way as we detoured through the back roads. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. It was good to have found this 12/2005 oldie. Thanks yt2 for placing and maintaining this cache.

After St Arnuad, Freddo, Davidwazza and myself took off for Horsham, we stopped at some caches along the way, all the caches were quick finds and in good order

What a big trip this was! I headed over to St Arnaud for the 2019 Victorian mega with e.gregory1, Davidwazza, Featherwaite and Freddo for the long weekend.
The weekend was filled with a lot of finds ranging in puzzles, a few events and some very well constructed hides around the area.

Day 1: I headed over with e.gregory1 and featherwaite, with the aim to collect some unfound LGAs for the guys, with only a 500km drive to the mega from home we added an extra 450km to the trip by going over to Bendigo and further south exploring some regional towns, overall we added an extra 6 LGAs with only 18 finds for the day. Was great to see some of the interesting little towns and what they had to offer for future visits.

Day 2: As a group we hit the trails in St Arnaud as a group signing the logbooks as DEFF98 (Davidwazza, e.gregory1, Freddo, featherwaite and gridge98) to save a lot of room in the logbook. We started off with the geoart Stars and thought it would take most of the day, as we finished it in 2.5 hours we were a bit surprised so hit the well constructed caches in the south of the town in the bush throwing a CITO in the mix. All the caches were amazing and something you don’t see anywhere else. Adding in 15 FTFs along the way with: everlasting, crank1 and Pwola. The evening settled in and we headed into town for a buffet dinner and a catch up with some familiar faces.

Day 3:
After attending the GV2020 event for the morning we set off to hit the last of the trails left in town of the metal containers, followed by the challenges for the mega as well as quite a few trads around the back roads. We ended the day by having a go at the lab caches at the mega then off to the CITO. I don't think I have ever seen so mant people at a tip before. Topped off the day with an evening event.

Day 4: By today the town was almost cleaned out and only a few caches to find, so we did the last few caches within a rough 15km radius driving around finding the odd cache here and there. The GIFF was finished off the mega so we decided to head to Horsham for the evening.

Day 5: After leaving our camp site for the morning, we cached for the morning around Horsham collecting a few grads and a well earned swim. Then made the long drive back home to Adelaide.

Thanks to all the COs for their cache placements and the Geocaching Victoria crew for organising a fantastic weekend away.

Well this one was a bit hard to do and we found ourselves on the wrong side of the rails. Mark was the sacrificial lamb and was sent to sign the cache and make the find.
Mary's grandmother was born nearby and several family members lived here over the years including Aussie Mary for 3 not so good months.

Day 2 Natimuk to St Arnaud

stopped and worked out some numbers. targetting multis to get my count up for the sfe 500 multi challenge. Multi's take longer, guess it's going to be a late tea tonight. quickish find at gz.found on the 2nd loop of gz.
Came over to the 2019 mega in St Arnaud with Mogni. We where joined by jj52, Aussie M and M plus others at different times over the mega weekend. Many caches where found over the course of the 8 day trip. Targeting multi's on the way there and back plus the challenge trail in Mount Beckworth reserve. The creative trails around St Arnaud where the highlight of the trip.

Suscoe was heading to Bendigo this morning.
We awoke to heavy clouds out to the west and thought we better get a wriggle on if we wanted to find a few caches before the rain arrived.
So in mild temperatures and a blue sky in the east we left Horsham and headed off.
The countryside looks green but a few empty dams highlighted the lack of rain.

Thanks to yt2 for this cache.
A quiet little town which we have seen a few of in this trip.
We confirmed out coordinates with a PAF after reading a few logs.
A pleasant walk to GZ.
All good here today.

This one led me astray, and couldn't seem to find the other plaques 'down the street'. Wasn't sure on my finals, so restored to a PAF which confirmed I had the wrong spot.

Final was a bit of a drive away, took the road beside the railway line then walked over. Nice to visit some space that isn't paddock. Thanks

‘I never had friends later on like I did when I was 12’ Jesus, who does?
Jenno3 and I headed to this part of the world for the day to grab a few caches, listen to great music and have a ripper day! So far we are ticking all the boxes! After working out what we needed back down the road we made our way to gz.
Train tracks, under bridges and out of the way places brings all the usual songs to mind. As we crossed the rails we had the typical Stand by me moments and we carried on with our big girl panties up high!! Soon the cache was signed as replaced and we were on our merry way again. Tftc

Found It!
Had a bit of confusion while answering the questions but eventually I got an answer that wasn't in someone's paddock. Still didn't quite look right but after reading some past logs I decided to go have a look anyway. I took the southern approach and had a nice 400m walk to GZ. And when I got there I quickly spotted the cache! Great little spot!

With time to spare I decided to take the long way home to Ballarat from Horsham. A nice simple multi here but it took me to the back of beyond and after crossing train tracks and a fence I was hopeful of a quick find. Phew! Well off the track for this one! Nice final GZ though and a cute little town. Many thanks for the cache.

16-Apr-17
Heading back to Warrnambool from Warracknabeal on Easter Sunday afternoon. I stopped by here to have a go at this multi. I found it confusing at first until I eventually realised I was looking at the wrong plaques (near WP1). Once I found the correct plaques further up the street I had no trouble getting a good set of coordinates. I headed to GZ, parked the car, crossed the tracks (fortunately no trains coming) and soon found the cache and added my name to the log. Thanks yt2 for the local history and cache.

19-Aug-16
This small community certainly takes pride in remembering those from the district who have served their country, Data collection for this multi was straightforward. Then it was off to GZ and this was more challenging: walking across a railway bridge and scaling a fence were required to get to GZ. Once there, a short search led to the cache being in hand. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks yt2 for and interesting multi and for the cache.

29-May-16
Locus got us to GZ, but there were a few hairy moments on the dirt tracks (I was ultra sensitive due to our experience on Friday night), but on the way out we found a sealed road which would have been a much easier route to the cache also.

We jumped the fence, got to the cache and signed the log.

Day 3 of 3 - Found whilst on a road trip with CPwanderer and Locus Cache from Adelaide to Wedderburn, Victoria. The aim of the trip was to attend "A Day Out in Wedderburn 2016" all day caching event (TICK [^] ) and then enjoy the Evening Meal event (TICK [^] ).

During this weekend we found some fun and creative caches and caught up with our Victorian geofriends once again.

The funny one-liner comments flowed all weekend and my belly hurt from all of the laughter!! [:o)] RazzWinkBig Grin [^].

Unfortunately we had a minor car accident Friday night whilst traveling to Wedderburn [B)] - lost control of the vehicle (fortunately we were traveling very slowly) and we got bogged on a wet and slippery Victorian country dirt road [xx(] ...ummmm.....at the time we may have been heading toward a possible gold Red Face which we missed Sad, however we did eventually get out of the mud Smile after a long wait and exchanging a fair bit of cash [:(!].

I LOVE geocaching [:X], but I HATE mud [:(!]!! LOL

Thanks for the cache Smile

Day 3 of the roadtrip with GoodLook and CPwanderer to attend the A Day Out in Wedderburn event Cool We left early to head for home and so we didn't attend breakfast Sad Next Year! [^]
Driving home involves a long drive and lots of caches and all up, between the first cache find at 8.38am and the last cache find at 00.36am the following day I found Smile 36 caches and only had 1 DNF Sad at a cache that we already presumed to be missing Sad
We had a blast finding caches by The Old Blokes around the area and vowed that we Must come back to find more, they are so good! [^]
Muggle partner kindly drove up to meet GoodLook and I at the bottom of the freeway at about 2.30am so that she didn't have to drive for another 2 hours in order to get me home [^]

Unless mentioned otherwise, please know that your cache and log book was in good condition.

It's amazing how on a road trip, tiny places that you would otherwise never get to see become part of the journey Cool
We had an interesting time heading to GZ as Friday night had seen us stuck on a dirt road and of course, Nuvi wanted us on more dirt road than bitumen as we headed to this cache Twisted
Finding a place to park, we walked in towards GZ and CP had a moment where he thought we wouldn't find the cache Surprised
I actually made a PAF call to check that our coords were right and they were because as I was getting a description, I was saying yep, that's where we are [^]
So CP's fear was unfounded and the cache was found Wink

Quickly found when we got to the GZ but our car gps had us going on all sorts of dirt tracks ,,,,, we found the good bitumen road on our way out!! Found with locuscache and Goodlook on a weekend in Victoria. The main aim of the trip was to attend the Old Blokes events in Wedderburn and to grab as many of the caches in the area. We also found quite a few on the way there and the way home and had some “interesting” experiences 4WD ing on some back tracks!

Dr Owl was suggesting a weekend away to tackle some adventurous caches in a disputed area of Mexico and to spend some quality time with Muff1. Who was I to say no! Extensive use was made of the Muffmobile and Mrs Muff came along for the ride and to poke fun at our caching efforts.

Jung is an interesting little town. A fun walk to the cache but even funnier when Mrs Muff took a close look at the squirty plant and jumped!!

Thanks for the cache yt2.

Owl and Sushilord were on an extended weekend caching adventure. They cachenapped Mrs Muff1 and headed to Horsham to hunt out and destroy little green boxes. Or yellow ones. Someone else had done all the hard work for this cache, so Owl just joined them on the pleasant stroll to the cache. Watch out for the squirty plants - Sushilord detected them, but it was Mrs Muff who really got attacked by them.

Another nice little multi, in a spot less travelled...
We had some debate as to whether we could make this a driveby, as the GPSr map had a track going past. We decided against driving across the trainline and walked through yet another very dry area with no water.
Found cache easily with good co-ords too.

After all the rain of yesterday we were a bit nervous heading out into the rural areas, not being sure which roads would be 'Dry Weather Only' but we managed to find most caches without any problems a few we had to find another road in but all was achieved.

Find # 1777

Being such a good day I decided to head over Horsham way to grab some of the caches in the area so I could turn their icons into smilies.

Last one for the day and it was a doozy. I couldn't find all the required information but having a stab in the dark I worked out a general area only to find I was way off. after checking previous logs and then the terrain and features on the GPS, I worked out where I should be.

2nd location had the goods, but as previous cacher has said, this cache is in desperate need of love as the cache is cracked both lid and base. and all the goods are all moldy.

Thanks for the look around a town I wouldn't visit if it wasn't for the Cache.

Found as we headed to Victoria on a 4 day caching run with Firesafe, Freddo and Honeysucker, was a great trip with lots of interesting scenery on the way, some were previously found by other members of the trip so if we got stuck we could pull the "help me" card and have a hint on its where abouts, we cached until we reached our destination being Mt Buffalo about 1000 Ks from home and set up camp for the night, weather was perfect and i got to see some very interesting cache hides, got to finally sleep in a swag which was interesting and extremely comfortable, a big thank you to all that hid caches for us to find on our journey and look forward to one day returning to Victoria to cache this beautiful state. Found this one after battling cold, wind and rain. This really should have more than 2 starts D/T. Cache was completely wet inside and log book was unsignable. Looks like a new fence may have gone up recently that makes it difficult to approach the cache. We just barely missed the afternoon train also. Beautiful area... T4T$!!!

Fun visit to Jung at dusk to an infrequently visited cache, however...

31-Aug-13
We come to Horsham a few times a year and like to find some caches while here. This stood out as a cache that needed to be found and we were keen to visit Jung. The fact that our friend Spladem didn't find it was added incentive. Soon found all the answers and were heading out to the final coordinates. A short walk and we knew we were in about the right area because of the nature of the vegetation. It took a while to find the cache and sadly the lid is perished and the cache is full of green slimy water. Having said that, it's a great little cache and as the CO says would be be a fun thing to do after visiting the Jung market.

We found this cache a couple of days ago. The local war memorial has just been renovated and unveiled yesterday. Plaques with a list of the soldiers for one of the questions and other numbers u may need can be found on a building just further up the road on the opposite side. When we visited a couple of days ago the new memorial did not list the soldiers names etc.

We came, we found, we conquered!!! We agree plenty of ouch around GZ. We r so happy we found this one after its been such a long time since last find. Heaps of wildlife around, nice quiet spot. Thanks for bringing us here. After growing up close by I'd never actually come into the Jung township.

No luck here, the main sign on the corner was MIA.. I reduced the GZ down to a section approx 50m long however with a muggle gardner pottering aroudn in his backyard and no bridge in sight.. I wondered if I'd guessed right..

We used to come to Jung for the markets here and there, my geoteen was apart of the scouts who helped out at the markets and sold raffle tickets the whole day. We haven't been back for about... 5 years. It was such a site to see the creek full of water! It was amazing! One notice, the plarque has been removed at the co-ordinents but you can find the same list of soldiers just up the road on the right hand side.

Geocousin Ollie found this cache, making it #4 of the day. Enjoyed a walk along the train tracks, and not surprised about the prickles around. That was always common for this area. TNLN. TFTC.

Had to find this cache!!
I've heard stories about this pub a few times, but mostly about the stables out the back. My mother grew up in the house that adjoins the park - my grandfather was born in the town and only moved into Horsham a few years ago.
Had to climb the Peppercorn Tree for old times sake! Razz
It was great to see water in the creek - something Mrsbogan and the minibogans have never seen - but a shame that the whole town is so run down Sad
Took the Cruiserdude Geocoin to continue it's journey.
Thanks for bringing us back here.

Had to visit Murtoa for work in the morning, But being a Saturday I thought I'd mosey home and visit a couple of caches on the way. I'm struck, and sadened, as I drive around regional Victoria at how small communities are declining. Often I drive through these places and although I try to take back roads as much as possible there are some places that you just never visit but really think you ought to have. So it was great to have the oppurtunity to visit Jung, especially as it fits the bill of the declining communinity. I say great as it offers such a vivid picture of what it used to be. To just drive through here and not stop you'd never know that there used to be a pub or a good sized manufacturing works or that it once had a population big enough to send so many young blokes to WWII. Most of us can only imagine now what active places these used to be.

Anyways, I nearly gave up when I thought they'd taken away the plaques where the relevant information was meant to come from . However I quickly found that the locals are are preparing to move them and that they are still easily found in the proper spot. With the coords in hand I headed off toward the cache. And lo it was Jung Market Day. So in despite of what I just wrote I was really chuffed to see such a big and busy market here. I initialy thought the market would supply many muggles as obstacles but it didn't and GZ was free of interuptions.

I was particularly delighted that a grain train passed by me as I headed off to GZ and the Overland to Adelaide passed the other way on my way back the the car. A busy day in Jung after all.

Thanks yt2 fro showing me your hometown.

This was the last cache for the day for me on my way back from Adelaide. I enjoyed visiting this lovely little town and seeing the history it offered. After grabbing the required info we headed off to GZ where I took a strole and Amy kept dry in the car. The good sized cache was found after a short search and I got out of there before I encountered any snakes.

Thanks very much for the cache and tour of the town.

A little town that I would never have known about if it wasn't for.....

It was raining when I got there but happily I could get the required from in the car. I found AA ambiguous so took both alternatives. At gz I opted to walk the last 200m and with an umbrella searched the likely spot to no avail. I then added on the extra from the ambiguity, which had me very nearby, and quickly found the cache.

Thank you yt2 for the break and the cache.

Found at 12.20pm GAFF3. It was interesting exploring this little town. We were amazed at the no. of same family casualties - thought it was not to happen in the second WW after what happened in WW1!
When we got to GZ we were all over the place and had a bit of trouble locating the right spot - as it turned out we should have trusted the GPS in the first place. Took: Illuminating party stick, Left: Rooster figurine.
Thanks YT2

Just a quick multi she said. Meanwhile, 1hr later, we were back on the road again! Our calculated coords were a bit out, but we found it in the end. TNLN. Thanks for bringing us to this cute little town and environs. Today they were busy digging trenches around the park.

What a quiet little town this one is. I felt very conspicuous driving into town and as others before me have done, read the plaque, Honoured the dead and then headed off in the dust to gz. Managed to avoid prickles okay too. Thanks y2t.

Like previous searchers we made an educated guess when doing our calculations and proceeded to GZ with a couple of options!
Max was particularly interested in the Ackland history as he had experience with their implements on the family farm!
In: A Picture Frame.
Out: Pliers.
Thanks yt2.

Sixth cache for the day on my trip around the Wimmera I found the cache at 16:00. We were staying at friends in Rupanyup for the weekend as we were attending there daughters 18th birthday party so I could not pass up the opportunity of doing a few caches. I arrived at the listed coordinates and soon had some of the numbers but I could not find the plagues I was looking for brass plaques, I gave Muzza a call and he helped me out I soon found the concrete plaques mounted on the front of the building and made my way to GZ where I soon had the cache in hand. I have been to the local market before. Thanks yt2 for the cache.

We got off to a little bit of a slow start at WPT1 but after a short tour we found the required information. Did the required maths and headed off to find gz. Once again a couple of false starts before we managed to drive within 170 metres. We really enjoyed the walk to gz among some extremely large red gums past an interesting structure where the remains of the previous one indicated a lot more use than there is today. Luckily the cache was able to be retrieved without too many injuries
Took Lens Cleaner
Left Belt Utility Bag
Thanks LY2 for a tour of your town

I think I misinterpretted one of the questions, but wrote down both possibilities. Once at my calculated GZ, I looked around for a few minutes, then went with the alternate co-ordinates (only about 10 metres away). I then found it instantly.

No exchange was made. Thanks for showing me this sleepy little hollow, and for the cache.

[Arrived at this sleepy town early and no one was up. Did the maths , and headed off - found shortly after.] Cache protected by one of many prickly shrubs - Ouch![ Left bike light , took bike lock.]
