Probably not the best conditions to be wandering the beach yesterday but hubby and I scramble down to have a look. Scrambling across the rocks to the GZ we tried to be quick as the water was coming in. Nearing the GZ, sadly, there was a huge cow that had died on the beach. We think it had fallen over the cliff poor thing. Don't think it's been there long but it does really stink. Hubby couldn't take the smell but I pressed on to look for the cache. Sadly no luck for me on this one.

23-May-21
2nd attempt at this one. After a hint from a previous finder, we thought we’d have another go. Still no luck GZ puts us in the middle of rocks between bank and water line!
Not sure if it’s been muggled or washed away suggesting a CO check for this one.
Happy caching and safe travels!

23-May-21
2nd attempt to find and even with details from previous finder was still unable to find. Best for a CO check I think!
Cheers

After looking under what seemed every rock and every bush we have not had any success. Looked back through the logs but didn’t give us much help!

After contemplating on if I should go out and find this cache after a couple people told me they couldn’t find it, today I made this the goal of the day! Fortunately for me the cache wasn’t placed back correctly so it was a lot easier to find, I placed it back in it’s spot for the next lucky person to come along and find it! Thank you so much for the cache it’s a great location with wicked views!

Well it’s 2021 and I have finally said good bye to a not so great 2020 and it was great to finally be able to have a reasonable holiday as I have not had a decent break since 2019.
Made to South Australia and finally crossing the boarder and then being greeted by a couple of very friendly SA police offices for which i had the official paper work to allow me to enter.
After making my way west along the Eyre Hwy I went as far as Penong and the Eyre Hwy which I have not travelled along since the late 70’s when I was on a holiday with my folks and this was the last holiday before I started full time work as a sparkie and finding a few caches as I go.
Geocaching when towing a van is not always easy and I have to be a bit selective on which ones I decide to try and find for safe parking purposes especially along busy highways.
So after leaving Coffin Bay my next destination is Port Lincoln which is down the bottom of Eyre Peninsular off the Flinders Hwy.
I’m hoping for better weather soon I don’t mind it being cool just not rain showers when you are out and about.
Another new day in Port Lincoln and it is time to relocate the van and head down to the National Park so I got up early packed up and headed off.
So after setting up the van at Surfleet Campground it was time to explore the South West area and the weather is finally looking good.
Turned left out of the NP and was looking forward to where this road was going to take me.
Getting near the end of the road and the conditions road conditions changed slightly to get down to the last carpark.
Stopped at all of the viewing spots in to here and there is some spectacular coastline along here and the water is so blue so plenty of pics were taken.
A nice stroll along the beach and I will admit that this one took a bit longer to spot and I was not going to give up on it.
I eventually spotted the sneaky hide and a high five was given to wind for the effort.
Inseam to be following ozmilo around from a couple of days ago as I keep spotting his mark in the logs.
A fav goes out to you for bringing me here to such a wonderful spot and the effort of finding the cache.
Thanks diesel69 TFTC.

On a road trip around the Mid North and Eyre Peninsula, geocaching as I go. Predominantly targeting old caches, solved mysteries and grabbing some interesting looking traditionals.

Difficult hide given GZ. Spent 20 mins searching before I finally spotted it.

After the find I wandered along the cliffs for some photos.

Challenging hide and a stunning location- worthy of a favourite point.

Thanks for the cache diesel69.

Did this one all wrong [B)].
Stopped in the parking area and spotted a lonely pine in the general direction of the cache; so that's where we headed Smile. Once there, found that GZ was over the edge - only one thing for it and over we went Razz.
Searched for quite some time before spotting a familiar container [8].
TNLNSL.
Thanks for another one Diesel69.

Sadly geocaching has slumped to 2 DNF today but the whale watching is superb with mother and calf playing offshore ️

12-Feb-20
Yay, so glad we were adventuress enough to negotiate our way down to the beautiful beach. Loved the cliff formations. Cache is in good condition and GZ was correct. More geoseekers should give this one a go. The views if the coastline from the lookout on the way are spectacular.

29-Dec-19
Spent 20min with three sets of eyes looking not located. Still a beautiful spot

Hi there diesel69.

This is the 1st of 1 caches we didn't find today. Twisted[:(!]

We spent quite some time here at around 11:39:00 AM, but we just couldn't locate your cache. It's either not there, a very clever hide or we are just suffering from "cache blindness", so here's a DNF from us. Twisted

Regards
Ian and Penny

Tftc. Looks like the cache had been dislodged from its original place, the log is also water damaged. I replaced in what looks to be the original position. I did not sign the log due to it being damp.

Nice walk at night

26-Sep-14
I arrived at the end of the road and strolled off into the badly eroded scenery.
I am sure that all this damage to the hillsides have been caused by man.
Nature would have covered this landscape with heath and scrub to protect the shoreline [:o]

I arrived on the beach and strolled.
Oh very nice !!
Lots of surf action happening today, but no surfers.

And there at the end of me stroll were the piles of refuse washed overboard from fishing boats Sad
I ignored them and looked for a cache instead.
Hey !! There's one Smile

TFTC and delightful stroll along a not very well cared for stretch of our precious coastline !!

05-Sep-14
A nice day for a walk along the white sand and a bit of rock hopping.
Once there an easy find was made.
We do wish those damn fish would stop throwing all their rubbish out for it to wash up on our beaches though!!!!! A geocacher with a rubbish bag would have a field day here.
Alas for us there was no genie in the bottle we found and opened.
Thanks.

17-Aug-14

02-Feb-14
We have returned from Canada to discover a few more Australian caches! What a great way to explore the "land down under."
Chatted with some locals on their way to catch some surf. Then enjoyed a stroll on the beach for a quick find.
Thanks for the fun diesel69!

08-Dec-13
A clever little find Smile wondering how all the birds on the beach had died?! Thanks for the cache

15-Nov-13
Went to rescue the lonely travel bug, I didn't log it last time.
The beach is called Lone Pine because there used to be one Norfolk pine growing here, but some idiot cut it down.

06-Oct-13

didnt see the pine but did find the cache
Found on a 4wd trip to Port Lincoln with Firesafe and barramundi and gasamalu

26-Oct-11
Saw a pine up on the hill whilst we took the short stroll along the beach. After a full day spent exploring Whalers Way we were starting to get a bit worn out and after this cache we called it a day.

26-Oct-11
Spent the day driving Whalers Way, saw some seals, climbed some rocks and of course grabbed a few caches as well

Nice stroll on the beach. TFTC. Big Grin

22-Oct-11
An easy find once I headed in the right direction. The cache is slightly damp inside - needs some time in the sun (which was not there today). No swaps, SL. Thanks to diesel69 for the cache.

08-Oct-11
Found during an entertaining day of caching south of Port Lincoln. Enjoyed the walk along this very scenic beach. Thanks for the cache diesel69!

24-May-11
This was my favourite cache of the day.
Brought back happy memories of my geo hubby who passed away a month ago.
The rougher the seas and stronger the wind the more he loved the hunt for caches.
Out caching with The X-Trailers.

Our last for the day before heading home for a BBQ dinner Razz
Nice stroll along the beach to GZ and a quick find.

03-Mar-11
Parked the Geo-camper within 200m then a brief walk to GZ accompanied by the sound of sea-birds and rollers brought us to our goal. GPS was a bit out and a wider search was needed.

14-Nov-10
Had a the beach to ourselves apart from an Easter Island look-a-like. Sad to see some dead mutton birds. Obvioulsy battered by the storms on their migration.
Great beach.

30-Oct-10
Great to get a stroll in the very fresh breeze. Astro was nearly buried at Lone Pine.

30-Oct-10

Was it the pollen from the lone pine that was making me cough and splutter? I nearly didn't make it. But I did. Clear skies.

14-Apr-10
Took scooby doo and left purple plastic head thing.....

Number 18 for day one of our Easter Mega-cache Hunt

Very very windy and wet today, the road towards the cache is in the middle of being repaired and it seemed to be a long way to walk in such nasty weather, we'll be back another time.

01-Jan-09
Didnt find this one looked everywhere will try again soon beautiful beach

08-Oct-08
Went along the cliff first, then along the beach. But the spot we wanted to look was swarming with very aggressive insects, almost like sand flies on steroids. It was some sort of nest. So not for us today.

Thanks for bringing us here anyway

24-Nov-07
Second last cache of 12 in my Lincoln National Park day. A nice quick find after a short but enjoyable walk along the beach. Picked up TB Geo-Fish. My thanks again to diesel69.

PS- The cache is still nicely tucked away when we found it.

15-Oct-06
While some of us "slower, more cautious" ones were contemplating the descent, others of the Collinsmob & goldrushers were racing like mad idiots to this hidden spot. Was a draw I think!!

15-Oct-06
We have never actually walked on this beach before, lovely spot. There was a race along the beach with the Goldrushes and I hate to admit also some GPSless muggles who had also come along for the ride! I think they now plan to buy a GPS and also get involved!

01-Aug-06

Parked our cars on the edge of the cliffs, and wandered over whilst our boys played by the waters edge. Cache had been flushed out in the open again, we placed it close by surrounded by some rocks. You may want to check it out Diese69.

Thanks for the Cache. Cheers from The barramundi's

23-Apr-06
An easy walk down and across the beach, as i drove over the last hill i couldn't see any more track. Good thing I stopped, I got some great shots of my car.
Thanks diesel69

15-Apr-06
An easy find as the cache was sitting out on the rocks. Took stubby holder and added an ocky strap. Replaced container where it probably came from and added a rock to keep it in place.

Will have to add two new quotes to the list of old jungle sayings. First, " Always trust your GPS." The cache was less than two metres from the GZ as indicated last week and today. Second, "Trust Diesel's terrain ratings." Only after I had scrambled all over the cliff face gathering more prickles along the way did i begin a logical spiral out from the GZ. There it was, and as with "a Whale of a tale," I am sure I had looked there already. Took TB, left a packet of Australian stamps.I should have brought some bigger swaps, because they wouldn't fit in Flinders which I visited later, where I was going to put them.

11-Mar-06
Yeah! yeah! Diesel makes this sound like a pristine paradise doen't he. And it is. Its what's left unsaid which contains the sting. While there was a large room for error showing on my Gps., it consistently put me in a likely location. It was a beautiful, if somewhat hot, Saturday afternoon, with only a couple of surfers about,so i was able to take my time. It did look as if someone else had been scrambling around the GZ but it looks even worse now.A hint to future searchers, take a pair of gloves. I spent the evening extricating thorns from my hands. I think I looked under every bush but it is possible I was blinded by the pain, or the sweat running down my brow (Long trench coats are not really the go in 35 degree heat.)Finally the surfers came close enough to observe my antics so I cut my losses. I will have another look next time, and widen the search area a little, but I fear this could develop into a saga for me, like that of Diesel's nearby cache, "Whale of a tale" Thanks for the challenge Diesel. I will return! On checking the cache size. I don't think it could have been in the area I was searching so hopefully a wider search will reveal all.
