Cache future under review due to ill health. Emailed ZG in regard to this.

25-Jun-12
Unfortunately as I will no longer be working in the area I could not now easily maintain this if I installed it now on his behalf or as a new cache of my own, and sadly the owner is no longer able to look after it either.
Hopefully someone else might want to put a cache here, it deserves one.
Thanks to the present owner for having placed and maintained the cache as long as was practicable.

29-May-12
This originally came up as a note, should have been needs archived so reposting so it gets the proper attention- sorry about that:
No action on this and as this is in an area where caching space is at a premium this needs to be either restored, or if not archived so that the space is available for others to use.

If the owner can get a replacement cache to me I currently work a short distance away (this will be changing but not for a month or so) so I would be happy to install it if required.

The plaque and sculpture, (not to mention the model!) from an unusual angle http://www.stuff.co.nz/dominion-post/capital-life/6766730/Model-mayhem-on-Lambton-Quay

24-Feb-12
I work just down the road so will check shortly (if muggles permit) and submit needs maintenance if required.

23-Feb-12
Had good look and will check again it's less busy but I couldn't find and no one has found it in over 6 weeks

23-Feb-12
Checked three of the possibles, not there, could not check the fourth possible as there was a muggle in the way but as that is the furthest distant most unlikely to be there. I was pretty confident from the earlier logs that it had probably been muggled. Will take a look at option 4 just in case later on if the coast is clear but I think it is safe to assume the cache has gone.
(Owner has been in touch with me and confirmed that it would help if I checked as he is unable to attend this week.)

23-Feb-12
Disabled until container replaced. Thanks to all concerned. Cheers, GC.

06-Feb-12
Met up with Spider-Bite who was also looking, being a holiday it was quite quiet but neither of us could find it. Noticed is hasn't been logged for 5 weeks

03-Jan-12
Nice cache. Found eventually. I think it's in the wrong place. Not exactly in front of the plaque. Persevere and you'll find it. TFTC.

03-Jan-12
Think it's slightly off the original marker. TFTC

25-Dec-11
Found with some help from my friends. Even though it was Christmas Day, a few muggles about in the city. TFTC.
Changed date found to the correct date.

11-Dec-11
I arrived off the cruise ship The Radiance of The Seas which explains quite a few muggles around for a Sunday. I couldn't get to this one with gps issues at first but then after reading I was so close...but had to retreat without blowing my cover infront of the lovebirds who should have rented a room. Thanks though for your efforts in maintaining this cache, if I get to make it back from Oz in a while I would like another try.

10-Dec-11
Get out and find some caches at lunchtime was the instruction.
Off I went to admire the artworks, do the projections and was able to spot it from afar. Needed to wait till the coast was clear.
Thanks for the tour.
Cheers TT

26-Nov-11
Found in the wee hours of the morning (very few muggles around)... Woulda been tricky at busier times! No pencil in cache and din't have any with me so unable to sign log.

19-Nov-11
An early Saturday morning walk meant I didn't have to cope with the crowds that must be around this place at other times. GPS struggled with the terrain but a reading of a few logs and the cache listing gave me a few ideas about where to look. As per one of the previous logs, I think that the cache might now be on the wrong feature but I left it where I found it. TFTC, Biggles.

18-Nov-11
Found it

20-Oct-11
Nice city artwork. Lot's of muggles though, better come early or come late.

30-Sep-11
Over from South Australia to watch rugby, cache, do some tourist things, and visit my sister and Mum at Upper Hutt (I was raised in Nelson.)
Today we did the touristy stuff around Welly - cable car to top - great views today - great weather for it!
One seat over from one I thought it should be, but I put it back where it was found.

a quick find for Mum, Dad and the kids while out at lunch. Very handy having 4yo shoe lace come undone and require doing up while sitting down. Thanks

15-Jul-11
Working in NZ i managed to get away for a few hours and find a cache. Went up the cable car only to be surrounded by muggles and unable to locate two caches there before the sun went down. So I went after this one. The GPS wouldnt work great so I headed in the rough area looking for another piece of artwork. The night was so busy with muggles everywhere. I pretended to drop some coin and as i leant down I saw it....took a seat and with a quick arm movement i had the cache in hand. Wrote on it and replaced in a matter of minutes and the muggles were none the wiser! My first cache in such a high muggle area.

TFTC!!

09-Jul-11
I work about half a minute down the road from here, but never bothered to actually collect it as it is usually quite busy. Today wasn't a problem, and I get to be the first to sign the new log. TFTC.

03-Jul-11
Added a bigger magnet to container... All good again... Thanks for finding my cache (those who really did...) and Thanks (I 'spose) to those who have logged a find despite not actually finding the cache - and 'you' know who you are...

Cheers, GC.

29-Jun-11
18:00 No container at GZ so replaced with a spare, but advertised 'rare earth' magnets useless on painted surface. Teach me to buy ready-made caching containers...

05-May-11
No problem. I suspected where GZ was before confirming at first coordinates. TFTC

fitzy_1965 and I visited NZ over the Easter Long Weekend on a caching run. We were here in early January this year for a holiday and a caching run. Then I won Business Class return flights to Auckland on Emirates (the flight was awesome by the way) so we're back!

We're in Wellington today. A nice little multi kept us momentarily busy. TFTC!

3749 + 123 = 3872. ACBC 66 and I visited NZ over the Easter Long Weekend on a Caching run. After completing the 101 Dalmations Power Trail and the Mangere Wastewater Trail of Power, we headed south caching along the way down to Wellington.

A day in Wellington - and it was time to do some caches around my hotel. This little Multi was quite nice to do on a relatively quiet morning in the City. Thanks GenCuster !

TNLN - TFTC !!

Cheers....

22-Apr-11
Have come for this one previously but there were too many muggles for a decent search. A nice quiet evening meant a quick find this time round. The log is very wet but just managed to jot down my log - I suspect a bag may be needed. TFTC!

05-Apr-11
GPS all over the place, with even the bearing not making sense, but apply a bit of logic and local knowledge and it was an easy find. Damp day kept most muggles at bay for an easy retrieve. Thanks.

28-Mar-11
Found fairly easily using a bit of intuition to locate GZ. Had to sit out a few muggles before retrieving cache. First to sign the replacement log! TFTC

05-Mar-11
11:30 New log. Paper. Please bring own writing instrument as there is no room in the cache for this or any swaps. Cheers, GC

14-Feb-11
This was fun with the GPS being pretty unsure about where WP1 was, but a few visits along with help using Google maps helped me to work out where the final location was, which was an easy retrival during a rain shower (meaning muggles weren't around too much).

11-Feb-11
Wow - a real muggle central, but the clue was spot on. Thanks for the incite of these rather large art items. Oh - by the way the log is full and is being written on temporary sheet.

03-Feb-11
Papa's meeting finished early so time to have a quick walk down Lambton Quay. Quick find and sign of temporary log after a muggle vacated the seat. Salamat!

28-Jan-11
Found while walking back to the office. Nice hide Smile

27-Jan-11
New log should be in 31 Jan 2011. Cheers, GC.

27-Jan-11
A good challenge to discreetly remove and return.

27-Jan-11
Managed to extract and return it to its hiding place discreetly on a busy Wellington morning. Log is full so I put in a small piece of paper in the interim. TFTC.

24-Jan-11
A good day in the rain to do some innercity caches as people were indoors.

21-Jan-11
Found on my way to work this morning. The log is full and needs to be replaced. TFTC

16-Jan-11
Needs a fresh log

13-Jan-11
My first projection after reading the GPSr manual Smile
Guessed where it would be, but had to wait a long time for two teenage muggles to move along.
TFTH #190

11-Jan-11
Had looked for this one in the past quite some time ago but too many muggles around. Found it at lunch time today without much hassle. Can see the final location from work.

09-Jan-11
On our trip through New Zealand we found this cache. Thanks for bringing us around in the city. Very well thought-out cache. TFTC!

28-Dec-10
Filled in time waiting for delayed ferry

18-Dec-10
It was really busy here today, but after some patient waiting successfully retrieved. Thanks for a multi!

30-Nov-10
Took a while to achieve but managed to do this while surrounded by muggles on their way home. TFTC

25-Nov-10
[354] They don't come much busier than this, especially during a sunny lunchtime hunt! Found no probs and used the ol' tie the shoelaces to locate and retrieve - SL then returned cleanly and off I tootled with thousands of muggles none the wiser Wink T4TC GC!

23-Oct-10
Worked out likely spot during last visit to Wellington, but way too busy to retrieve. Easy find late at night. TFTC

10-Oct-10
FlyingPigSquadron has landed!
Last cache before we head off to South Island TFTC&H

18-Sep-10
Signal no good, but quickly worked out where to look then came the wait for the all clear.

TFTC

The first sculpture did not impress me too much, but the second one is quite nice. We actually have a similar one where I come from (there is even a cache for that: http://coord.info/GC11BBZ) but the execution here is much much better. Really nice to watch.

Thanks for the cache here!

02-Sep-10
Wellington does have tremendous public art and these two are lovely examples. There even seem to be new pieces since I was last here like those crumbled spheres by Te Papa. When I first went by to solve the multi it seemed all of Wellington were going home but an hour and a half later in the dark was much calmer. Nice multi. NINO TFTC

Nice and easy!!!

24-Jul-10
I really like Wellington's public art! I ended up in the wrong place at first, but recalculated and ended up spot on. You need to be sly to get this one out unnoticed. TFTC Smile

21-Jul-10
Worked well for us looking later in the evening, when less foot traffic and dark. This was a fun one. Ta.

20-Jul-10
WOW! Sneaky! TFTC

20-Jul-10
Haha! Nice. Thanks Smile

A neat cache, thanks.

24-Jun-10
After a meeting in town pulled out the information on local caches and found this one only a few meters away. At the artwork, peered upwards to gain inspiration from the sun to where north is (bit difficult on a cloudy day), then proceeded down the required bearing to find the artwork of the cache. A quick find after taking the weight off to read the artworks plaque. TFTC

07-Jun-10
Nailed this one on a wet holiday weekend. T4tc

29-Apr-10
Easy find. Signed log. TFTC!

22-Apr-10
After some business at parliament, and a nice lunch nearby (and then a total power grid melt down) we found this one. Nice and quick despite the place crawling with muggles. TFTC!!! Big Grin

11-Mar-10
Short detour after a fashion show on a rainy night in town. Quiet GZ as the rain melted the muggles. TFTCSL

22-Feb-10
Great find!

01-Feb-10
Wondered off viewing some other art after dinner and eventually followed my nose to the GZ. Easy find with little foot traffic at night. TFTC

28-Jan-10
Picked this one up on the second try, a little bit after a job interview [crosses fingers]. Many thanks for your help, GenCuster (and for the cache of course.)

19-Jan-10
Second find of the day - and both multis (cache type is a first for me).
On a lesser note, FTSL. And solving the offset involved my first self-projected bearing on Google Earth.

17-Jan-10
23:55 New Log sheet. Cache had been moved to another bench. Moved back to correct location - 'sit down & read the plaque'

13-Jan-10
[Gah! There's something about] park benches [ that means I never find the cache. Will try again sometime with a compass to make sure that I'm in the right place instead of guessing the bearing.]

09-Jan-10
Easy one, TFTC

25-Dec-09
Quickly found it. TFTC MacBanger

13-Dec-09
Last time a DNF, found with ease today- too much so as I could see it from several metres down the street! (Either it wasn't there last time or approaching from a different angle helped.)

The last instruction in the main text re what to do seems to indicate that maybe this has been moved slightly at some stage, still sort of figures though not as good a fit, that it is what had me looking slightly in the wrong place last time.

Log only has 4 spaces left and has had several visits in the last few days (most of them not logged online (yet?)) so may run out- needs replacing ASAP please.

Replaced in basically the same spot but a little less obviously. Nearly got muggled by a work colleague- I was acting very suspiciously having replaced the cache and was checking that it was less visible from a distance, I think she is still wondering what I was up to Smile

SL.

Know this place well but can't find the cache!

Found the place which seems to fit the clue but no success. Seems from the log I am not the first to be in that situation.

As it was located only a few days ago hopefully it hasn't been muggled, but maybe it's just too well hidden for a novice like me Wink Not far from my work but too muggle intensive during the working day or even early evenings to look hard. Thought I might find a chance for a better search on Sunday but still too many muggles.. Ah well logged three other ones today which are muggle intensive during the week, so some compensation!

Date entered incorrectly originally owing to this site being on a different timezone, now fixed.

06-Dec-09
Nice artwork

22-Nov-09
Of course it was in the last location we checked. No problems with the cache, not a lot of muggles around. And Rumo's shoes needed tying anyway.

13-Nov-09
I was having a nice night introducing a friend to this city , and to geocaching ... went with her while she went to find this one , I had found it several weeks ago , but sadly the finaal cache is missing ( moved, muggled?
) can someone have a look?

07-Nov-09
Good cache. Right across the road from my apartment. TFTC SL.

27-Oct-09
Found with tmann421. Wellington southerly blowing in Lambton Quay so it was a bit cold, but that only meant that the muggles were more interested in getting where they were going than wondering what the two hillbillies were doing. SL, TFTC.

27-Oct-09
A bit of a challenge getting good GPS reception, but fairly easy find of cache with the hint. SL TFTC

05-Oct-09
Got to caught up in the whole pool thing haha..
after much frustration... stumbled upon it...
Cheers

29-Sep-09
What a spot. Easy to do over night when there are less people around. TFTC

29-Sep-09
Found on the way home from quiz night Smile Nice Smile

29-Sep-09
Good one after a few beverages, thx!

26-Sep-09
We solved this one while out walking after dinner. I think most people were heading to, or already at the wearable art awards. Not too many people around. The photo ops were definately great.

25-Sep-09
Easy find as there were limited places where the cache could be hidden. Very strong magnetic - had to get StreetWalker to retrieve it.
TFTC.

25-Sep-09
#916 (7/11 on a wlg afternoon). Easy enough to get to GZ. Luckily Troodles quickly spotted the cache from some distance away. TFTC.

21-Sep-09
Managed to find this during peak time without looking too suspicious. It's amazing that a cache can be in such a public place. TFTC!

11-Sep-09
I love the final piece of artwork, it has always been one of my favourites in Wellington Smile TFTC.

05-Sep-09
As this was my 150th I thought it should be approached appropriately. So reading the instructions carefully I measured out an 80metre length of string and tied that at the start point. Decided 165 degrees true would most likely avoid the oncoming buses and followed the trusty compass until the string was completely unravelled. Wondered why it stopped short and realised I hadn't allowed for the tying bit but still managed a quickish find on a beautiful sunny Saturday afternoon without being spotted. Not surprisingly lots of people asked why I was rolling up a very long piece of string as I retraced my steps so I suggest you don't repeat string ploy or the muggles might get suspicious although you could use wool and take up knitting. TFTCSL Nice artwork.
