With regret I am forced to close this one down as I am not in a position to check it in the near future. Hopefully someone else may seed this interesting spot.
We think the cache may be in that big pile of woodchips. Some work being done around the weir.
The weir is currently closed until Nov/Dec 2020 whilst the weir is being recoated. It is inaccessible whilst the area is closed.
It spent 6mths at my place in Altona Vic. Now back in original position 13/2/20.
Well I think this one has finally bitten the dust - came down last night and in fading light had no luck. Then back today and nothing to be found in the tree at GZ or any within 15 metres - see attached photo (happy to delete if reinstated). A bit sad as an old one and a good place to attract people - just glad I hadn’t made a diversion off the Sturt to get this one (staying here for work)

On our travels from Brisbane down to Mount Buffalo we searched and found som Geocaches. Thanks to all owners for the Caches.
Found - while on a walk to the weir, also got some amazing free limes from outside the shop.
A quick find in this sleepy village. We came here for icecreams and stayed for the cache. Tftc.
Found at 2:35 PM GAFF1.
Love those old names - Daphne, Gwen, Rose - don't hear them any more. It's all Brittany and Jade and Shannon now.
Made a slight detour from our intended route and explored this "town" before heading to the weir to find this 12 yo cache - and boy does it show its age! Looks like it has flooded here and the lid was not on properly, 'cause it had very rusty water inside it.
We actually contemplated camping the night here, but then we thought that there may be a better camps along the side of the river a bit further out of town - and there was [^]

Did the detour to this 1 – the gate was closed – there is a way to walk in – I get the feeling they don’t want anybody to use this area – it’s a shame because it’s a nice area – cache wet – log damp but able to sign – a big thanks - TFTC / TFTH / SL
found it, nice hiding spot! road was closed jumped the fence, nice quick and easy find.
What a shame have to climb over fence into a no go zone to find catche. Log is also wet
Made our way across the fence after asking at the store about entry. So after a short stroll while watching the Pelicans fishing in the river the cache was located .
Signed Very Damp logbook 10:30am and replaced all as found.
1 x TB Visit.

An interesting diversion from my drive down the Sturt highway.

After too many months(even years) of not being able to travel due to health issues, we finally hooked up the van and headed off.
After enjoying the benefits of free camping at the Lyrup Ferry (with power) we continued on, stopping here to admire the view and make a find and sign.
This was our second free camp, on the river a little west of the bridge. Camps book talks of a toilet but it was not serviceable. There are very clean toilets in the town by the institute.
Thanks Alex, now I too know of another way over the Hay Plain.

Removed nothing but added mozzie band, no pen at cache, nice place to visit. Weir full to nearly overflow
Water in cache. We got rid of most, but bit of maintenance maybe needed. It's cold and tonight! But we found it
Found during a 2 night stop over in the caravan park at the pub. I recommend Kat's special stuffed steak at the pub. Thanks Alex for this cache. TNLN
As an alternative across the plains to Mildura, popped out this way from Hay.
Worth a visit to see the lock.
Found it on the 29/3. Mobile app won't let me change the date.

Thank Alex, for another quite old cache. 2006 is getting up there these days for 'well-aged caches'!
I enjoyed my respite in Maude, but didn't partake in the ice-cream. I'll have to save that next time!

Found on the 2012 Tour de Eclipse. Second Alex cache. Great location. Impressed with the amount of water on the weir.

Found on the great Eclipse Trip of 2012 with Freddo.
I visited the shop and purchased a chocolate ice cream. The frog managed to drip more on the hand break than he got in his mouth. It was a warm one at Maude.
A day of caching from West Wyalong - the town just west of Wyalong down the road to Mildura A road trip with a chance to stretch the legs with a cache is a good thing. A day of plastic dinosaurs in caches - it had everything!!
Thanks to alex and clear skies from TeamAstro.

Stopped in here at this fine little weir on a rainy day on our way back to Hay. Tftc
Found this quite easily as it was laying on the ground in full view! Put it back where previous logs indicated it was. TN put a pencil in. This was a very interesting area, loved the weir. Thanks alex
Found this cache at 12:40pm on our way home from being to Menindee Lakes, Mungo N/P and Mildura Country music Festival for 2 weeks and caching as we go. We decided to take a different road across the Hay Plains. This was a delight coming this way.
It was not at the base of a tree on a fence line it has been moved to higher ground. It is up of the ground in a tree. Probably due to all the flood waters that appear to have been running thru the area.
The log and contents were all very very wet, dried out what we could. Have had to put a new log book in and some new goodies.
Thanks for bringing us to Maude.

Found whilst taking a short detour whilst on a 'long' drive to visit family in Rockhampton. The water was flowing fast, the weir hoisted high and the mozzies as large as small birds! TNLNSL, Cheers, R4R
Found with Black Bunny on the homeward leg of of our journey.
We thought we'd try the detour through Maude as a bit of a change from the straight highway. I was glad we did, it was a bit different. We'd been across the Hay plain many, many times, so it was good to see a bit of different scenery. There were birds, trees, lovely scenery, sunshine, and, of course, after all the rain, lot sof standing water. We had a cuppa at GZ, and saw an elusive, lonely brown sheep across the water as well. The dogs enjoyed a stretch. Of course, all that water rushing past made me wish that someone had thought of placing a toilet here.

I was travelling up the Sturt from Robinvale on my way to the Mega Event at Wagga and, even though it looked as though I'd be getting in late, thought the short diversion to Maude would break the trip up a bit. I'm glad I did, as I always like these sorts of spot and have a bit of a fascination with locks and weirs. The cache was nicely concealed, by was a quick find, nonetheless.

Bloody hell I thought these bridges didn't exist anymore, these can be hell on a road bike when you don't expect them.Nice location and it has exposed another side of Hay that I did not know existed......vegetable growing.tftc
When I was a kid I had a chicken named Maude. And others named Mabel and Mary, but not Mildred. They gave us lots of eggs, but in the end they all ended up in the pot.
This was a good time to visit after the recent rain, plenty of water both upstream and down! Easy find, although the coords seemed to be about 10m off. Thanks Alex, another of your interstate caches crossed off !

Found this one as the start of a Murray River adventure. You have to start somewhere!
Didn't get a chance to sign the log book because I was muggled. First by a council worker (who told me all about the 100 Mg / day flow for 100 days as part of an environmental intervalley transfer) and then by a State Water rep. When the council worker pulled out the cigarette paper, I knew I would not get to sign. I had to saunter back over to the cache and cover it up with my foot as I pretended to take photos. It was hidden again when I left.

It would have been a shame to leave this one as a single unfound cache on the radar west of home, so we decided to detour through Maude on our way to Mildura. Glad we did!

Found by Mary & David at 0640. Nobody names their daughter Mary either. Our niece lives in the trendy new suburb of Doreen in Melbourne, and loathes that name too. An early start from Hay for us this morning as we head west for the 'Let's Raid the Food Bowl' Event in Mildura. A lovely spot. Our thanks to Alex.

Isn't the Hay Plain a boring area once you have crossed it a few times on the Sturt
I too always used to love finding new roads across it on my way between Sydney and Adelaide many years ago. But I never made it to Maude [:o]
Sort of quiet out here...but what a strange sound at GZ. The sound of a waterfall nearby [:o]
I wasn't imagining it either
A short search found me the cache safe and sound
TFTC, I left "Maude" geocoin to begin it's travels (have a guess how this coin got it's name)

Max and Roma failed to find this one.
After an initial search at our interpretation of GZ and using the hint, we then widened our search area considerably, still to no avail.
We hope it was just our inability and not that the container has gone AWOL.
However this being our first visit to Maude, we enjoyed the experience.
Thank you alex, for bringing us here.
