Little NLA and Big NLA had some business to attend to in Coolum today so after all that was done we came up here to climb a mountain! It was great to discover this old thing in the bush and we enjoyed the nice rock formations here. Thanks dudes.
Relogging this under individual account, previously a member of Gaz'n'Kab account.
Spent the weekend with Gaz'n'Kab, Captain Terror, and Net88 up North, climbing mountains and camping.
Thanks d.d.dudes!
Thanks d.d.dudes!
We set off with Captain Terror and catscatscats22 after a very enjoyable day up Mt Ninderry, visiting Coolum Beach and with some time to kill, Emu Mountain was the next thing to do We made our way, and knew there was a chance that this cache might still be around. We made the short detour, and in no time at all, Gaz quickly spotted the cache, and passed it around to add the names to the logbook The cache is a little worst for wear, but it is still in place, and ready to be found [^]

A trip to the Sunshine Coast was somewhat planned with Net88, Gaz'n'Kab and catscatscats22. We'd climbed Mount Ninderry, visited Coolum Beach and now just had a bit of time before heading to the campground at Bli Bli. Umm, ideas anyone?
Emu Mountain it is! It was noted there was an active geocache up there and at least this archived effort. May as well check them all out and enjoy the places they take us! It seems this container had seen better days, but I've seen plenty of wet geocaches not at least archived and forced to struggle on.
We left Net to guard the cars while the four of us charged off to the summit. A couple of different maps made sure we were on the right track. Only a little bit of elevation and we were at this one. A read of the geocache page and we descended upon the area. I was busy taking photos of some interesting flora when the geocache was uncovered.
Yep, it's a bit worse for wear, but we don't care. I love old geocaches, I love d.d.dudes geocaches and I loved this mountain. Had there not been a geocache here, I wouldn't have even heard about Emu Mountain, let alone climbed it. And the views are bloody top! A really easy walk with great reward at the top!
Sure enough, we continued to the top for more sight-seeing and photos. Sad that it's mostly gone now, but well worth the visit to the area. Thanks for bringing me here. TFTC d.d.dudes

Found cache hard to find need to replace container it is wet added more logs but they will get wet as therebis no way to keep.them dry
This cache had quite a bit of water. Log was soaking even though it was a new log. I placed the box upside down to keep it drier.

After playing the Where's Wally game down below, I made my way up here, most definitely an easier climb then Mount Coolum. But still not so easy with the humidity, combined with the sun just making it's first appearance of the morning.
Anyway I followed the paths, it looked easy enough to scoot between them, but thought better of it. Soon enough I was at the right spot to leave the path and find the tomb. Sure enough Cache was there albeit missing the logbook. I had a spare log with me so I added it to the container, just a strip, but sure it will suffice for the time being.
TFTC
Now my only wondering is what the actual name or code of the cache is that the coords are contained within this one?

Found it!!! Unfortunately it had a pool of stagnant water sitting in the cache, about an inch deep. So almost everything in it has been ruined. We cleaned it out left it to dry while we went for the bonus cache but we had to throw out log book as it was slimy and mushy. We struggled with the bonus one too, not sure if coordinates where off due to water damage with the ink.
Took trackable as had gone rusty in water. Will replace chain before relocating!
Stunning sunset view well worth the scramble! TFTC

Fun walk with a great view without being too strenuous. Nice clear day today with minimal wind so quite pleasant for winter. . It's been ages since we've been up here - so much more development surrounding.
While the kids went ahead, J and I ducked off the track at the appropriate spot. Ooh there it is!
Took smiley magnet, left sw4 shell & purple butterfly TB.
Enjoyed the rest of the walk and off the find Wally on the way back.

GPS was shaking all over the place but we eventually found the cache and set off for the suprise cache on the top of the mountain.. We saw a snake on the path too so be careful. TFTC
Excellent hike. Fantastic view from the summit. Seven adventurers made the climb and successfully located the cache. TFTC
Nice little climb for a great view of the coast and surrounding area. Thanks for bringing us on this unplanned diversion, now its off to Noosa for lunch. TFTC
Caching trip out with the ladies... I'm in! Nyssaflutterby, Membsec and I headed up to the sunny coast on a mission to collect some caches.
We parked in view of the mountain and prepared for the assault.
The way up wasn't as hard as I was expecting and before we knew it, we were nearing the top.
We took a side trip to locate this cache, spreading out around GZ. I was looking for something specific but it wasn't to be, as the call was made... Found it!
Yippee!

Nyssaflutterby, Angela and Dave and myself decided to have another go at collecting some caches up on the Sunshine Coast. We had some great plans, but we didn't quite achieve everything that we wanted to do but this cache was on our list.
Never been to Emu Mountain before so it was nice to finally meet the mountain, I can say that now that I have climbed it. This is my first real climb for some time as I have a back problem, so before heading up I took some pain killing tablets and crossed my fingers. It is nice to say that I survived the trip.
The area for GZ was spotted quickly but finding the cache took a little longer. I tried to avoid the black stuff. We all spread out and it was so nice to hear Nyssa call out that she had found it.
Thanks d.d.dudes for the fantastic view and for bringing me here.

Even though I went to Coolum High for a bit, I had never climbed Emu mountain. So glad that I got to as the view was great. Found the cache after turning over a bunch of non obvious rocks lol. Thank you for the cache
Booyah Found it! Found with my step-geo twins. This was a really nice walk- not too hard. Not sure what we were looking for with the false tomb reference?
Found this one on our vacation in Australia. Thanks for showing us this place and TFTC.
Approached GZ after a pleasant walk , unfortunate that a recent fire had destroyed a lot of the flora. Searching close to GZ soon had the cache in hand. TFTC SL TNLN . The recent fires has caused some damage to the cache in as much as the zip lock bag was melted to the cache and needs replacing to keep the cache dry.

Found this today after passing the geonomads from a distance. As I walked up to this one I was greeted with a magnificent flock of black cockatoos that let me get within metres of them to get some fantastic photos. Black cockatoos are my most favourite bird ever and I have never been able to get so close to them. I will be coming back to this one( to go to the top of the mountain ) and hope to see these black beauties again. It was great to see that the cache survived the burn off as none of the flora did. I found the cache easy enough ...even though I ended up blacker and dirtier than being at work.
Will be back.
Thanks for the cache, dd dudes
Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

Good walk up the hill to GZ Found the correct tomb and retrieved the cache and signed the log. TFTC d.d.dudes.
TFTC Not too hard to find, nice views. Not a bad effort after climbing Mt Coolum an hour earlier.
A nice short walk to this one and a good view. Have been meaning to walk up the mountain for some time now. A short search for the cache and signed the log book. Thanks d.d.dudes
Found after a short search at GZ. Contemplated the views and tried to decide if we will go to the top of the mountain.TFTC!
Found @ 0900 hrs
I pulled the Geovan up on the side of the road near the school carpark and made my way up towards GZ.
It was a steep little hike that took about 10 min, but the view up the top was very enjoyable and the breeze keep my temperature down.
After a little more huff and puff I had reached GZ and very quickly found the cache.
I signed the log and decided not to continue to the very top of the mountain for the extra surprise. [xx(]

Hike, was good. Interesting to see the fire damage in the area, and noted that there is plenty of fuel for an other. Thanks for bringing us here.
Nice path. Looks cool over the trees where fire has been. Obvious track to the cache. Easy find. Off to 'Wheres Wally's Rock'. TFTC.
Wandered up the mountain after parking the geomobile near the school. I was a bit worried about the state of the cache as there had been alot of burning in the area right up the side of the mountain in one area but fears were ungrounded. Found the prize fairly quickly. TNLNSL TFTC Thanks d.d.dudes
Found 1.00pm
Parked up by the school and walked up the narrow track towards the cache. Lots of burnt areas around but the area around the cache is OK. Quickly spotted a likely area and the cache was soon in hand. Continued up the hill to the trig for some great views.
TNLNSL thanks.

The best walk. Great view. TNLNSL a grass fire came close to GZ but all is well.
Up the hill in the threatening rain, slip slidin away. Cache in hand, signed log and away. TFTC
Found while caching along this bit of coast line.

Really enjoyed this one. A short walk and great views. The volcanic rock was awesome. Thanks for bringing me to a fantastic spot. Definitely a favourite. TFTC.
A nice hike up the hill. One of the team retreived, while the other enjoyed the view as we had overtaken a muggle with two small children in tow.
Found this guy with Fossicking Fossils. We went along the wrong path at one point, trecking across long spear grass, only to find another track leading right to the cache. Awesome place, got some photos. Took St Christopher TB. Left an army man. SL TFTC!
TFTC. Took 2 trackables & Bouncy ball. Left 1 trackable "St Christopher TB" & Hard Rock pin. Vitised with trackables and waz149 to learn about premium caches.
Had to avoid a slow moving muggle looking for whales but he soon moved on and the cache was quickly found and signed. Lovely views on this beautiful clear day. Thanks d.d.dudes
Thanks for the excuse to take another walk up this lovely mountain.

So nice to be taken to places we never knew existed. Found cache with no problem then continued on to the top to find 8 or 9 young people fully equipped to chart the migration of the whales to our waters for their calving - how wonderful. Thank you d.d.dudes for the experience.
Was expecting the walk to be a bit harder, pleasant walk and great views. Didn't manage to find the secret though.. .TFTC.
If theres two tracks I manage to take the wrong one every time but it was worth the walk for the views.
Managed to find the right tomb tho.

No emus here now! a grand spot, visited just before the school muggles were set free from the nearby school.
This one was probably a favourite for the day. I set off and sighed with relief when I realised the terrain was no "Mt Coolum". I made my way to GZ and started the hunt. It took about 10 minutes of searching before I came up with it. The co-ords were a little out for me. The cache was in good condition. Some great views up here. I climbed right up to the top on the way to the nearby cache. TFTC d.d.dudes
Nice easy walk up to this one with the geotoddler in tow So glad there was a shady spot to relax and sign the log though as it sure was muggy today. TNLN Thanks d.d.dudes
A pleasant walk up to then go around in circles for a while until a suspicious pile of rocks found with a cache beneath.

Took the long and difficult way here from Where's Wally's Rock. Found a lovely trail a few meters from the cache that took us back to the car. Found with half of TLJL. TFTC
I came for the trig but grab this cache on the way down. Picked up TB Blankita also. TFTC!
Great walk up, even spotted the next group of madmen (skydivers) jumping. We were the first jumpers of the day! Found after a little bit of searching, great view. TFTC oh left bug
The walk up to GZ was enjoyable then a quick search and the cache was in hand. I then continued on to the summit and was surprised by a guy and gal having a picnic (and maybe a bit more ) just below the trig structure out of the wind. Great views from here in all directions, but I didn't hang around so the couple could continue their picnic in peace. TFTC d.d.dudes
Enjoy the walk up, its very gentle. Cache found quickly and went on to Wally. TFTC
Nice easy climb up the mountain, found cache after five minutes or so searching around the rocks Lovely view!
Soccer game nearby, which means time to try for a couple of local caches. Really enjoyed our walk in this area of coastal heath. Quite a few wildflowers out at present, including the native purple iris. Log at location 2 was a pulpy lump so it's been kidnapped and a replacement installed. Top spot. TFTC d.d.dudes.
W found the first one nice and easy, we had to take a side track to a path way where we had to crawl under a fallen tree and search in a litle cuby spot under some rocks, the cache had cordinents fo a secret one were we wound it on the top edge of the great Emu Moutain 8D
Found on way back to car after Where's Wally. Easy find and great views. Left something I have been trying to get rid of for months. Given to me by the mother in law! Thanks
Nice find. Took Perth mint coin and left Boxing Kangaroo coin as this was such a nice spot. Then because I went to Where's Wally first then to the Trig and then to here I had to retrace some of my steps to find The Secret. Found easily enough right at a spot I had stood at earlier on the walk. Container rusty and log too wet to sign. Left a scrap of paper with my name on. Not sure if it matters anyway as I don't think I can log it on line? Left Traveling talisman TB. Thanks, had a really enjoyable caching time today.
Found it. Carried on to the secret but didn't find that. Did enjoy the spectacular views though.
Had a great walk today on this place. Wondering about the name; whre i come from (switzerland) we call this a hill, mountains star at few hundreds of meters elevation
And thanx for the surprise, got the secret as well [^]

Found this one on our week of caching at the Sunshine Coast. Gave our legs a work out after a morning at the Eumundi Markets. Views were pretty good despite the haze. Found the cache despite reading the additional hint - what does the clue mean because to us it was "under the obvious"!?!? Was nice to meet a fellow cacher from Canberra on our way back down. Thanks d.d.dudes for a very pleasant walk up the hill - shame there was a lot of haze today - even so views are excellent. Enjoyed having a chat with some newcastle cachers on the way up, and then continued afterwards onto the GCA trigpoint cache

After finding Coolum Beach 1, the girlfriend and I drove north to False Tomb. She parked outside the school, and as my GPS unit was showing the cache as being only 250m away, asked her whether she's like to help find this one. She declined, and sat in the car while I made the easy climb up the hill.
Fascinating rocks, btw. Are they volcanic?
Near the top, the pointer started swinging towards a tumbled mess of stones and some low bushes. After only a minute of searching, I was able to uncover the cache, in a very wet and worn looking clip-lid box. Inside were some swaps (I didn't take anything), and a notepad/logbook. As the existing pen didn't work, I swapped it for my own that I'd brought with.
Carefully put the box together and replaced it where I found it. Great climb, great view! And 2 caches in 1 day! Team Beechmere is now an Ace (5 caches).

Thanks to geoNana we had a childfree weekend to spend in Noosa. We loved exploring the area and glad we had caches to find all over the place. We started at the wrong trail first. Luckily it had a map so we could find the right trail. Really enjoyed the climb and the views were great. Resorted to the clue as there was nothing around GZ. Cache found quickly afterwards. Thanks d.d. dudes.
Found at 0816. Had a bit of a climbing walk to it and found it quickly. Took down co-ord for a secret cache did it as well. I am not sure what this one is about but, when the second one was found it was wet and only a soaked note book page from Ledgen I put my own in. The first cache was OK and dry.
couldn't find this one today. evidence of other rocks turned up but no luck for me.
After a few attempts to find the cache, we eventually struck gold and found it. Thanks for the clues d.d.dudes.
