After the latest problems we have decided to archive this cache. Sorry to see it go but there is an opportunity for another hider! Rodney and Iris.
We went on a mission today to collect 40 caches in the Eclipse series, and needed a toilet stop, so added this one to the list. Given the recent DNFs, and the cache's history of being DNFed but then found again after it had been buried, we came prepared, armed with a trowel. We dug around both the tree indicated and around a couple to each side. We believe we were thorough, and on this basis we are flagging it as possibly missing.
Had the place to myself , had a look around but all could find was a lost tennis ball
Thanks for putting out this cache for woolwood9 and I to find!
SL **tm/ww NZ** (may just be a black smudge on the many wet or plastic logs)
*We soon had another good cache located!*
Had a DNF here in 2016, ww9 was onto it quickly today!

Down in Christchurch with the Squirrel, ABCDF4 and eyespyben. During Covid lockdown, we solved a load of puzzles and decided that this would be a good time to visit. We've enjoyed a few days of good weather and seeing the Canterbury countryside. The caches have been in varying states - some good, some not so much. Our time here has been a blast, and we'd like to thank all COs who have made this adventure possible. Thank you and TFTC.
With ABCDF4, eyespyben, and Gap (of Fap and Gap). Logging all finds as Team HRP (Huntly, Rotorua, Papamoa - Our hometowns)... During Covid-19 lockdown, we solved a truck load of puzzles around Christchurch - Canterbury region. No use thrashing the old grey matter for no cause - We decided we should make good on this handiwork...
There are lots of interesting trails and geoart surrounding Christchurch. What you aren’t told is how far flung some of these caches actually are. Some beforehand advice would have been great, so here are some of my notes... You’re welcome!
1. Mobile coverage is patchy, especially in those quiet, rural areas where it was most needed. Saving caches to offline might show that you are prepared and organised...
2. There are many dusty metal roads on the trails. The car will get messy, and your hair will feel like cardboard at the end of the day...
3. Suitable clothing and footwear are essential. You will climb in and out of hedges, gorse, and other rough stuff. You might get scratched, cut to shreds, and bleed a lot. It’s not advised to wear your brand new jacket on the day...
4. Take lots of food and drink. You’ll probably be head down, tail up and not realise you haven’t eaten until late afternoon. There are very few shops or gas stations out there...
5. Make sure that you secure keys and wallet and know where these are placed for easy retrieval. A full box of pens might be useful too, especially if you’re inclined to free some into the wild...
6. Know the difference between left and right, and north, south, east, and west. Turning right and heading north will not get you to South Christchurch quickly.
7. Look with girl’s eyes rather than boys eyes... Some caches haven’t been found in a while and you might have to get down on your knees to pray.
8. Always be prepared for misleading hints. This is what turns simple caches into D5/T5 hides... “Head height” could mean the cache is positioned at your toes.
9. Have a sense of humour and like the people you go caching with. It’s going to be a very long day, and you might want to hurt someone during the journey...
10. Make sure you can operate your phone/device and it doesn’t crash when you most need it...
11. Learn to cut and paste logs because you’re going to repeat this function so often when logging all of your finds.
12. Above all else, have fun and be kind...
No time to waste today - We each had caching jobs to do, and our day was mostly planned... We were surprised by the state of the facilities tucked away in here... Thanks Sallies and TFTC.

After puzzle solving in the Canterbury region along with EyeSpyBen we were invited to join Fap (from Fap & Gap) and Squirrel Nutcase to a week long caching adventure in the Canterbury area. With flights and accommodation booked were off, all met up in ChCh. and many hard dusty Kms travelled and many caches found, I think the Squirrel has said it all in his brief. Many thanks for the placements and Cos for bringin us to the very pleasant areas we travelled in to your region

Easy find with the directions. The container was put on the open so I tucked it back where it should be. Thanks for the cache.
A nice spot that I’d never bothered to check out before. Thanks for bringing me here, and a nice quick cache. TFTC
Buried under / next to a tree base. Looked for sometime but we did find it slightly buried in clear view of the gate.
In Christchurch for the Otago/Southland raid on Christchurch... as there is no Mega this labour weekend we decided to make our own mini Epic event. Jumped in a car with a few others from Dunedin (Gadget169, KJR and CJ-Curry) and tried to finish the Eclipse series today and also find all of the smurfs....but picked a few more on the way.
Thank you for the cache and laying on great weather.... well the wind meant we had to chase the bags and log paper down the road a few times.
For this one we spent about 20-25minutes looking for this one after using the nice public toilets. We had not luck - wonder if the recent tree trimming work is the reason - we slipped and slid over a lot of discarded branches and grass cuttings.

Planning for the [NZ Mega 2020](http://nzmega.com) event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 23 to 26 October 2020. It's going to be a massive celebration of geocaching:
* 20 years of geocaching worldwide.
* 20 years since New Zealand had the very first geocache hidden outside of USA.
* And it's 2020 - all the 20s!
Talk to your geo-friends and start planning to be part of [this event](http://nzmega.com) - you won't want to miss it!

Heading to springfield for work and was early so a couple of quick caches on the way. Finally dropped off the red jeep!
Drove out to the Waimak Gorge and back today to check out some of our own caches. Took brother-in-law Donald for a ride (Nufc). Checked out fourteen caches, and this was number one. Actually we couldn't find it so will come out again another day unless someone logs it in the meantime. Could be a victim of cache creep. Donald was very impressed with the nice tennis courts. Rodney.
Found!
Was just about to leave and was on our final look when I stumbled across this cash! Great hiding place!
Unfortunately we forgot a pen and pencil was missing so couldn't sign...

Very well maintained grounds, wouldn’t know from driving past. Lots rabbit holes. Good toilet stop.
What a neat spot! We are new to the area and are happy this cache introduced us to this great domain. Thanks! Although the phone GPS said we were still 14 metres away, the hint was helpful enough to get us to the right spot.
Who would have guessed this was here?
Easy unexpected find while exploring the area.
Thanks

Found today while out for a Sunday drive. Lived in the area for 20years but have never stopped at the domain. Thanks for the cache.
Visiting from Brisbane with Slow Puncture for the Oamaru Geofest, and we're seeing all the wonderful sights the South Island has to offer as we travel along. Day 5: An early start as we ventured out of Christchurch in a big loop hunting challenges, solved GeoArt, and older caches. We were stunned by the beautiful views of the Alps across the farmland of Canterbury Plains.
Thanks for the hunt **Sallies**, this find makes #4387. Discover our TB

Tuesday. Slow Puncture has teamed up with Orange Crew to make a Moreton Bay assault on the Oamaru Geofest. Day Five saw us take a large loop out from Christchurch, West towards the snow-capped mountains, before returning and doing some urban caching within Christchurch itself. This was the best place for a cache! As per the description, we were amazed to round the corner and find what we did. Loved the sign on the glass door which basically outlined there was no point in breaking in. And really loved the fact that there were toilets there, and they were open. Perfect.
This was the 27th of 71 caches found on today's trip.
Thanks ***Sallies***, for showing us this place.

Well we arrived late last night and today once we finally got our rental car started to head off and get some caches this was our first three for the day of getting many as we will slowly head down towards Omaru for the big Geofest events happening down there and looking forward to meeting old and new faces. thank you for placing a cache here and starting our adventurous weekend ahead nice quick find signed the log and placed it back exactly where we found it. now onto the next cache its still morning, but not an early start, but couldn't be helped. TFTC we enjoyed this one such a lovely HIDDEN SECRET. beautiful views nice and clean and tidy obviously well looked after area. Thank you so much for bringing us to this area. We had a lovely wonder around.
Checked this out today while driving past. It was out in the open so we tucked it away again.
28 August 2017 19:13 The facilities that I could see by by my fast dying torchlight were very impressive there must of been someone in the district very keen on tennis and hood at organisation and fundraising to get this started! TFTC Sallies. Cache # 3074
This was one of the most surprising finds of the day - I never imagined that this would be what was here. A great facility - I wonder how often it is used. Thanks Sallies for the cache
It is always amazing when you find these places you would otherwise miss. Thanks for bringing me here.
True to the description, luckysteaks and I drove past the entrance to this domain even though we were looking for it. We turned around, returned, and made our way in. Lo and behold, we found tennis courts! That was a surprise. We also found a nice geocache. That was not a surprise but we were happy to have achieved our goal! (And on my birthday, too.) TFTC #1165
WOW! what an amazing spot for a cache! My dad was born and grew up just up the road from here. I had no idea this domain was here. Thanks for placing the cache and giving me the chance to discover this little gem!
Very nice spot only 5 minutes from my friends place. They didn't know that their were tennis courts so close by their place. Mind you, they have their own court on their farm... TFTC
What a hidden surprise this was! Easy find on a very quiet day out this way. TFTC and taking me there.
Don't get out this way too often. Decided to head out this way for a day of caching with Mr Cuddly Brick. After we parted way, I headed here to knock of a few more caches. Lost my pen so took a photo of the logbook. Can provide pic if the CO required. Thanks for the cache

Visiting New Zealand for the first time from Australia, with Apty who was born here.
I agree, that is a pretty good facility! Quite well designed. Almost makes me wish I lived here and played tennis. But I can't play tennis for bananas...

CrackedChelle and I are over from South Australia touring Christchurch, West Coast and Nelson before staying with my sister and her family in Upper Hutt. I'm an ex-pat from Nelson and this is Chelle's first adventure to Aotearoa.
Another one of those "If it wasn't for geocaching, I wouldn't have known this was there!"
I love the way they have cut the courts into the bank and built the club room up with a view.

With a few hours to spare between work commitments this morning, it was time to go oout and find a few more caches. Although it was a bit of a foggy start to the day, the morning soon cleared up to a stunning winters day. This was as far as I was going to go in this direction today. Although the area looks a bit run down from the road, as you get closer, it certainly looks like its in active use. No one using the facilities today though. It took me a lot longer to find this cache than ti should have done. Finally had one last poke and prod in a spot I thought I'd already checked and there was the cache. TFTC, Biggles.
Making our way back to Christchurch and picking up a few puzzle caches that we had solved - and a couple of traditionals - along the way.
Were just about to leave when one of us had one last look and there it was!!

No find for us here in the dark, cold wind and rain - we only looked briefly before retreating to the car.
Who knew a place like this existed. So weird. Followed this cache by going down to the river. TFTC
We are having a few days in Chch visiting family and of course finding some caches as well. After a couple of days SW of the city today we headed NW and as well as most of the Lolly Scramble trail we found several others in and around the areas nearby.A great variety of containers and hides made it a very enjoyable day. The logs were signed HZ+HM, H+H, or on some case with our full names.Thank you to all the CO's for making these 59 finds possible today.
It was a combination of holidays, family visit and caching. Since our last visit lots of trails have appeared and there were many puzzles to be solved. And a lot of trads thrown in for good measure of course. We almost forgot what it's like to be cut, scraped, prodded, pricked, bruised and stabbed by the large variety of hedges you can find caches under in Canterbury. We were not deterred and it was fun to find them. Thank you Sallies
TFTC - great way to spend time out in a beautiful autumn Canterbury day with the kids on school holiday.
A nice stop off while picking up the eclipse mint series. These are cute courts. TFTC!
We nearly missed the entrance to this domain. Such a neat spot and a really cool tennis court, very peaceful and sheltered. I wish we had our tennis rackets! Tftc.
It never ceases to amaze me how many wonderful facilities are tucked away in little communities. Thanks for showing us this.
Well this place is a well kept secret in more ways than one. Glad I visited. Thanks
I decided to venture out on a random drive to find some caches and get to know places. Both aims accomplished successfully in around 8.5 hours, covering a mere 180-ish k's, with plenty of interesting caches along the way. It was a good day for caching, overcast, turning to rain and showers, keeping muggles indoors. Got back home late, wet, and happy. Thanks to all the CO's for great hides that gave me hours of entertainment!
This one was an amazing discovery!!! So well hidden, but it looks like still in use and maintained...

Nice little birthday cache for me today. I frequent this road often but never knew this spot was here! Great holiday vibe. Coordinates were slightly off but easy to work out hide with the hint. Tftc ♡ ♡
Mega trip to NZ: day 4, alone with my beloved squib. We stopped on our way to Christchurch. Thanks for the fun and greetings from Finland.
A nice walk to find the cache -a break from all the sitting. Apologies for being so late logging this. Found during the Mega weekend. TFTC.
In town for a “Mega” weekend of caching. I joined up with Yeetrees and gonefishing to form Team YGB. I really enjoyed exploring the country roads of Canterbury. We travelled a fair few Kilometres in the 4 days we were here, and had a great time, with a lot of laughs along the way. Good weather, and good company. It doesn’t get much better than that does it.
Sunday. Day Three, Area 3. And we're off to an area that I dubbed “South of the River” when I was planning things. A nice sunny day but with a cool breeze, the promised afternoon showers didn’t eventuate either.
Thanks to all the CO’s for all the caches we found. Cheers and TFTC

Found during the Mega weekend on bit of a tiki-tour around the Canterbury back blocks. Great weather, great caches, great fun! Thanks to all the cache owners for putting out and maintaining caches for us to find. All in all, a fun road trip with Boxhill and Yeetrees, we signed many of the logsheets as YGB to save both time and logsheet spaces.

Third day of the Chch Mega 2015 event. Decided to go caching with buttels today to do the Thompson track and few others. Managed a reasonably good day of 100+ caches. The last few caches of the day were the standard traditional caches. Some had amazing views, and some interesting history. Thanks for the caches.
Intriguing coming across this setup in the middle of nowhere, definitely a case of it being something you wouldn't know was there if it hadn't been for geocaching.
Landed up wandering around the perimeter of the court instead of cutting across it. Didn't take too long to locate cache once in general vicinity. Second of seven on Sunday outing. Some snow still around in places. #828. TFTC.

Tennis score love:1. Love this spot, never knew it was here and 1 because its our first cache of the day. Now on to Avoca with Nosynel and Bbear44. TFTC
First cache for the days adventure, as we are heading for Avoca Valley for the day. Did not know there was a tennis court in the back of here and I drive past this at least once a month, was nice to stop and take a look this time. Cheers for the cache
Would never have come out this way if it wasn't for geocaching. What an amazing setup. Lots of evidence of cattle being here. Tftc
We were certainly surprised to see how many tennis courts there are in this gem of a place. The only muggle around was a healthy hare trying to get through the gate! A quick easy find & well named GZ site. TFTC, this has been on our hit list for a while now.
Having an Easter "it's all about the numbers" weekend. Day 2.
Completed the Lolly Trail. Came over to this side of the river to find the Spelling Challenges and now caching my way back to Oxford.
Looks like this is cache #91 for the day and what a wee gem.
Finding places like this is what caching is really all about for us but this would have never got onto the RADAR if I hadn't been chasing numbers.
Who would have thought that this little oasis was hidden down here? I can just imagine families spending an afternoon here enjoying some tennis. What fun.
Thanks very much for bringing me here & TFTC
