I had all good intentions of doing the Power Trail today but ran out of time so did the Presidents Power Trail and a few others around as well instead.

Another in the series found - great view. TFTC. Big Grin

Another find for Team 500 + along THE mother of all power caching trails that resides on the CA and Nevada border for some April Fooling around, geocaching style. Team 500 + consists of [green]Team Geo-Rangers and Peasinapod [/green] with the trip goal of finding 500+ caches in a single calendar day. Two ardent cachers, one vehicle loaded down with provisions and TOTT, and the best intel planning that money can buy! Countless hours finding geocaches and the requisite exercise that goes with it (lifting swag laden ammo cans) has finally paid off! We started at exactly midnight and cached the trail all day long, finding 626 geocaches for a personal best. It proved to be a worthy physical and mental challenge to give it our all for 24 hours straight, realizing an average cache find every 2 minutes and 18 seconds. Also, no LPCs were attempted or harmed on this day! There was some collateral damage done to the 4WD Geocaching Utility Vehicle but Peas was prepared for that contingency, so it didn't really affect the daily outcome.

Other highlights of the day included awakening a bird at the old Natural Air Conditioning cache site, meeting Moose Mob on the trail and his bio-fueled SEMI loaded with large torpedo tube caches (we slipped in some signed log sheets when he wasn't looking), greeting geocachers from Big Bend, Oregon, Redding, California, and Dylans Gang in their cool looking red jeep (maybe it was white but just covered with trail dust?!).

We would like to thank the cache hiders for a wonderful challenge and the significant effort that went into executing a first class geocaching adventure! Four Thumbs, WAY UP!!!

We would also like to thank our wonderful wives for the approval of the kitchen passes and their encouragement to attempt to set an unofficial geocaching world record. Without their support, we would be otherwise spending our time mowing the lawn, trimming the hedges and working on tax returns like everyone else who doesn't geocache.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH; your cache is greatly appreciated! Big Grin

Life is what you make of it - so let's make it FUN! [^] [^]

[purple]Cut and Paste Logging Disclaimer:[/purple]

[red] All geocaching logs have been entered using the services of Cecil B Monkey Enterprises, so please forgive the impersonal cut and paste log. We at CBM Enterprises believe that all geocaches published by Groundspeak are truly great and worth seeking so please do not let this C&P log detract from the noble undertakings of cache hiders and good looking admins that volunteer their considerable time to make this endeavor wonderful for all, especially power caching trails. To conserve precious log sheet space, Team 500 + was noted on all logs for caches found. Final caveat: WARNING: PEASINAPOD and TEAM GEO-RANGERS are highly trained geocaching professionals, so please don't try this at home or anywhere else for that matter! [/red] Wink

This cache was found on the greatest caching day ever for the two members of Team 500+. Team Geo-Rangers and I made up the caching team duo that went for this power trail megalith with the singular goal of finding 500 (or more) caches in a single calendar day. We began at the stroke of midnight and ended exactly 24 hours later. This wasn’t just Good Friday, it was a Great Friday! The final tally was 626 finds or 2 minutes, 18 seconds per cache or an average of 26.1 finds per hour for 24 hours straight.
OK, the ground rules: we stay together, we use one vehicle, no rest stops, no splitting up, no sticker on the outside of any containers, we both go for the caches, no LPCs, no find=no log, no cheating by previewing the route, no leapfrogging, no whining, no quitting, no shoes, no shirt, no service. Yes we used a sticker on the log sheets. It had the name Team 500+ with a small yellow smiley on it.
This entire adventure was made possible by the incredible hard work of placing, publishing and maintaining the combined three power trails that were our targets. The mother of all power trails is of course the Gods Trail by the NGA. Incredible! You can’t imagine how much work is needed to place all those caches. In addition we did the Phobia Trail to the northeast and the Presidents trail to the south also by NGA! We all know who NGA is and cannot thank him and his crew enough for all they have done. We were blessed by the gods to meet the incredible NGA (aka Moose Mob) while on the trail! They drove by to say hi while we were in the hunt. We know that this type of caching is “controversial†to some but we love it. Play the game your way and don’t detract from those that want to play it their way. Thank you, thank you, thank you NGA!
Mega-kudos to my partner in this endevour. He was a tough one to keep up with as he ran to each hide. This was a marathon in every sense. Without his dedication we would never have accomplished our goal.
For those that plan to do this trail be warned: this is not for the faint of heart, the weak of kidney or the weenie of vehicle. Yes the caches are generally easy to find (some are tough!). This not a drive-by Walmart LPC cache and dash. The game here is the challenge of route finding in a remote and inhospitable environment. Deep sand, rough rocky trails and weather extremes are the norm. Cell service is mostly non-existent and help is a very long hike away. Good luck, prepare well and cache on!
