Description

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

No crop showing and fence is down in one spot but I didn't think it would be right to enter the paddock. Required photos taken from the side of the road.

Staying in Murray Bridge for a week we have been focusing on finding some GCA caches and this was one of them. Our last visit to Murray Bridge was for our 1st Mega so nice to return and find caches that we missed or have been published since then.

Again while passing through the area it was a short diversion to come past here and collect another trig
This one just goes to show that in some places you don't need to get that much elevation to enjoy some great views ]^]
Cheers

I guess this one's close enough to log a "find". At least it's still intact.

Found this trig on our way from Murray Bridge to Mannum the long way around doing some more of the Wandering Heroes series. Gotta love a driveby trig! TFTT

While I would have been very close, and probably driven past this trig back in Easter time I dropped past and chatted the neighbour over the road about the crop of barley growing on the hill. So rather than trampling a small track close enough to get a 'money shot' I got an appropriate photo from the road.

South Australian OZ Mega 2014 in Murray Bridge. A Twelve day trip to and from the mega. Plenty of caching along the way and near Murray bridge. A great time with lots of cachers all over the place to make for a very entertaining period.

I joined up with Sol de Lune for the lead up to the Mega and the mega itself. Mega Day 1, which was a drive from the Barossa Valley to Murray Bridge via Mannum. Thanks.

Was on a mission to bring the Mother-in-law from Mannum back to Blackwood, so an opportunity to grab some caches on the way.

152m is good enough for a photo ....
