Description
A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.
Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.
If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

My bet is the locked cover
Flew into Alice Springs and met up with my fellow intrepid team members Sol de Lune, Albida33 and LuckyL10n for the start of an amazing trip throughout the Northern Territory, Queensland, New South Wales and eventually back to Canberra. The Red Centre Experience is the main attraction of course, but also on our agenda are a lot of GC Caches, lots of trigs, as well as plenty of GCA Trads, History and Virtual Caches (and maybe the odd beer or two ??!! . Go Clan Cerberus !
Another trig for the trip. Really nice views from up here. There was a bit of confusion omong the cachers up here as to exactly what was the trig but we decided it clearly was the oblisk. Lest We Forget. Photo taken. Then it was back in the car and off to the next one !
Another trig added to the dragonZone list. I really enjoy finding trigs and also the new CORS that are popping up everywhere !
TFTC !!
Day 4 of our trip to The Red Centre Experience in Alice Springs for Easter.

TFTT and the word
Also one of the best views around
But forget looking for a tripod or other such structure ...
The trig point is there, but it is locked !!
There was a bit of a crowd up here, but that didn't stop me finding this 'cache'
We were up here to enjoy the view and to grab the nearby GC cache when I spotted the survey point. Should have figured there was a Trig marker up here !
Cheers
Great view of town up here.
Photo of the trig marker attached.
Cheers.
Beautiful at sunset (though it can get a little crowded)
I rate this a Difficulty 1 Terrain 1 cache, and if there was a GAFF rating of 0 this would deserve it. I didn't do a "GoTo" on the Magellan Explorist and I didn't do a "Navigate To" on the TomTom, but when the pillar appeared in front of me I checked for a cache, and there it was.
This is a great spot to watch the sunset from, and is one of the most stunning spots for a War Memorial I've found.
