Description

Bulli Point TS1255

Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: Bulli Point.

Serial number is: TS1255.

Last Inspected on: No Data.

Elevation is: 13 metres.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Nice afternoon to visit some caches

After attending an event in Austinmer, I decided to drive back via inspecting Trig sites. It was just getting dark as I arrived at this trig. One of my photos is fairly clear with the lights of the ships out in the ocean in the background, and the nameplate. But then I went for a wander around checking the place out and enjoying the views. When I returned for the selfie I'd forgotten to take, it was getting quite dark. I was hoping the nearly full moon might peep through the clouds to join me for the photo, but it didn't. I also snapped a scenic photo from just a little beyond the trig.

Quick stop on my way back to Sydney this afternoon. Had to be quick as there was a lot of people about.

20-Aug-17
After finding my last Waypoint/Trig Point for Sydney (Farm Cove), I headed further south to get a couple more. This is one of those that 'doubles up' with Waymarking. Cool
Found and photographed @ 1648, Sunday, 20 August

A very easily accessible trig that we rode to on our short ride around the foreshore today. Would have liked to ride further but the weather wasn't looking too crash hot!!
Not sure what the significance of the word 'fuzz' was which is in large letters on the grass at GZ. Guess some muggle has used some chemical to kill the grass and write it.
Thanks.

09-Apr-17

21-Dec-14
Happened upon this one while caching around the area. Sad story on a nearby plaque of a young surfer who lost his life.

10-May-14
It was easy access to this Trig Point. The required photos have been added to the Gallery.

12-Dec-13
Found on the NSW leg of our Round Aust trip
We went for a bit of a drive around the local area and stopped here to get a pic for the log. The vanes have now been and has been replaced by a black plastic cover. Some great views along the coast both North and South.
TFTC,
Thanks from Margaret River West Australia!

it has taken a long time but at last I have managed to find the time to make my way down to Bulli Point to log this easy Trig.
The vanes have suffered from corrosion, not surprising with the salt blown onto the shore. The name plaque is intact, curiously the mast is very short, most likely to make the whole assembly stronger and to resist the strong winds.

11-Feb-12
Found with Just a cacher on a run down the coast. A busy spot this afternoon with muggles enjoying the breezes and sea views.

06-Dec-11
I was done nearby in Bulli for a quick work gig today, and just before we left to go back to Sydney, while drinking the "keep-me-awake-for-the-drive" coffee, I turned on the GPS to find a CG traditional and this trig less than 100M from me - so obviously it was essential to wander over to look at the view properly while I drank the coffee. Yep - snagged them both before we left.

GCA 229 - 4372. A Trig find for "McFitzdeLune" - McPhan, Sol de Lune and Myself.

Always happy to 'find' a quick Trig. As McPhan says a twoforone stop!

TFTC !

03-Dec-11
Found with McPhan and Fitzy on our weekend run through Wollongong.

(Apologies for the original blank log, not sure what happened...)

461. Was in the area letting ZZ7 go for the GC cache while the rest of us scored a twofor. Snapped a shot and then we went to help him find the lesser site's cache.

TFTT And the beef.

20-Apr-11
Quickly took a photo here while the boys were getting out of the car for the nearby GC cache.

17-Mar-11
Was down this way after a job in the 'Gong so stopped on the way back to Sydney. For once had someone else with me to take a photo. It would appear to be Bulli Point trig officially, at least according to it's little plaque. Pleasant views of the coast from here.

28-Dec-10
stopped here for lunch after found a cache nearby.
great spot
Clapping

22-May-10
A quick trip in the darkness to visit this one. So many rabbits munching on the grass. Was actually quite pleasant at GZ. The sound of the waves crashing in the darkness and many lights from the city shining all around. Will come back in the day time.

Came up this way to tick a couple of Trigs off my list. A very pleasant spot with views of the coal ships anchored off shore & the escarpment. A very warm & humid day with smog evident over Port Kembla.

08-Feb-10
We were staying near by on a Holiday to Bulli from Canberra. A major surf carnival was running when we visited this trig.

25-Jan-10
Found this trig easy enough, pity about the nearby cache.
