Description
A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache.
Track starts at S41 29.571 E146 21.185 which is the junction of Gog & Union Bridge Road. Any type of 4wd will get up with ease...otherwise you will have an approx. 0.5h walk on well graded track.
Logs
After driving right up to the trigpoint the required photos were taken and then admired the view before searching for the 2 caches nearby.

Overnighting in Chudleigh we headed out to find a cache to continue our geostreak.
Beautiful day out around the Mersey Forest.
Great 4x4 drive but no challenge for the geocruiser.
TFTC
Drove to within 150 metres of the site and quickly found this and the two nearby caches.
Thanks for the trig point which was found at 1005
I left home at 0500hrs, meeting up with the "flyer" at 0600hrs. I found 11 for the day while Budgie got 20 or 21. We got back to Budge's home at 2100hrs and I arrived back in Huonville an hour later.
"Gog Hill" was my fourth find for the day. The drive to within about 150 metres of the cache saved my legs for later in the day. We by-passed this cache and did "All Agog" first then trekked back to the trig claiming a find at 1005hrs. Great views! "Great hide!!"
Prior to this I had found "Chudleigh hut" and "State of the Union"; others found today were the remainder of the "Gog series", some of sirius Tas' new ones around the Wilmot River and a couple in Devonport.
Overall a long and in some places a hard day but very rewarding. We both scored on flip flop (leech) bite each in the Wilmot area; I even carried one in my clothing back to Turners Beach where it tried to attach to my hand. No blood in my alcohol stream - TeHeHe!
Thanks Budge for another great day.
TFTC and cheers
OldSaint.
We walked up this one as we didn't know the track and the start of it looked a little uninviting. As it turns out we would have been able to make it easily but still the walk was an enjoyable one.
Anyway, we made it up and got the required picture.
Then an unbeatable bonus of perfect weather at the top with not a breath of wind, and that view!!
I think I am going a little crazy as I find myself talking to these trigs ... when I see them I get a little excited and call out "hello" and "Yay I found you" ... and Im getting the bug to find more...(think Sirius caught it before me) but they certainly suck you in
For those who haven't been here before....there are now three caches to make your trip worthwhile. Always superb views from here. Obviously this isn't a FTF....so open to next cacher.
