Description
Thanks to Gigglygecko, for discovering this trig! Another one of those trigs where you scratch you head as to "how useful is that"? Still, this is an older trig, and very nice.
A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.
Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.
If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Travelling from the coast to the mountains, I stopped at the Warri Rest Area for the night. It was so stinking hot that afternoon and the river was the PERFECT temp to just lower yourself down into to cool off. Heading off around 6am but the supermarket not being open in Bungendore till 7am, I decided to busy myself finding a geocache or trig easy to access with a caravan in tow. Looking at the satellite image on this one, I knew it was the prize. It was a nice easy walk to the best maintained trig ever - jokes. Looking at the gallery here, you can see it was once a little more majestic than a messy pile of rocks amongst a dumped house clean out, and surrounded by tall trees leaving no view whatsoever.
If I had a little more time and a pair of gloves, I might have stacked a few rocks back up on the cairn base, but it was on towards Canberra to visit my lonely-ass sister for a couple of hours.

A trig with a cache, cool. This trig has had better days, its now a flattened cairn.

Oh how I love a DIDO, especially when I get two for the price of one. Driving home from Braidwood and decided to grab some more caches of any variety. TFTT Geocaching Australia.

I relaxing 10km detour from Bungendore to get this trig. Looks like a party zone!

Stopped by to collect the GC cache at the trigpoint, and then decided that it is very likely to be a trig on GCA as well!
So snapped a pic with the very sad trigpoint, looks like someone has vandalised it sometime since February as the actual marker is gone and only a pile of rocks remain
Thanks for discovering!

After a drive to Braidwood today and the GA games on I thought I would stop and start playing again. I ended up with a extra bonus here as there is a GC to.

On my way back to Sydney via Batemans Bay I stopped to visit this old Trig. Shame about the rubbish about but worth stopping. TFTT.

Mr Morris was on a roadtrip from Bendigo to Canberra via Batemans Bay collecting a few caches along the way. Love the name of this mountain - should be a gnome haven
Quite a lot of rubbish around this one - and no, it wouldn't be very useful these days Thanks for the trig.
Found while grabbing the nearby GC cache. A nice spot.

NOT at the top of a mountain... now that's nice for a change. Found it quite easily...there's even room for your audience.

#GA618 - 16:45; I was passing by today on the trip home from Nowra and dropped by this trig. I had collected the adjacent GC trad ages back, before I had discovered the joys of the humble trigonometric point. That made for a quicker find today as I was able to park within 70 metres. "Found" along with the GC cache. A muggle free photo op on the King's Hwy is a rare thing indeed. Thanks for the bonus cache Gigglygecko.
Found this trig with FurfacesLL and specimenX while on a road caching trip round the coast area. Cache and a Trig, bonus
GrimRaider and I pulled in to check out this trig station today on the way home from the coast. Glad we did as it was interesting to get up close to one for a change. We usually notice when we get to the top of the range here but we will also know about this trig station now. Thanks for bringing us here.

On a run back from down the coast stopped and called in to do the traditional and this, I wonder how old this one is as it has some markings on the fins? Will add photo later when I get the laptop working again.

Final cache found on our holiday to Narooma. We didn't take a photo when we did the GC cache, so we came back today to get a photo. A very nice area and trig. Thanks Geocaching Australia!

Grabbed this on the way home from a frog-saving mission! Nice little trig, which you really cant imagine, that the highway is pratically next to!

Returning home from Xmas on the coast, this was a nice easy trig to stop by.
Couldn't let this one go when I was so close to getting the GC cache close by... Nice easy TRIG that I didn't have to climb a mountain for..
Great! A Trig with history.
We stopped on the way to the coast. It felt like it was too soon and I wanted to keep going.
Boy an I glad we did stop. There are quite a few old signatures graffitied onto the veins.
Just goes to prove that people were into "tagging" a hundred years ago.
The photo shows the broad arrow cut into the post but it is also stamped into the metal of the veins.
We picked up a nice piece of equipment dropped in the bushes. If you think you lost it tell me what it is and you can have it back.

Catching up on some Trig finds.....
We found this one years ago when looking at properties in the area. Ended up buying down the road a bit but have always loved the charm of this older style trig and how the trees have totally eclipsed it.
Photo is of Jim as wanted to show the whole Trig, not just the 'ball'. We're chuffed to se that others enjoy it as much as we do. Thanks.

Stopped at the Trig so the others could get that GC cache and we all 'found' the GCA Trig - nice to have a quick break during the drive.

Out with jusojara today on a caching trip to Braidwood. This was my first and wow just drove up to it. What a lovely old trig. Wonder if the arrow on the pole was done by a convict TFTC
Grabbed this one as a bonus with the nearby GC cache. Amazing trig hidden away here.

Nice to see an old trig, interesting to note it hasn't succumbed to bushfire, insects or vandalism - it certainly is off the beaten track, though extremely close all the same. The Sunday afternoon rush from the coast back to Canberra was definitely in full swing!

157. Out and about the Bungendore area today and so this one was on the radar. It was only after I found this one that I realised that their was a cache from the secondary site here as well. Easy walk and I should have driven all the way in.
TFTT and the bullion.

I drive past this point all the time and never knew it was here. Suprising that it's still in such good condition given proximity to major highway.

A pretty little trig with no view !
Still the surrounding forest was wonderful enough!
Thanks GCA !

What a great old trig. Looks like it was only put up yesterday (in 1810). Thanks for bringing us here.
Awesome - my first GCA cache
My Oregon 550 is my camera, so you only get the GeoMobile in shot - but you can check the exif info if required.
I really enjoyed this Trig - the older style has more character than the new ones, and in the aftermath of the rain shower, it was very photogenic.
