Description

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

I left my gps at the base of this hill thinking the trig would be obvious. It was eventually. Look over the fence.

Another trig encountered on my gnome hunt. I was wondering what route the gnome had traveled to this destination until I read the trig logs and realised he came the same way as me. The local dog walkers must be getting used to someone strolling by with a silver surfer under their arm!

A beautiful morning for a bit of a walk in the park, or in my case along the Yurrebilla trail Mr. Green Picked up the trail on the old freeway and had a lovely walk through paddocks and along a ridge to the top of the tanks track and this Trig point. Picture taken then it was about face an back to way I had come.
Cheers

A very handy trig to log during the current Summer Scavenger Series. This trig could have fulfilled a lot of claims, including it's elevation, but we'll use it for it's terrain rating.

The marker here looks a lot like a benchmark rather than just a trig station, but as it's the highest point in the area, it probably served as both.

Yesterday afternoon in a moment of insanity I thought hey, why don't I climb up Brown Hill and then continue to wylie trig? I rode the geobicycle to the base of the hill, locked it up and I was on my way. After the gruelling climb, I found myself at Brown Hill Trig. (Log to come later) After taking a photo there I continued on towards this trig point. After a rather pleasant walk I found myself at the second and final trig point for the day. I took my photo. (See attached) and sat down at the base of the water tank for a well earned break.

Feel weird logging a cache we just created, but hey, we did locate this trig! There is only a plate and warning post at this trig point.
This trig is the highest point in the Waite Conservation Reserve.
