A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to access.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on 'Log this Cache' and placing an 'Archived' log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty/terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

A quick trig on route to work and an excuse to drop off some more movables in new hides... still so many to go I have to take every opportunity to hide them!

Trig is in good order, no vanes but plate ID in tact.

Was over this way and almost missed this as I was heading back to work. Drove up the dead end street and walked past the halls towards GZ. Saw the Trig and took the photo. nice!

A quick site survey at Frenchs Forest this afternoon, and detoured on the way back to the office for an easy find. Parked in front of the run down looking scout hall and a short walk, and there it was. Hiding under the shadows of the Crown Castle Tower these days but another one ticked off.

Another Trig for our trig hunt with pjmpjm, this is really a drive by from the car park of the local RSL Club.
The mast and vanes are long gone but the name plaque is still there.

This was the first of the four trigs I logged this evening, driving over towards Middle Harbour from the Dural area, and racing against the setting sun.

Fortunately, this old trig is adjacent to the RSL Club car park and I could drive right to it.

There are no vanes, but the side plaque is in place and the top plate is fine.

Great to make the acquaintance of another trig over this way . . .

My son used to go to high school near here.

Found this on an old parish map some time ago and looking on Google Earth and Nearmap led me to believe it may still be there. Something in the images looked trig-like so we used those coords. Of course there was nothing there but we searched nearby and there was the trig - vane-less but pedestal and plaque intact! Winner! Overlooking a busy oval where the sausages sizzled. Dated at 1973. There's the possible remains of the original stone cairn on the ground nearby.
A nice find!
