Another spot we've driven past a lot, but only taken the time to stop today. We parked 60m or so west of the trigs, and froggered across the road and up the rocky/spiky/brushy slope, to find the trig and a half!

Sophoutloud and I needed an excuse to get out of the house so we decided to drive 'Bells Line' to Lithgow and grab a few trigs on the way through. We managed to grab 13 across the day to bump up our trig count significantly. we had a great day out and most of the trigs we found were in great conditions, some even looked like they had a new coat of paint. nice shiny and white metal post. It was a little challenging getting over the road to this one as the road was busy today but there is good safe parking on the northern side of the road close by

Another one of my favorite kinds of finds!! two for the effort of one. As one of the previous logs stated I really do believe crossing bells line of road is probably one of the most dangerous parts of finding these trigs. They were both in such good condition. It almost looked like someone had been out and given these trigs a new coat of paint since the bushfires!

A short walk and scramble up the hill to get to GZ was worth it for the views.

The Trig however is a little worse for wear with the vanes on the ground beside the pedestal.

stopped here on the way to Lithgow to get the 2 trigs & the cache nearby. A nice climb to the top after disturbing a lot of spiders went a different way down and disturbed a different set of spiders. The view from the top was worth it got alnic39 walking to the trig. Thanks for the trig

I'd call this a bucket list trig. I had been here twice before and just didn't feel confident of tackling it. Today I had Sir Phil with me, and we managed it with ease. The toughest and most dangerous part is the traffic on Bells Line of Road.

Was heading past so stopped and headed up towards GZ. Great views and all was good.

Having found this one in the 1980's it was still nice to come on back and check it out, and get some fresh photos. Also, I would have logged Charles New just as "Charles" in those days as I didn't see the significance of the chisel marks and plug nearby.
A nice clamber up, a couple of photos, then the long trip back home for another early start on Monday morning. (With the 'late logging' - 2/8/14) I believe that this would have brought me up to x 200 trigs on GCA. Tho I had already found more than 200 back in the 1980's.

After a quick find on the STBMPT cache, there was the ponder over the location for the two Charles. On 'that' hill it seemed and it was off to wander in the general direction. The 'mushroom is a tentative soul at best, so it was with some misgivings the above the roadside clamber was undertaken - and somewhat disconcerting with the brittleness of stone. But to the top and at a turn the New Charles stood resplendent.
On a windless, sunny day the peace was barely interrupted with the low traffic on the BLoR and the grand almost 360° view could be taken in.
Both New and the Old Charles were duly noted (trig finds 99 and 100).

A suitably happy surprise too, with an 'uneventful' downhill return.

Found this one and the other one!

Not sure which was Charles and which was Charles New but they were both there and with the vanes in good condition

Another nice old trig to add to Clan Phoenix control today on a trip to GCA central in Lithgow. Found on dusk with great views.

Parked beside the road and then crossed over when safe - you've got to be quick! - and climbed the hill to the top to see the trig in great condition. Brilliant views and a bonus trig next to it. Actually I'd call this trig 'Charles' as that's what the plaque says and would name the other one "Charles Old".

I was driving along the Bell Line of Road and saw there was a trig marked on the topo so found a spot to park the car and clambered up the top.

I didn't realise there were two trig markers here, although I did notice the actual summit was a few metres from the trig pole and there seemed to be a pile of rocks under the thick scrub there. Anyway I think this is the one I photographed.

1973! A great year!

A short climb for a great view and a double trig to boot!

Trig number 4 on our trigging day out along the Bells Line of Road with pjmpjm. A quick scramble up the hill and there was the trig in pretty good condition, as a bonus the original trig mark is still there and well marked with an unnumbered Survey Marker found by pjmpjm while we were looking for remnants of the previous mast which was replaced on September 25, 1980. We found only a small part of the support plate.

Found together with rogerw3 on an afternoon's trig hunting expedition along Bells Line of Road.

We parked at a convenient spot and scrambled up to the top of Mt. Charles, only to find another, older trig and an unnumbered NSW State Survey Marker!

Great view and great finds!

Definitely worth 'Three Thumbs Up' for the 'double trig' experience and view on a beautiful winter's day . . .

Brilliant Trig.
Needed to be careful to scramble to the top, but well worth the stop.

Loved it

A brisk autumn n morning; perfect day for a ride on the Bandit and a few trigs. Clambered up to Charles for some great views and an easy find.
