#GA1318 - 15:20; Day 3 of a caching mission in and around Sydney with Sol de lune. We were now headed back closer to the city from Blacktown when we stopped off for me to grab this trig. TFTC Geocaching Australia
I used to live close to here. Luckily for me the grass had been cut recently. Was able to just move some cuttings & open to find the name. Photo of my foot & shadow with the hole. The iphone is my GPS.

This one opened easily for me and I was expecting a 6 digit number. Didn't expect what I got...

Where do the local council workers go to eat lunch on a good day? About 10 metres from this trig as it turns out. Still grabbed a photo, but no way was I going to try and open it.

found the cover but couldn't read the name on opening

Upon arrival to GZ, I figured this must be a earth pin in a box in which it was. A simple find and some good views!
Quickly found after going through the great composers of Europe (Mozart Strret, Beethoven Street, etc etc). Interestingly, the Pearce family cemetery is quite nearby and makes an interesting complement to this trig (see GC3R2VX). Found at 12:59 pm.

Been a while since this was last found, and the intervening months had made it quite hard as it was covered over with dirt. In the end I spotted it by checking a spot that wasn't covered with grass, and a bit of scraping with my shoe revealed the survey hatch. A bit more scraping and levering with a key and I could get it open to grab the snap of my shoe at the hole.
What a great spot and a delight to discover the hatch precisely at the given co-ords. The long grass made things a little challenging but the prize was uncovered reasonably quickly.

Haven't done a Trig for a while and while getting a cache nearby, I decided to go for it. The rain started AGAIN, as I parked metres from GZ. Then a woman came out of her house and started watching me...Hmmm.... I just walked onto th grass and started to admire the view down the hill. It was just on dusk with the lights on in the houses in the distance. Pretty cool acutally! Found the PM hatch with coords spot on. Took the pics and then saw the ants all in the hatch and getting into my GPSr. Time to leave. Another Trig done

After the 5th DNF on Bifrost we had to finish the day with a win so headed here. No coords in the GPSr which is odd as I thought I'd put them in there ages ago. Anyway pjmpjm's log was enough to get us there and we found the unusual trig under the round 'SURVEY' hatch. Others like this have been under the square PM hatches. Great view from up here.
This is a great cache to get started on. It was almost so simple that we walked over it a couple of times thinking that it couldn't possibly be the cache he is referring to - but we eventually checked and there it was!

First Trig for the day, an easy find, the PM Cover Box in full view, there is even a painted marking on the road with an arrow pointing to it marked "TS", so no excuse if you miss it!
I do love these with the name plate under the lid.

Found this one right where the co-ordinates said. A great hatch with Pearce engreved.
This one was the surprise of the day!
I pulled up to the bushes lining a little park at the corner of Beethoven Street and Sibelius Close, and pushed through them to find a classic elevated hill -- just the right place for a standard trig.
There were great views in two directions, but the published coordinates had pointed back to the bushes near Beethoven Street.
So I strolled around the hilltop for a bit -- no pedestal evident -- before slowly heading back to the GeoBuru2.
And suddenly, there it was in front of me -- a PM-style hatch! But that wasn't the surprise. Opening the lid, I found the word 'Pearce' engraved on the little plate! What a great discovery! Wish rogerw3 had been there for the occasion.
Anyhow, will upload the usual relevant photos, including one of the view.
Thanks to rogerw3 for tracking down this location. It proved to be only 4-5 metres from the calculated coordinates, according to my Oregon 300.
'Three Thumbs Up' for the views and the name plate.

Published coordinates point to the edge of a park, so this one is a real possibility. Will drive over soon and check it out. Remember that it's supposed to be a 'PM-style' hatch . . .
