Been a while since this was last found, and the intervening months had made it quite hard as it was covered over with dirt. In the end I spotted it by checking a spot that wasn't covered with grass, and a bit of scraping with my shoe revealed the survey hatch. A bit more scraping and levering with a key and I could get it open to grab the snap of my shoe at the hole.
