Description

Bankstown EDM Testline - PM58056

The Surveying and Spatial Information Regulation 2012 requires surveyors to verify their Electronic Distance Measuring (EDM) equipment in relation to the State Primary Standard of measurement, in the form of pillared testlines or baselines, at least once each year and immediately after service and repair.

The Bankstown EDM Testline is a set of four trig points: PM58055-PM58058. The distance between the first and last one is 605.010 meters +/- 0.5 mm.

This information was obtained from http://www.lpi.nsw.gov.au/surveying/surveying_services/edm_baseline_certificates.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and/or yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

Was this way today so taking the short detour to complete these 4 off trigs in a nice park – parked in carpark & did the very short walk to this 1 – many thanks Clan Griffin

There is a series of four trig points which make ujp the Bankstown EDM testline. However at present only two are accessible because the remaining two are behind fencing which appears to be part of a housing project. We were wondering if the two hidden trig points would survive the development work. The second in the line was also located very easily. The required photos have been added to the Gallery. Thanks for the cache.

Out on a caching run today around the Bankstown Area and decided to focus on trig points. This was the second of seven trig finds this morning for the journey or destination game.

Decided to target this nice cluster of trigs on the Bankstown testline. I parked in Buist St and was pleasently surprised at the nice park that greeted me. I continued along from PM58055 across the football field to this one. Arriving at GZ another well maintained trig was found. Again this one has had a new lick of paint since the last find and a change to its headwear. I snapped the required photos and then discovered the CARES centre next door. A great little road/bike education centre where kids can ride around on roads learning about the road rules and how to stay safe! Will definitely have to bring geoboy back here one day.

Thanks for the cache Geocaching Australia

Hoping this find will move me one step closer to the destination, be that either the blue tile or my goal of 100 trigs!

β€œIt is sometimes said [citation needed] that the game of geocaching is not about the destination it is about the journey. This game is about the choices you make in the experience of the journey or the destination.β€œ Find # 7 Journey or Destination games.

Headed to Sydney for a Dr appt and left enough time to do some caching along the way. First stop was a couple of trigs on this test line.

#GA1324 - 18:20; Day 3 of a caching mission in and around Sydney with Sol de lune. We had landed in Bankstown and our second testline for the day. This one was a bit shorter than the earlier one in Blacktown, but we adopted a similar approach, parked at one end and wandered along. TFTC Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

I found the first surveyors buddies! They were sitting around the marker having a chat. Do I walk past and come back later hoping they'd moved or just go and engage? I chose the latter, after all I wasn't giving a hiding location away or anything. It also gave me another opportunity to spruik geocaching. One of the guys had found a few in the Blue Mountains and they were all mildly concerned about the fact that I was walking around Bankstown by myself (it's not that bad really, certainly not at 10:30 in the morning). I grabbed a photo (sans surveyors as I couldn't convince them to pose) and left them to wait for their other mate who's ear I'd bashed earlier.
