Description

WUTTRICK TRIG-68416

This cache consists of only the bronze survey plate which is set in a precast concrete block placed at ground level, but has no trig-station framework above.
The 'Triangulation Station' marker is what makes it a Trig Point, so it's added to the database.

This marker has an associated stamp ID value: 68416

<Driving Instructions>

From "TRAFALGAR" via 'M1/Princess Freeway'
Turn into "Telephone Rd"
Drive towards end of "Telephone Rd"
Turn right "North Canal Rd"
Drive until reaching "Cummings Rd"

<Parking>

Parking available at intersection of "North Canal Rd/Cummings Rd".

Using the web-based "Survey Marks Enquiry Service (SMES)", the Mark and Alternative names have being acquired.
The official name for this cache is "WUTTRICK-YARRAGON PM 68"

Dated: 10/07/1968

<Note>

The trig-plate is located in a rather bushy farming area and a snake was spotted slithering along so wearing long protection against encounters is highly recommended.

Logs

12-Apr-23
The road is closed, so I walked the last 400 m. It was not looking good with all the work being done, but they must have known about the trig because the massive pile of dirt stopped just a metre or so short of it. I found what Tassie Trekkers found. I think it is important to actually find something when claiming a find.

07-Jun-21
Needed a find on my anniversary date and this was the nearest and before it gets wet here

04-Nov-18
I stomped and stomped about and dug through the very long, thick grass (hoping at the same time for no slitheries), looking for the plate, but to no avail. However I took photographs to show it.

25-Apr-17
On a caching morning out with Kato Potato, we happened to be returning from Warragul to home and I requested a drive-by on what I thought was a through-road to Moe. As it turns out, it's only a through-road for illegal, barrier-rounding 4WDs with impressive clearance. Not a good idea for a little VW Jetta so we persued the TP on foot. The coordinates were excellent, of course, and I waded in to the orange marker tape to spy the small pole and happily took photos. TFTC Geocaching Australia and for all the finding work Darsenator.

Thanks to the work done by the previous finder, darsenator, who located, dug the dirt, grass and accumulated debris away from the brass button, put orange marker tape on the fence and provided driving instructions, we were able to locate this trig point today.
We parked near the barrier and walked the short distance to the trig marker. We noticed that the local authorities appear to be planning some development of the road and possibly the canal.
We were glad it was cold and wet today and the snake seen when the previous finder was in the area was well hidden.

Located after nearly 90 minutes of probing but perseverance rewarded.
Orange tape on barb wired fence tied to assist with future spotters.
