As it has been nearly five years since this Trig Point has been found, we decide that as we were at Mallacoota today, we would try to find it. After parking near the boat ramp, we wandered through the small trees and along the edge of the golf course before getting to some scrub. This was harder to negoatiate but after a short time we got to GZ. We found a galvanised post painted red on top (although the red was quite faded). Nearby were the remains of the beacon: the support post and the vanes. These had fallen when the structure of the beacon failed.Although we could not find the survey marker button (buried under sand?), our GPS indicated that GZ was very close to the galvanised iron post with the red paint on top.
