Was visiting my mother in her nursing home yesterday when she asked me to throw out her latest bunch of flowers as they were starting to look a bit sad.
There were a couple of orchids in the arrangement so I grabbed a photo of them before tossing them. They survived much better than the rest of the flowers.
Don't know what kind they are but once I get the photo from my phone on to the laptop I may be able to tell you.
Every year for Mother's Day and her birthday my brother, sister and I throw in some money and the local florist sends her a bunch of fresh flowers every month. What else do you get someone at that stage of their lives? And she always appreciates getting them.

I googled the purple orchids and they came up as moth orchids - whether this is right I don't know.
