Gallery of log for 127 Hours / Degrees
I loaded the main page and saw an image for this cache in the gallery at the bottom. The cache name got me curious so I checked it out. This is interesting. Turns out I satisfy conditions for 1b. I nearly made it for 1a at 126.45°.. so close! I don't qualify for 2. I'm very sure I qualify for 3 but I can't remember the caches.
My GC home coordinates have remained the same since I joined, a bush location near where I used to live. I've moved since I joined GC but I've never changed the coordinates as they are still close.
I have 4 cache finds in two countries with a distance from home at 14,137km +/- 50km.
The closest one to the target is 14135.8km in Israel.
GC2KF7B Sea of Galilee and the Hot Springs
I don't know where to start about that trip other than it was "unforgettable". Gun fire and a petrol bomb landing 5m away from my cab will do that. I was there in 2013 when the Syrian war was at full-noise. There were virtually no tourists in this region during the time I was there. I got close to the Syrian border via Golan Heights. I remember the northern border being covered in mines. I was kind-of working and kind-of not so I wasn't solo for a lot of the time I was in that region which made things more challenging. Lots of memories flooding in and not all good haha. I just remembered nearly punching-on with an Israeli soldier in a town called Elat in the south of the country because he thought it was okay to steal my breakfast. I managed to find a few caches which was great. Unfortunately I couldn't get one when in Palestine. I think they only had 4 at the time and I had other priorities in that part of the journey. I may return one day. An interesting note about the above cache is when standing on dry ground at GZ you are 200+m BELOW sea level. Thanks for the cache.
