Gallery of log for Stained Glass Windows
I was up at St John Of God hospital and saw this beautiful stained glass sky light. On Dec 1810 Governor Lachlan MacQuarie was touring the settelement. On the 1st of December he visited Richmond Hill, Kurra Jong Bush and Richmond Terrace. He called into Lt Bell and Mrs Bells farm Belmont which was built on Richmond Hill. This is the hill south and east of North Richmond (the original township below Richmond Hill was called Enfield, changed later that century to avoid confusion with Enfield closer to Sydney. He observed in his journal what a beautiful view of the lowlands towards Windsor and Penrith. The property remained in the Bell family till 1849, it was subdivided and eventually purchased by Phillip Charley in 1889. He built the current Belmont House for 56,000 pounds. The Duke of Windsor stayed there in 1929. in 1951 the Brothers of St John of God purchased the place and built the hospital.
The stained glass skylight is under the corridor that opens into four corridors the northish one leads to the, then front entrance, the other three spread out to the home.
