Logs for Bragger407

This is one of those caches I just never thought I would be able to add to my smileys. I didn't think I would have a reason to be in Kansas, and while it wouldn't be too far-fetched for me to make a special trip to get a special cache, I finished my Jasmer earlier this year. A double Jasmer never crossed my mind, so I didn't put Mingo very high on the priority list.

Then my husband and I planned a cross-country RV trip, the longest trip we have ever taken. (And so far we still like each other, with a week to go.) A friend and fellow geocacher asked if I planned to get Mingo on our trip , and it honestly had never occurred to me. I had routed our RV trip, though, so out of curiosity I decided to check it out.

Our route went RIGHT BY Mingo. Did I need a better sign that it was meant to be? I don't think so.

Today we were traveling from Goodland to Dodge City, and I put it on the schedule. Hubby was in a good mood because we are on the last leg of the trip, and I tried to convey the importance of Mingo to him. (He's not a grump, he's just a homebody. Married to a gypsy. We have to compromise.)

It was a highly emotional moment when I signed that log. We left the dogs in the RV and parked at the little gas station rather than risking the dirt road. Hubby did agree to accompany me, and while he balked at having his photo taken at first (he doesn't want to be accused of being "one of those crazy people), he finally agreed.

I guess now the only thing left to do is complete a second Jasmer loop. Because that's what we do, right?

Thanks so much for the smiley, the huge milestone, and the convenient placement. Because I know it was all done with me in mind.

I am fond of this type of puzzle, but I had never seen this particular one before. I am fascinated. It was very frustrating for me at first, but I (finally) got the hang of it. If COVID ever ends and we are able to travel again, I would love to search for this one. Especially after all the hard work I put in. Thanks for the mental exercise!

After several years of “meaning to” get this one, and missing several group excursions to get it, I paddled here alone today and FINALLY out my name on the log. It fills a hole in my Jasper chart, and I’m hoping the GGA folks will let it count toward challenge #15. But even if it doesn’t, it’s a beautiful day to be on the water.

And any day is a good day not to have to work. Thanks for this cherished OLD cache.

I have had this on my radar for a looooooong time, but I’ve never searched for it on any of the gazillion trips to this area. Now I’m glad I waited ... the current GGA challenge is to find caches with a lot of favorite points. This one gets me halfway to “extreme” all by itself. And it fills a hole in my Jasmer chart, which I’m not pursuing with any diligence right now, but it’s a bonus.

Adding my own favorite point for the find, the gorgeous (and quiet) walk, and the perfect coordinates. Well done!

Biking and caching again today. Apparently lost my pen out of my bike bag, but did find it! Thanks for #28 in August.
