Logs for BushTurkeyGal

Had a stop for the interesting amenities but sadly did not find on this occasion
TFTC - nice shady spot on a hot summer's afternoon, found with assistance of geokid#1 who thought today was the day of the insects - fortunately NOT being bitten by anything at this site & Rockstarllw who is much more enthusiastic. Lovely memorial to Ocean Shores locals - Helene & Robbie Saltzman - whose community-oriented lives were tragically taken at the Port Arthur massacre.
TFTC Found it by scratching around like my namesake - and then itching the mozzie bites after the prime target (geokid#1) retreated to the car! TNLN - just my scratchings...

An easy find on way home early on new year's day and not a soul in sight - log very wet so dried it out a bit in the sun before signing - needs a new zip lock bag for weather protection.

Unfortunately this cache has been disturbed - I found the lid lying on the old train platform and nothing else!

After many years of driving past decided to stop and have a coffee (and the kids a rather expensive banana smoothie!)... anyway - we found the empty tin with its magnet, but not in it's spot... put it back up on the gal pipe - maybe another day!

Thought of this cache when I heard about the recent fire and loss of another piece of Northern Rivers' heritage.

First nano and easily found by observant geoson; compact nature of log caused amusement to engineer friend [B-)] who hates heights and remained off-road. Signed log. TFTC
Swaps were swimming so drained the water off; log book fine inside ziplock bag. TNLN TFTC

Beautiful day on the north coast with views for miles. Have never stopped at the notoriously tight corner, in spite of having 'taken' it over many years before the coastal development relocated the coast road westwards. Took geoson and engineering friend to show him his first cache - anything being possible sans a GPS! Signed log while local dogwalkers were out and about. TNLN

Sent the geokids in to get the stash on a lovely sunny afternoon with hardly any muggles about.
TN but left a pencil for future log signers.

Being curious, I thought I'd try my skill at eyeballing my first one at my favourite local swimming spot ... sans any GPS (just to make it interesting). Went looking for a rock to warm up on after a high tide swim on a sunny Saturday afternoon with lots of muggle sunbathers, swimmers & fishers... and there it was! [:-)] TFTC/TNLN.
The upside of having lots of people in the vicinity of the rock wall is a reduced likelihood of disturbing a brown snake. I followed it up with a reminiscing walk around the local reserve, a 5 ha piece of reclaimed river mouth that is slowly diversifying into a piece of coastal bushland. This reserve is more overgrown than 15-20 years ago when push bikes were able to be easily ridden around the perimeter.
Note: Dogs are not permitted in this reserve or along the park/beachfront south of the river to the surf club. About 200m of beach accessible from the southern side of the surf club (as far as the nature reserve sign) is the approved dog walking area.
