Logs for Fallin'

15-Oct-19
Musical Note and I are working our way south to Florida. When I put the plan together, I found that this cache, placed in August 2000 was almost on our route, so we diverted to make the find. The day was threatening rain, but we made it to the cache and back before the skies released any rain. Thanks for placing and maintaining this oldie. I am hoping to eventually get my Double Fizzy and this one helps. I am giving it a favorite as well.

When I found out last March that I would end up in Seattle on our family vacation, I made arrangements to stay for an extra week. I asked Musical Note if she'd like to fly out to meet my sister and I, as I knew she'd want to go the HQ. But besides that, I explained, I really wanted to do the APE cache. Today we headed out on the trek. It went very smoothly and we enjoyed the differences we felt in the climate. We made our way to the cache, found it, and signed the log. Pictures were taken, of course, to mark the momentous occassion. Thanks for maintaining this one (or two) of a kind cache. It gets a favorite point for sure.

A year ago, Musical Note figured out that this was the closest cache to us to fill in the last Jasmer square we needed. We were going to try to fit in a weekend trip from Grand Rapids, MI to get it. But when we stopped to think it was hunting season, we thought we better postpone it. We planned a different trip this summer and at last, that time has come. We parked the cachemobile and set off on our journey. As we walked, I noted the healty poison ivy along the way. We approached the cache and found the geotrail. Rats! It was very muddy. We were not to be denied, so I just plowed forward. The tops of my shoes got muddy and wet, but overall, I faired well. Musical Note... not so much. Anyway, we made the find. I grabbed the lone TB to commemorate the find. Thanks so much for maintaining this old cache. It fills my Jasmer. Now I have all four grids filled. I'm giving it a favorite.

Musical Note and I put together a trip centered on Arkansas. This was one of the primary goals to get to find another oldest state cache. This was the easiest one we found, but it is very well done. We figured out the access, traded TB's, signed the log and took a few pictures. I think this makes nine oldest caches we have found. TFTC I'll give it a favorite.

My family and I are visiting the various sights in the National Parks. This was a great stop... and very educational. Thanks for setting up the earth cache. Email has been sent.

I had hoped to swap out a few TB's indicated in this cache, but there was only one. I left 3 TB's, but couldn't fit them in the container, so I left them in the bag. This was a very interesting area. TFTC

This is Whitefish Point Lighthouse which is located north of Paradise, Michigan. This light, the oldest active on Lake Superior, began operating in 1849, though the present tower was constructed later. Early a stopping place for Indians, voyageurs, and Jesuit missionaries, the point marks a course change for ore boats and other ships navigating this treacherous coastline to and from St. Mary's Canal.

There is an interesting maritime museum located at this site, which includes a lot of info on the Edmund Fitzgerald.
