Logs for Jon Smith
23-Mar-24
Phone GPS was jumping around a bit. Didn't have much time to search. Will return with my Garmin GPS, and have a look another time. Often at the park with my son, so will attempt again soon.
Riding the perimeter bike with my 6 yo son on his new bike (with gears). He was already excited, as this is the first time he'd managed to ride up the hill to the lookout without stopping. He was even more pleased with himself when he spotted this cache before me.Just one thing. I'd say this is a "small" cache, and not a "micro" (which is better in my opinion) TFTC SpatialRiq. Jon Smith and Son.

Attempted this. on 25th Feb 24I have logged this cache before years ago (before Tonkin extension)Since then, there is no longer access from Marangaroo Drive or Beechboro rd end.Others have mentioned the Lakefarm Retreat access, which I attempted, however there is now a big chainlink fence running the entire length here, souht of the East/West Maintenance Track, with no way through. I walked the whole fence section between Marangaroo Drive, and the property boundary to the East - no way through. Not sure if this cache is still accessible?

Australia Day Find! The last couple of logs said it was wedged in the hiding spot, but a bit of wiggling and I managed to get it free and signed the log.TFTC

Son off school with a bug. Feeling ok, but keeping him away from other kids/people in case he's contagious. Perfect day for Geocaching.
Park was really quiet, but no luck here for us today.
Last two logs were DNF, so will keep an eye on future logs, come for another attempt if others find it.
Thanks all the same.

This Cache got compromised/taken
There aren't really any other decent hiding spots in the area, so have decided not to replace.

On the way back from the Tip.
Had no idea this place existed.
Almost fooled by the "decoy" container.

Wet and windy afternoon - my 5 year old son was driving us both crazy inside, so we went Geocaching.
Second one I found of yours today familysteiner - thanks for the hide, and thanks for the big container: don't know why people put micro's in bush areas - this was much better!

Wet and windy afternoon - this was our third for the day, but it started raining, so we beat a hasty retreat without looking too hard- will return another time.

As others had said - someone has taken the box, all the stuff was emptied on the ground. The log book was in a torn zip lock bag, plenty of room left, but mildly damp.
I read the logs beforehand, so I took an old caching container with me that got burnt in a bushfire years ago, giving it a cool rusted camouflage. Unfortunately, I didn't notice until I was setting it up that it has rusted through in a couple of places. leaving some pinholes holes. Not ideal, but better than the previous situation.
I put all the stuff inside, and covered it as best as I could with available materials - probably gonna log a Maintenance request for this - replace with a waterproof container and dry out the logbook. I don't know why no-one has done this already...?
Regardless - thanks for the cache - I like these suburban bush areas.

Container was missing, logbook left on ground and is wet.
I replaced the contained with an old one I had, but it has a hole in it (didn't realise til I started putting stuff in it).
Suggest replacing the container, and drying logbook.

This is the great thing about Geocaching - it takes you to places you'd probably never find otherwise!
I've been past Zamia Station many times before, but never noticed this shady little path disappearing into the trees.
My 5 year old son and I were out on our bikes doing a lap of the park, and this was a quick find for us.
Am gonna return with my wife another time, and we'll all walk the Wunanga Trail.
TFTC and thanks for bringing us here.

Second find for us today on our bike ride.
My little boy was straight in there digging though the bark - he's getting a good eye for this.

Cache has gone missing. Looks like the shire had a clean up in the area, and I reckon a worker maybe found it?
I'll see if I can reinstall.

I'd heard there was a well here somewhere, but never went looking for it, so thanks for bringing me here.
Coordinates were jumping around a bit, had a hard time finding it.
Read a few of the other comments, and got a few hints. As someone else said, have a seat and look around. It's well tucked away, even when you find the right stump.
Logbook was full, luckily we keep spares in the trusty geocaching kit, so added a new one. Always good to carry spare logs, pen and tweezers with you.
Nice to see a decent sized container, seems such a shame when people put micro's out in the bush. Plenty of room to hide bigger ones.
Went for a swim in the pool after. Perfect for a hot, Feb day off work.

I've worked in Bullsbrook for about 17 years, and driven past here every time I go to work, and yet this is the first time I have ever visited (thanks to Geocaching)
What a lovely old building.
Thanks for bringing me here.
A favorite point from me.

Interesting spot.
Took us a while to find a break on the bushes to get through.

Did not find.
Couldn't see the tree stump from the photo next to the railings, and there were some different colour brick pavers there, suggesting maybe the stump has been removed?
Can the cache owner check it's still there.

Great hide.
Appreciate the effort that went into making it.
Unfortunately, the container no longer fits together nicely.
Would be invisible if it fit together properly.
Favorite Point given.

Up at Kalbarri for the week.
Rented a boat for a couple of hours. Checked the Geocaching app, and glad to see some caches directly across from the boat rental place.
An easy find. Always nice to get some smiley faces in new locations.

I've been visiting this area for about 10 years, but for some reason, I've not tried this Geocache til now.
A cracking spot, with some impressive boulders and views.
Unfortunately, this cache had been muggled - the container was out in the open with the lid off, and full of rainwater, which had soaked the logbook and the stuff inside.
Luckily, I carry spares with my Geocaching kit, so I dried the container with some tissues, and added a new logbook. I took all the other stuff home in a bag, as there wasn't time to dry it all, and I didn't want to draw any more attention by leaving the toys etc near the cache container.
I hid it back in its logical place, but I'm guessing youngsters use this spot for, erm, recreational activities (campfires, beer cans and nangs in the area), so I reckon the hiding place has been discovered.
Maybe log owner should keep an eye on future logs, and change location if it gets discovered again.
Regardless, tftc and for bringing us to this beautiful spot.
