Logs for McYeo

14-Aug-08
This one was supposed to be just 90m from my gorgeous hotel room window (give or take 20 storeys) - so I went out to have a look for it 3 times today! First time 3 people were sat having a chat in the circle, next time I came back some trampy looking bloke was feeding the pigeons bread and beer! Came back again later and found nothing, found the 'green metallic trees' and stepped up but still couldn't see anything cache-like Sad

Found after visiting the nearby Museum of Contemporary Art, I won't mention what my wife thought of it!

Found Joseph Conrad, author of one of my favourite novels - Heart of Darkness. I will upload the photo once I've downloaded it from my wifes camera.

Did this after visting the aquarium and maritime museum. Enjoyed the challenge, almost gave up on it until I noticed it through a gap. It was much more obvious when viewed from a different angle!

Nice easy find while strolling around the gardens. Took Geocoin to help travel around the world and dropped off one of my own to start its adventures.
Left TB in there as I wouldn't be able to help it move around Oz as I'm going back to rainy old England at the end of the week.

Nice easy find for an urban micro! Wish they were all as straightforward as this!

After scrabbling around above the road, I eventually found it, well I should really say them, as there were two containers. One very wet, the other is fine. Took lots of photos of the great views.

Found easily, but not so easy to extract from its hiding place!

Found the oak easily enough and a couple of likely hiding spots, but no cache!

Came here after a morning at nearby Mossman Gorge. Really nice beach with good views across to Port.
Found cache fairly easily, although the decorative items in the vicinity made me think that it may have been muggled!
Thankfully it was safe and sound, although rather damp, I don't think the bag is helping much.

Gorgeous area, glad I got up early to visit as I was able to find the cache without disturbance, however the lid was rusted and I couldn't get it off! The contents of the cache look wet through too. So it could do with some TLC.
Took some photos from the nearby viewpoint that I will load up later. On my way back from the rainforest trail, the area was heaving - muggles galore!

Found all the clues pretty easily, but the final wasn't so straightforward as I took the wrong path which led to an exhausting trek uphill. When I realised my error and got back down to the 'path' to the cache site it was getting close to dusk and I passed a group of Aborigines doing a spot of fishing and having a sing-song by a fire. It all added up to an interesting trek around the sites of 'Port'.

Came down to the beach from our hotel that was a short stroll away. While my wife sunbathed I just had to go looking for the cache.
Found the creek and waded across tentatively (I'm paranoid about coming across a Saltie or a some other deadly critter)eventually found the cache, and I got a fright as a small lizard darted away from underneath the cache as I pulled away the wood covering it.

On returning towards the beach I noticed large pointed footprints with sharp claws, leading from the creek towards the sea!!! That's enough for me - I'm sticking to the hotel swimming pool from now on!
