Logs for SSF Girls on the Go

Initially we had to make a detour away from this one as there were too many Cub muggles roaming the surrounding area. After our detour to find another GC, we came back and played on the playground, to make ourselves less obvious, while one member did a reconnaissance mission to ensure no muggles were around nor were likely to make an appearance while we were locating! On making our way to the search site, we soon discovered that the co-ordinates are a loose guide and the Guides have nothing to do with this Scout GC. Thanks to lots of small people in our group and squeezing into less accessible places, we soon found the cache. It is an extra small cache and shouldn't be confused with anything larger. Keep your eyes peeled and you'll find it. Thanks Tjay and Raptor - a very satisfying find!
An easy find for our second cache of the night. We decided that this cache needs to be marked as BYOT - ie bring your own tweezers as the pencil was difficult to get out. However, with the assistance of the First Aid kid - a useful anti-muggle scam - we were able to get the pencil out and sign the log.
This was our first cache for the night, due to our original first cache being swarmed with muggles in the area. A quick detour to this one allowed time for the other one to clear. The hint was helpful - as long as you have a bit of age on your side! Our young ones didn't have a clue! However, with a bit of guidance from the oldies, this cache was quickly found.

Easy find for our first cache of the year - helps having tall people!
Sadly this one was nowhere to be found. One person in our group has found this one before and believes the cache may have tired of the race and headed off on its own.
A bit of a challenge at first as the girls found one in a similar place two years ago. Once they realised they had to go to a slightly different place, it was an easy find. Just need to teach a bit more stealth! Thankfully no muggles around.

Day Two of our GB Camp and after heaps of walking the day before, we had a quiet day at the bach. However, we had just enough time before going to the wharf for the water taxi to fit this cache in.
Took a bit of looking but when we got on track (or off track) it was a quick find.
Our only complaint - there aren't enough geocaches over on the Islington Bay side of Rangitoto! Something we all need to rectify.
Thanks to Pinball Wizard for this one!

GB Camp at Islington Bay started with a hike from Rangitoto Wharf to Islington Bay via the top - so some Geocaching was called for to keep motivation up!
Number 4 cache before we hit the top of the mountain - we carefully made our way to find this cache which was being guarded well by a spider or two. El Capitain pulled out her stick sword and fought her way past the spiders to grab the cache! No spider is a match for us

Cache number 3 for the day - nice and easy but brought our group a few laughs as the girl who found it picked it up said "Here it is...Eeww no it's not, it's rubbish" and threw it down on the ground. Thankfully, El Capitain quickly checked and we didn't lose the cache!

Our second cache for the day which was slightly out of the way but worth looking for. Found it very easily as it hadn't been rehidden properly and was visible to those in the know from the road. Had to pretend to be tired and needing a rest as there were muggles on the loose as we were trying to fill in the log. Thank goodness for daypacks that you can hide things behind!

This was our first GC for the day - good easy one to get the girls going. Next was a visit to the Museum Bach - well worth having a look at - makes a good combo.

I'm sure the natives wondered what had happened when we arrived - kids make lots of noise! No doubt they were also relieved that we weren't getting on the ferry with them! Quick pow-wow and we all made no effort to look until all the muggles had left. Great lateral thinking by the kids meant this ended up being a fairly quick but satisfying find.
Take a bunch of girls near water and where do they look? In the water. However, with some lateral thinking once they decrypted the clue and some good observation, it ended up being an easy find.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Last but not least before it got too dark tonight. Easy find although it was pretty obvious as possibly not put back in the same way as when El Capitain found it last year. So it has been slotted back in so it's a little less obvious.
Log is completely full so a new log needs to be put in.

The second of our hunts for tonight and this one was a bit harder as El Capitan (our esteemed leader) had never done this one before. Discovered that you have to think outside the V to solve the puzzle of the Square... oops, we mean think outside the square to solve the puzzle of the V. But crack it we did!
Another quick find - which was good as we had to get back to base quick! TFTC
We do love anything around trees as no one bats an eyelid when a whole bunch of kids are running around! Easy to fool the muggles. Quick find but great for getting everyone to think about the clue. TFTC

Bit rushed for time but one pair of eyes found it! Then came the mission of getting it out - Mr Long Legs couldn't pull it out! Took the expert Captain to get it
