Oops! I meant to re-enable this cache at least a week ago!

Well, as it turns out, it actually isn't French Toast Day today at this venue, but c'est la vie. It was still a nice venue to meet a goodly crowd of cachers from far and wide and spend an hour or more chatting away. The atmosphere inside was energetic, and I feel like a lot of us really enjoyed the bon homie and entente cordiale between COs and those looking for a nudge SmileThanks for setting it up.

{FTF} @ 07:02One of the things I've missed since moving back home from the last few years spent lodging in the Hutt, is the rush of a new publication, and the associated mad dash out of the door to try for the FTF. That used to happen a lot for me, and whilst there has been a lot of recent activity in the general Kapiti area, I'm at a geographical disadvantage compared with the usual local suspects SmileSo this morning I awoke and checked for messages, as is my usual routine, and spotted a new cache had been published at 2am lol. I sat down with my laptop and a coffee and had a crack at it. OK, 1 red herring spotted... and then a second one....but still no green tick. Hmmm, well my co-ords look promising so why not head out for a drive anyway?Arriving at what I hoped would be GZ, there were still no "found it" logs. The find itself was straightforward, and I was rewarded with a nicely blank logbook - excellent! I made my mark, and then replaced all as found before heading home to a freshly brewed coffee Very HappyThanks for yet another piece of the whale, I'm slowly getting there Smile

Whilst I don't eat it myself, that doesn't prevent me from dropping in to say hi Smile

25-Nov-24
I'm on the Mana Island trip that same day, but I reckon we will be back in time for me to attend this event too Very Happy

Well, there's no harm in doing a maintenance run on my caches is there :p

Joint {FTF} @ 21:32 with YetiNZ and the Seagnoid.I came down to Wellington this afternoon to attend an event in the CBD, and of course to catch up with friends etc. That meant that I happened to be in the area when this new cache got published, which was fortuitous as I qualified for it so was keen to make the find.Looking at where it was on the map, I knew I'd been along there in the past (May 2020) caching a series put out by another mate of mine, so knew where to park up to walk to it. A bit of a shame that the howling southerly was quite biting, but at least there was no rain.Looking at the name of the cache makes me wonder if there will be more of these...Thanks for putting this one out tonight SmileIn this instance, I'm claiming qualification of both optional criteria;[TwigNZ](https://www.geocaching.com/profile/?u=TwigNZ) has used [Project-GC](https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GCB0HV6/94174 "Project-GC Challenge Checker") to see if they qualified for this challenge and they did.Complete:7 type with difficulty=1.5GCEE0 found on 2018-10-20 - Mount Victoria (Wellington, Wellington) Virtual CacheGC2P4Y2 found on 2017-11-11 - Where have all the golf balls gone? Out and about this evening with the Seagnoid, and we both realised that neither of us had found this cache previously so stopped here to grab it.Quite an exposed location for a cache, but perhaps less exposed at night (fewer cars). No problems making the find, signing the log, and replacing as found. Thanks for setting this one up.

20-Nov-24
I will now try to be there, but not guaranteed at this point...

I'd looked for this cache once before, when asked by the Seagnoid to lend a hand with one he'd had a few difficulties getting the requisite info for. Together we had sorted that aspect out, but then the cache was actually missing.Today I was passing by and so decided to get the blue frown off my map. So effectively a quick park 'n' grab for me here today. No issues to report, and I was soon back on my way again. Thanks for setting this one up.

Today I'm attempting to find the entire Viking Helmet geoart series in a day, aided and abetted by jeanjeanie and LNM1961.Having just spent an hour doing a round trip to get a solitary cache in that series (number 46), we stopped by this one as a sort of extra prize to help feel like that hour was worth it. I did most of the '52 on 52' series over 6 years ago, so it was good to stop to find one of the last remaining ones for me. A quick find, and we were soon back on our way again.

Thank you for putting this one out.

I have spent the entire day in the company of jeanjeanie and LNM1961 as we have driven around a lot of rural Manawatu/Hawkes Bay doing the Viking Helmet geoart series. And now we are on the long drive back to Palmerston North, tired but happy. But there's always time for 'just one more' and so with both jj and I wanting to get this one we pulled over to make the quick find.Thank you for putting this one out.

Apologies for the generic "cut 'n' paste" nature of this log, but any pertinent comments specific to this cache can be found in bold at the bottom of this log.Crikey, where to begin with this Geoart series? Well I guess you start at the start, with the solving of the puzzles. When a whole bunch of puzzles gets published en masse, the only thing you can do is roll up your sleeves and get stuck in. Luckily work was fairly quiet when these came out, as I do have to admit to sneaking regular time solving these during working hours before heading home and getting really stuck in.So then, I have some 60 sets of solved co-ordinates, but they are not exactly just up the road from me. But I'll get around to finding them soon...or so I thought. Almost 2 years have passed since then, and many of my friends have gone and found them. Wanting to find this set during November to help me with my ongoing streak mission, I put a general call out to the geocaching community on facebook, and got a few positive responses. I was in favour of doing the whole thing over 2 days, but few others were. Could it be done in 1 day? Others had succeeded, so that became the plan and once I'd figured out a date, those positive responses were whittled down to 2 others, one of whom had completed the entire series bar 2 caches, and was happy to come along just to get those 2.And so to today. We set off from Palmy at around 7am, wondering when we might get back. As it turned out, we did succeed in getting the entire series in a single day, albeit a day that was 14 hours long and covered approximately 425km home to home. But we had fantastic weather for it, and fantastic scenery, and the 3 of us made the most of each others company, energy, and camaraderie to ensure a successful day both in terms of caches and enjoyment. My thanks goes to both jeanjeanie and LNM1961 for joining me today and making the day so much more than just a numbers run, and then to watcache for creating the whole series with all the effort that goes into such an endeavour Smile***This was one of the two caches wanted by LNM1961 to complete the series for her. I'm not sure where the Hint is supposed to be directing us to, but there's a bit of a geotrail that led us to ultimately make a quick find here today, and we all had a bit of a 'yay' moment for her completion. No issues to report with this cache, and the log soon had 3 new names on it before everything was placed back as found***

We were aware of the 2 previous DNFs, and so we knew we might be in for a bit of a hunt, even with a previous finder in our midst. In the end, we spent about 40 minutes thoroughly searching the area, both in line with where our devices were taking us, what LNM1961 remembered, what we gleaned from reading previous logs, and talking on the phone to a recent finder. All in vain as the cache could not be found. I tried to then contact the CO to see if he's like us to replace it for him. We didn't get an initial reply, so decided to do it anyway on the basis that we could always not claim the find if our actions were not approved. Approval was given a little bit later after we had left the area, hence this found log.So the replacement cache is a white double containered pill bottle. It's not camo'd, so should be easy to spot once you are in the right spot. Where placed, all our devices were reading within a couple of metres. It's ground level, at the base of a shrub. The CO has a photo of the location***

For one thing, from reading previous logs, we knew we ought to get a good vista, and we did. But was it a view worth an hour return journey for? Everyone's view will be different, and my view was that it a a good view, but really no different from a hundred other viewpoints we drove past today. It really was a great deal of effort to get here for a single cache, and I'm left wondering why. There would be 2 other instances of having to go greatly out of our way to get caches in this series, but in those instances there were 3 and 5 caches respectively to get, which made them feel more 'worth it' even if the views were not so good. Anyway, LNM1961 made the find here as this was one of the two caches she wanted to get today, and once the log soon had 3 new names on it it was placed back as found and we stopped to have a coffee break before heading back the way we had come***

My thanks goes to both jeanjeanie and LNM1961 for joining me today and making the day so much more than just a numbers run, and then to watcache for creating the whole series with all the effort that goes into such an endeavour Smile***A very quick find here thanks to the specific Hint.No problems to report here, and the log soon had 2 new names on it before everything was placed back as found***

I wish we could say that she only found the cache, but with some people being such grubby buggers, she also found a large quantity of bottle, cans and other assorted discarded crap which all went into the boot of my car as we CITO'd our way through today. No other problems to report here, and the log soon had 2 new names on it before everything was placed back as found***

My thanks goes to both jeanjeanie and LNM1961 for joining me today and making the day so much more than just a numbers run, and then to watcache for creating the whole series with all the effort that goes into such an endeavour Smile***Another decent sized cache (most of them were). Many of our hunts today would have jeanjeanie heading to one spot with me heading to another nearby. Let's just say that my ROI for effort was better than 'break even' :p No problems to report here, and the log soon had 2 new names on it before everything was placed back as found***

The only issue for her was avoiding the large Thistle cache guardian SmileNo problems to report here, and the log soon had 2 new names on it before everything was placed back as found***

Not an issue as such, but in this case it was only when I found the cache and opened it did I realise that the log is quite fragile and could do with replacing, but that my kit was still back at the car. So next finder would do well to replace the logsheet on this one***
