Eddyville, Iowa
This quarry is located west of Eddyville, Iowa. I come down here once a month for a Girl Scout leader's meeting and always pass by. Decided today was the day to stop. The quarry is Douds Stone, Inc.

No sign of any big pit. Just the front gate and sign that says it is a quarry.

Cinder Path - Chariton, Iowa

It's been a long time since I have been on this path. Biked it with my Girl Scouts many years ago.

I was doing some research on the path to get permission to place some caches there and found out that it is a "Rails-To-Trails" area.

Had a Girl Scout leader's meeting tonight in Chariton, so thought it would be a good time to pick this cache up.

This is the info that I found about the Cinder Path.
With the purchase of the abandoned railroad right-of-way from the Burlington Northern Railroad Company in 1974, the Cinder Path became the first "Rails-To-Trails" area in the State of Iowa. Beginning on the western edge of Chariton and ending in Humeston, the trail meanders for 13.5 miles through river, woodland, prairie habitats and over a covered bridge. Open to the public year round, the smooth cinder surface and even grade make the Cinder Path ideal for hikers, bikers and snowmobilers.

Osceola, Iowa
I found this totem pole at the Clarke County Historical Museum while here for a Civil War Re-enactment that my son was involved in. I have driven by here many times and never saw the totem pole. It has a huge eagle at the very top.

This was a cool cache to do. Very easy and I didn't have to do any bushbashing. TFTC
