We (Tricia.L.McMillan and I) found this cache while we were on our vacation in New Zealand and drove down and up again through the entire country.
After some hiking on Mt Taranaki and a visit to the Tupare Garden. we headed back into New Plymouth to visit the bridge, while we still had some daylight. Unfortunately it was a very cloudy day, so we didn't get to see Mt Taranaki through the wave of the bridge.
The cache was quickly found but logging turned out to be a bit more difficult because a lot of cyclists, joggers and walkers were passing by, so we had to wait a bit, until there was no one around anymore.
We also left TB5HG12 here, though it was a bit tricky getting it in the container. I hope the next person had no problem retrieving it.
This was also turned out to be our last geocache in New Zealand.
Thanks for taking care of the cache.

After some hiking on Mt Taranaki, we headed back to New Plymouth, but stopped for a walk to the Tupare Garden. While we were the, we also went looking for this cache, but the GPS was very jumpy, the potential search area offered a lot of good hiding placed and the hint wasn't very helpful for us, so after some searching we gave up and went on. If we are ever in New Zealand/New Plymouth/Tupare again, we might attempt this a second time.

We (Tricia.L.McMillan and I) found this cache while we were on our vacation in New Zealand and drove down and up again through the entire country.
After some hiking on the base of Ngauruhoe, we went back to the car a bit earlier than expected, since we both had a slight cold and were not in proper physical condition for a long hiking trip. With the extra time, we drove up the Bruce Road to Iwikau Village on the base of Ruapehu. Once we arrived there, the lift was already closed, so we just had a picnic close by and with the setting sun, we drove back down. We stopped to take a look at the waterfalls and then to go for this cache. By that time it was almost dark, making the search a bit more difficult, but after some searching Tricia quickly found the container and we could sign the log.
Thanks for leading us here and for teaching us about the mounds.

After some hiking on the base of Ngauruhoe, we returned to our hostel in Ohakune. Since it was the first saturday of the month, we went in the town center for some Guinness, a tradition which we usually practice every month with our friends at our local pub. But there is no reason to skip this tradition for a month even if we are halfway around the globe. As usual at 10 at night we toasted with two glasses and had our picture taken, which we to send to our friends who would do this 10 hours later.
On our way back to the hostel, we stopped by the Signal Box to search for the cache. The other times we went by it, it was still relatively early and there were muggles around. After some searching, we found it and were able to sign it.
Thanks for the cache and for showing us this house.

We (Tricia.L.McMillan and I) found this cache while we were on our vacation in New Zealand and drove down and up again through the entire country.
One of the motivations for coming to NZ was the 10 hour commercial from the New Zealand tourism office called "Lord of the Rings". We also got a location guide and where ever we were close to any of the movie locations, we would go there. So when we were in Wellington and the Hutt area, we visited several of the sights. One of them was the River Anduin were we discovered that there is an entire cache series about the locations. So we walked along the banks of the River Anduin (a.k.a. Te Awa Kairangi or Hutt River), imagined Hobbits floating along on their boats, and also went looking for the cache, which was quickly found and logged.
Since we still had around 4 hours of driving left for this day, the only other cache from that series that we went for was Isengard, before heading further up north.
Thanks for connecting two of our hobbies and leading us here.

Since we didn't have much time left, the only other cache from that series that we attempted was this one. We walked along the park, tried to image orks cutting down trees (which was very hard, especially with the sunny weather), found and logged the cache and restored the wall a bit.
Thanks for leading us here and combining to of our hobbies.

We (Tricia.L.McMillan and I) found this cache while we were on our vacation in New Zealand and drove down and up again through the entire country.
After staying in Nelson, we needed to get back to Picton to catch our Ferry. But since we had a little extra time left, we decided to take the scenic Queen Charlotte Drive from Havelock to Picton. On our way, we looked at the GPS and saw that there was a cache close by, so we decided to stop and go for a quick walk. We really enjoyed the view and after a little searching found the cache.
Thanks for making us stop at such a nice location.

We (Tricia.L.McMillan and I) found this cache while we were on our vacation in New Zealand and drove down and up again through the entire country.
On our way from Westport to Nelson, we decided to make a little detour to watch the Te Waikoropupu Springs. On our way there we also stopped at this location to take a look from the viewing platform. While I was standing on the platform, I also checked and realized that there is a cache close by, so on our way back to the car, we quickly found it.
Thanks for putting a cache at such a nice place.

It was a lovely day and we had a great view on the crystal clear water. After taking the obligatory GPS picture, so we can log this cache, we watched some Fantails fly around and enjoyed the serenity of the scenery. Thanks for leading us to this place and for "forcing" us to read the info board. We learned a lot.

We (Tricia.L.McMillan and I) found this cache while we were on our vacation in New Zealand and drove down and up again through the entire country.
So we spend two nights on the foot of Mt Cook / Aoraki. On the day we wanted to do a hike to the Mueller Lake and the Hooker Lake. When we started it was quite cloudy and we only saw a huge white cloud where the spectacular view on Mt Cook should have been.
On our walk to Mueller Lake, we went of the path and started looking for this cache, after we had to wait a while to let some other hikers pass. We then quickly found the cache and signed the log.
Thank you very much.

But we still took the little extra way to stop by Freda's Rock, search the container and sigh the log.
Thanks for leading us here and showing us this interesting piece of history.

We (Tricia.L.McMillan and I) found this cache while we were on our vacation in New Zealand and drove down and up again through the entire country.
On our way into Queenstown, we drove by this abandoned station and thought that it would be worth a quick stop to take a closer look. While we were walking around the house, I thought: "This would be a great place for a geocache.". So I took out my phone, checked and sure enough there was one. We quickly found the container. After we had signed the log and wanted to put it back, a huge truck pulled up next to the station and we couldn't put the cache back. We didn't know whether the truck driver wanted to have a break (maybe go on the toilet somewhere in the woods) or maybe we were dealing with a fellow cacher. After a short moment, the door opened and the truck diver climbed our and we saw that she (!) just wanted to take her Chihuahua for a walk. Her outfit along with the dog made her look like an ideal character in a movie like "Legally Blond" but the fact that she was just a minute earlier steering this truck was somehow breaking and confirming stereotypes at the same time. It was a strange experience.
Anyway, thanks for the cache and the information about the station, which was just what we needed in this situation.

We (Tricia.L.McMillan and I) found this cache while we were on our vacation in New Zealand and drove down and up again through the entire country.
After we have been to Bluff, we headed up north to TeAnau. On our way we passed this old bridge and decided to stop to take a look at it. While we were on the bridge, I checked whether there are any geocaches around, only to see that the bridge itself was a virtual cache. We walked across it and enjoyed it for a while, before the rain was getting to strong.
A really nice place. Thanks for placing the cache here.

After spending the night in Invercargill, we decided to head further down to Bluff, before going up to TeAnau. In Bluff we had a quick walk around the forest before climbing around on the rocks on the shore. From there we quickly went and found the box, where we signed the log.
Thanks for the cache.

On a rainy morning, we went down on the beach to visit the natural phenomenon we had previously heard about. Also knowing that there is a earth cache about those those stones, we spend some additional time on solving the tasks associated to it. Since we forgot our measuring string in the car, I had to measure using my hand span. Luckily my hand span is exactly 25 cm wide, which make for a convenient measuring, only that I was crawling around the stones, trying not to step into any of the puddles that formed around the boulders. After seeing, touching, and climbing around on the boulders we went back to the car before we were completely soaked by the rain.
Thanks for the cache.

After spending a night in Christchurch we wanted to go hiking on the Banks Peninsula the next day. On our way there we thought that we also wanted to visit the Onawe Peninsula, being a peninsula on a peninsula. Luckily for us, this cache was in place so we were able to learn a bit more about the interesting geology of this small strip of land.
Thanks for leading us here.

We (Tricia.L.McMillan and I) found this cache while we were on our vacation in New Zealand and drove down and up again through the entire country.
On this day, we initially wanted to go whale watching. However, doe to the heavy sea that trip had been cancled and we needed to find another way to spend the time. Since the weather was really nice, we went for a walk around the peninsula. On our way we stopped here to read about this house and after a bit of searching also to sign out names in the log.
Thank you for this cache.

P.S. our whale watching was postponed to the next day, were the ship actually went our. However with still rough seas and no whale anywhere it just turned into a wave watching trip. But with the 80% refund we got and the interesting presentation on board it was still a good way to spend the time.

We (Tricia.L.McMillan and I) found this cache while we were on our vacation in New Zealand and drove down and up again through the entire country.
On our way from Napir to Wellington we followed the brown highway signs and took a small detour along the scenic road via the Pukeora Hill. We stopped up there and saw that there was also a geocache located up there. However our attempts to find it, were abruptly stopped by the muggles that came along and parked there. After several minutes of waiting, snacking, drinking and further waiting they were still showing no signs of leaving any time soon. We we left and felt a bit disappointed only to see on the phone that there is another cache close by. So we found attempted this one and found it quick and easy. Thanks for saving us from a slightly disappointing afternoon.

We found this one more or less by accident. When we were driving from Taupo to Napir, we saw the brown highway sign and thought that this would make for a nice spot to take a short break. After we have looked at the great sigh and took a couple of pictures, I realized that there is this virtual cache to show us what we just saw. Anyway, a great place to stop for a while. Thanks.

This was our first geocache during our vacation in New Zealand. We just wanted to do a short hike on the peninsula but when we started walking, I thought that I might better check my phone for geocaches around and this so we saw the listing and quickly found the cache. Thanks for the cache.
