I’m on a road trip to Utah and Arizona to find some new counties and get a few oldies. This cache was the most memorable 2000er on this trip. It was also the hardest to get to. We did not realize how difficult the low water levels would make the hunt.

We had not reserved a jet ski as the Antelope Point Marina does not allow reservations shorter than a full day. We got to the marina soon after they opened at 7am and felt very fortunate to get a jet ski for half a day. It took quite awhile to go through the process but eventually we were in the water headed to Labyrinth Canyon.

Once in the canyon, it soon started to narrow due to the low water levels. In fact, it got so narrow that at one point the jet ski made it through with only an inch of space on each side between the ski and the canyon wall. The canyon walls towered so far above the water that it would have been impossible to climb out of the canyon unless you were a world-class rock climber.

We eventually ran into a sandy and muddy “beach” at the end of the canyon. There were a few kayaks parked there as people were hiking the slot canyon. We turned around and headed back in search of a place to beach. We finally left the jet ski at N 037° 00.315' W 111° 18.690' and started the 1.1 mile hike to the GZ. The terrain was fairly easy to navigate but the near 100 degree heat made the hike a real challenge. Do not underestimate this hike! Once close to the GZ, we spotted the cache quickly in its hidey hole. Always nice to get a smiley on an old cache. Thanks for keeping this one alive! A favorite point awarded for the adventure!

Happy day! We found Labyrinth Canyon and can claim yet another smiley! Thank you Team Snaptek for your contribution to geocaching, our favorite outdoor pastime! Happy caching and excellent adventure!!

Veljen kanssa liikenteessä tänään kätköjen perässä. Hieno päivä hyvässä seurassa. Saatiin monenlaista purkkia kokoon, pääasiassa myssejä vaikka Wherigo ja webcamikin mahtuivat joukkoon. Monet kiitokset kaikille kätköjen omistajille!

Tämä oli päivän kohokohta. Nyt on sitten se maan vanhinkin taskussa. Favoriitinhan se ansaitsee. Niinkuin velipoika sanoo, naps ja kops. Kk.

We found Sun Gear on 9/17/19 at 12:51. It is smiley number 4523 for us. Thank you Kalle Reunanen for your contribution to geocaching, our favorite game! Cache on, mmcash

This is day four of three week road trip from Ellensburg, WA to Milwaukee, WI. After staying close to Colorado Springs, we continued to Salina, KS. On the way, we picked up a few caches for new counties and two new states for us, Kansas and Nebraska. Our main target was Kansas’s oldest but we also took a long detour and found the second oldest.

We finally found Mingo! It’s kind of funny to see this listed on google maps too. This is obviously the one to get for the history. We dropped in a couple of travel bugs. We’re adding a favorite point just for the nostalgia factor.

We found this cache on 7/31/19 at 5:36 PM. It is smiley number 4207 for us.

This was day 6 of a week long caching trip from Washington to Northern California. Day 6 took us from Davis, CA to Klamath Falls, OR. Our main targets were caches published in year 2000, but we ended up adding a bunch of other caches as well. A great trip overall!

This was of course one of the oldies that we couldn't pass up. We took a detour to find it and enjoyed the scenic drive through the fields. We found the GZ and then looked around some before discovering the prize. The hint is very helpful. Great to have another oldie in the bag! Thank you for keeping this one alive.

We decided to leave on a road trip to Idaho and Utah last minute on a whim. We’re hoping to get some oldies on the way and also collect many new counties.

After staying overnight in Pocatello, ID, today was day two of the road trip, and our targets were the oldest in Southern Idaho and Potter’s Pond in Utah.

After taking quite awhile to hike and find the first oldie, we headed straight to this one. It was quite a long drive but the drive in the mountains is fantastic! We’ve never driven this high before (highest summit was 9,655’). When we finally arrived at the campground around 5pm, we promptly parked at the camping spot #19 and took the trail to the GZ. The hike didn’t take long and we soon had the cache in hand. No trackables were in the cache, but we were rewarded by all the original logbooks. This cache was definitely worth the effort for the views and scenery. On the way we saw sheep beards, horses, deer, and many birds. Also enjoyed the aspen forests. This one deserves a favorite point!

Looking for a Tasmanian geocacher to trade Washington information with. I have completed the Part 1 cache in Hobart, WA and am looking for a cacher who has the Part A information from Hobart, Tasmania.

Send me a note!

I had had this cache on my list ever since I came across the Washington History challenge. Today was a nice fall day and I decided to do the drive and see if I can find this oldie. I had checked on whether I could make this a bike ride instead of a hike, and while I still had some doubts I thought I'd give it a try.

After arriving at the trail head quite late, I found parking on the road shoulder. This is a very popular spot! I got on my bike and very soon discovered that I'd have to walk the bike around some technical single track and of course the log crossing. Immediately after the crossing, I took a wrong turn, not staying on trail and ended up having to turn around and return to the trail. When I returned, it was obvious what I did wrong. No worries, I got back on the bike but only a little ways out, the railroad grade turned into a riverbed. After getting through that, it was mostly clear sailing to the town.

Once there, I quickly realized that I would not be able to ride all the way to the cache. Not having brought a lock, I stashed the bike where I thought it would be safe and make the last 400 feet on foot. Luckily it didn't take long until I had the cache in hand. I took a trackable and left two for the next lucky cacher.

There is a lot of history here. It's too bad not much of it has survived. Thank you for placing this cache and keeping it going for so long!
