Logs for motogrrl

15-May-06
Hurray! My journey has begun, thanks to Icarus! Now to hunt up someone to find Stage 2 for me.

31-Dec-05
15:45, on 12/31/05, last day one can log this, I think. I used the 12, the 31, the 05, and the 45.

This was fun to get, on the north bank of Lion Creek in Oakland, and I found a place nearby where I can put a physical, yay!

Episode #5002 -- "Squeegee" http://www.calgold.com/calgold/Default.asp?Series=5000&Show=585

14:58
Here's Ettore Corp, the makers of the original squeegee, accept no inferior imitations! Wink

As one of the pics shows, it'll be moving in a couple of months, out of Oakland completely, thus depriving the city of yet another piece of its history... Twisted

However, thanks for giving me the op to go out and hunt for an episode about my local towns that hadn't already been snagged!

Oh yeah: this is find #250 for me! W00t! Cool

Coords are approximate location of my desk at work. Wink
What a great LC. I'll be sad to see them go, and was glad to get under the wire for this one.

Unfortunately, there was no plaque or anything indicating that this was a Carnegie Library, but this site indicates it was:

I've tried to include a sufficiency of pictures.

This isn't so much a Cigar Store Indian as it is a Pawn Shop Indian. They keep him chained to the shop during the day and very carefully move him inside every night, and for good reason; he's pretty fine, though not actually holding any tobacco products.

Telegraph Ave, near Alcatraz, Berkeley CA.

This is the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Ascension http://www.ascensioncathedral.org/, in Oakland CA; they host a very popular Greek cultural festival every year in May, which I try never to miss. Music, food, views... what more could you ask for? Wink

It's technically part of the Metropolis (archdiocese) of San Francisco, which includes most of the western states! So I hope it's okay to post this, in case somebody's already posted a cathedral in AZ or OR or NV or.... Wink

More details in the pictures.
