Last Wednesday and yesterday we both travelled towards the Netherlands to attend the wedding of one of our sisters (in law). It was a beautiful, happy, wonderful day. But after all the partying we also had to return to Munich at some point this weekend and we decided to make the best of it. So we did not take the most direct route back to southern Germany, but instead we went through Belgium and spent the Pentecost weekend in Luxemburg (hint: we did not yet find any cache in this country, so that also was a motivation to pass by). And when you come from Eindhoven and you know there will be a huge traffic jam near Maastricht, it is not so strange to divert even further past the oldest cache still active on the European mainland. Thus, made a nice a geotour out of it!
Well, what can we say about this cache. For sure that it probably has the best set of coordinates we have ever encountered. And that it is in perfect condition too! Luckily there is a parking spot not far away and the cache itself can be easily found. It is nice to see such a large container which is so old. Of course we took a picture of one of us (triumphantly holding the cache). Thanks a lot for keeping this treasure alive!

This week one of us had to be in the DC area for a scientific conference. After the conference ended I had one day left to wander around Washington DC and to look for some of the many caches around there. As I had been in DC before I decided to start visiting the places I had not been before. After walking around the Theodore Roosevelt Island I walked along the Potomac to the entrance of Arlington Cemetery. This virtual showed me two very interesting sites. The first very well known, the other in a much more quiet part of the cemetery. But it was impressing to be there alone. Thanks for this virtual! I emailed the answers to the cache owner.

This evening we finally found the time to hit the road together with -Anka- and Rex_Kramer to track down Finlands oldest cache still in existence. We left from our work in Espoo, picked the two others up in Töölö and drove on close to the cache. We were lucky it wasn't raining anymore, but it clearly rained earlier today as all the plants were wet. And so did we after walking through the forest for a few minutes. But that didn't stop us from moving toward the cache. We only stopped now and then to pick some blueberries (hopefully we can make some jam out of them later this week). When we arrived at ground zero the cache itself was quite obviously but well hidden. We were happy having found the cache, but so were the mosquitos who started a feast meal on us. So we quickly logged the cache and started our way back to the car (still stopping here and there for blueberries). So we finally did it: finding Finlands oldest cache. Thanks for hiding it so long ago and thanks everyone that it still is up and running and looking great! Kiitos!
