Logs for Crys85

17-Aug-16
Easy find and signed the damp log sheet. Perhaps a more watertight container is needed for this cache.

14-Aug-16
Quick find after a good coffee at Bocelli's. GPS had me looking in the alley but upon turning back and retracing my steps I spotted it.

Didn't have a pen on me to sign this one today.

12-Aug-16
Easy find, but challenging waiting for a break from traffic and pedestrians prior retrieval.

11-Aug-16
Nice location and a warm sunny day to boot. Along one of my favourite beach-side riding and walking/walking paths. TFTC.

08-Aug-16

It's been a while since I've done some geocaching. Felt a bit rusty with this one. Good hide. TFTC.

12-Oct-14
Easy find, but nice location and cool little cache.

26-Jul-12
Came across this one purely by accident without knowing there was a cache up here. I've driven past the mausoleum dozens of times but never ventured up to the top before. The weather was nice and I decided to take a hike up to the top on the way back home from a great lunch at Saltram's.

After looking around where the water tank was and admiring the view I started walking back and out of the corner of my eye I caught a glimpse of something bright and colourful on the ground. I immediately thought "wow, i know what that is" and sure enough it was a geocache.

10-Mar-12
I'm familiar with this area and have noticed that the location at GZ has been landscaped and the large trees have been removed sometime within the last couple of weeks. It's just small trees and woodchips at this location now.

Not sure if the cache is still there if it was in the bushes previously. Someone will have to verify.

After 29 finds I decided to have a go at my first puzzle cache for #30.

The puzzle looked fairly straight forward, and with 10 minutes of coding in Java I had a simple algorithm to solve the problem. There was no way I was going to do this one manually Razz.

Thankfully my solution was correct and took me to the right coordinates. I was able to find the cache easily, and luckily I read the logs below and brought along a multitool which made cache retrieval a lot easier.

The log books are still damp, but signable. Very clever hide.

TFTC.

Managed to find it after a while. Very well hidden. TNLNSL.

02-Mar-12
The coordinates for this are in the bushes but the title and hint make it obvious enough. Easy grab at night.

28-Feb-12
Quick find at night. TNLNSL.

25-Feb-12
This has got to be one of my favourites since I started geocaching (24 caches ago). I have been to this location twice before in broad daylight with no luck. This time armed with the hint I wasn't going to leave before I found it.

Although it was night time, I had my trusty flashlight and started scanning all the rocks around GZ looking for signs of the hint. After standing on a rock to get a better view I look down and; "Hello, there it is." I found it within 5 minutes.

I swear this one is easier to find at night than it is during the day. Now that I've seen it, it looks so obvious. It's also my first successful attempt at finding a cache amongst rocks.

Also, it might need a new log soon. There's only about 5-10? small lines left on this one.

Reasonably easy find at night, while out for a ride. I never knew there was a bike path along the airport on this side.

There's still a travel bug trackable in this cache. TNLNSL.

Easy find - really only one place it could be at these coordinates. The lid was a bit loose, and the log wasn't in a bag? Although it looks like the scorching hot weather this week has completely dried it out.

23-Feb-12
Found this fairly quickly because the cache might've been retrieved and put back but the camo was left shifted out which made it clearly visible out in the open. Moved the camo back to where I thought it should be to save it from being muggled. TNLNSL.

22-Feb-12
Found it. TNLNSL.

18-Feb-12
Good hide. Had to be really careful not to drop it.

This place is muggle central. Cars driving past, people waiting at benches, people looking down from the balconies, staff working behind the counter in the festival centre... Good thing the cache is small enough and in a location where it can be accessed inconspicuously.

Took me a little while to get this one out. Good thing I have long fingernails for guitar playing.

After putting it back I did notice a couple of tools lying around that could have made it a lot easier.

I liked this hide. The trackable is still there - I think someone else will do a better job of continuing its journey.

Easy find. Surprised this one hasn't been muggled or cleaned up by council workers.

17-Feb-12
Spent more time than I should've on this one. After looking in the wrong location down the road then looking in the right location, then sitting down next to it thinking "where else could it be...? Oh, there it is."

TNLNSL.

16-Feb-12
No problems finding this one. TNLNSL Cool

Great cache design! Signed log.

13-Feb-12
Third time lucky with this one. All three times I was out here at night with a little bike light scratching my noggin around GZ, pacing up and down thinking where could it possibly be.

Persistency finally paid off. Found my first nano! Couldn't believe how small this thing was. One side of the log is full, so I was the first to sign the opposite side (sorry for taking up so much room, I only had a permanent marker with me).

My second time back here to look for this one. Finally found it!

12-Feb-12
This one's been on my mind since my first attempt, and since I was down this way checking out the cruise liner docked in outer harbour I thought I'd have another go at this. I also had a fair idea in my head of exactly where it was after re-reading the discussions and hint.

Interestingly enough this was the first place I checked last time I was here, just not thoroughly enough. It's the first time I've come across a cache like this - very cool and great camo.

First time I came here a while ago I spotted the cache but had people around checking what I was doing and there really is no way to covertly pick up this one.

Today I came back with a few empty cars on the other end of the parking lot I retrieved the cache and signed the log.

Also, it's my 10th cache since I started this geocaching adventure, so I left a MicroMachine racing car with the number 10 on it. Didn't take anything... although in the log I think I had a brainfart and wrote "took micromachine, left nothing" lol.

This was another re-visit for me. Now that I'm getting more 'cache-aware' I'm starting to get a better idea of where to look.

10-Feb-12
After looking around and trying to feel it by hand with no success, I unleashed my inner monkey and did some parkour for a better look and there it was - in the first place I put my hand [8)]

Found it and signed the log, but the log is damp from rain we've had recently because the bag wasn't properly sealed. I'd recommend getting a smaller log book without the binding (or paper scroll) because I found it impossible to properly seal that bag too.

Found it in the dark and signed the scrap piece of paper Smile

It seems like this one would be an easy target for mugglers as it's not camoflaged very well?

I've lived down this way all my life and have never seen this house before. Looks great at night!

Interesting cache design and good camo.. I'd recommend people being very careful when opening this and handling the log so that it doesn't blow away.

Haha, I get it! Makes perfect sense now Big Grin

Did the same trick as someone else here and pretended to be working on my bike to avoid suspicion while retrieving the cache. Perfect cover.

However, upon putting the canister back inside the cache I might have pushed it in too far. It's still visible but the next person might need a long stick to push it out unless it can be shaken out.

After this cache I'm never looking at another piece of rubbish the same way again.

Very easy to do this one at night without being spotted.

08-Feb-12
Rode to this location late at night (around 10pm) thinking I'd be all alone, but turns out this place is a hive of activity at night with all sorts of shifty looking people coming and going regularly. Maybe I'm just being overly paranoid but I wasn't really comfortable leaving my bicycle at the top without locking it up while going down the rocks to look for this one. Didn't bring the bike lock so gave it a miss.

Will return again to give this another shot some other time.

After a dissapointing cache run, where every location on my checklist had people around (which was surprising for late at night in cool weather), I thought I'd give this one a try before calling it a night.

Found it fairly easily after being greeted by a friendly little huntsman spider who showed the way Big Grin. So look out for spiders when rummaging around here.

I thought being 6'2" I'd have no problems getting this... but after spending 15min around GZ, looking in the barely reachable places and pulling all sorts of spiderman/rockclimbing maneuvers - I think I deduced the likely location of it and managed to get a glimpse of something which I think is it.

Will definitely have to come back with a milk crate or ladder for this one.

07-Feb-12
Went looking for caches tonight while going for a night ride under a full moon. Fairly easy one and Cache #3 for me.

06-Feb-12
Cache find #2 for me. Looked for this one after finding Magnetcacheon further up the path.

The playground was empty but I can imagine how suspicious I appeared if there were people looking through their windows in the houses across the road Smile

Yay! My first cache find. The addiction has begun... Cool

It was in the second place I checked, but when I first looked I missed it and ended up walking around looking elsewhere for about few minutes before returning to that place and spotting it.

04-Feb-12
This was my first attempt at geocaching, and sad to say I couldn't find it [8)]

Not sure if I was thinking too much - checked inside both pipes from both sides, looked around the area where the sign was, checked around those concrete barrier walls, even checked the little posts opposite the path on the ASC side. Oh well.. maybe my next attempt will be more successful.

Nevertheless, seeing the whirlpool in action was pretty cool and it's a nice little area too.
